25.01.2022 Hi everyone. This morning you will have seen an address by the Prime Minister around Australia's response to COVID-19. We wanted to take some time to share this message from our CEO about Goodstart's preparedness and response. We've been planning around COVID-19 since early January, and we're here to support our people, our children and our families as we move through the next few months. https://www.goodstart.org.au//goodstart%E2%80%99s-working-

24.01.2022 Do you work in healthcare? As part of our planning for COVID-19 we're asking if you can spare 5 minutes to discuss your contingency plans, and how organisations like ours can support you through the evolving COVID-19 situation. Were interested in hearing from anyone who keeps our healthcare system working - nurses, doctors, allied health professionals, laboratory technicians, paramedics, hospital cleaners or others. 22.01.2022 The Federal Government has signaled that it is thinking seriously about ending 'free child care' very soon. Our friends over at The Parenthood are keen to understand what this decision might mean for families with children in early learning and care all over Australia. If you can please spare 5 minutes to take their short confidential survey.

20.01.2022 Today is Indigenous Literacy Day. At Goodstart we are deeply committed to Reconciliation, we want to recognise our rich culture, history and connection to our First Australians every day and celebrate by embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in all that we do. We know that language is more than just a means to communicate, it is an essential characteristic that makes people and communities unique and plays a central role in a sense of identity. Did... you know there were more than 250 Indigenous Australian languages spoken on the continent at the time of European settlement in 1788? Now Only 13 traditional Indigenous languages are still acquired by children today. (source: Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies website) In Australia the 2018 NAPLAN report indicated that only 36% of Indigenous Year 5 students in very remote areas are at or above the national minimum reading standards, compared to 96% for non-Indigenous students in major cities. Keep Indigenous language strong by finding out the language of the Traditional Custodians where youre located by visiting https://gambay.com.au and incorporating it into activities with your children. Advocate for better access to literacy resources for remote Indigenous communities by learning more from the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. https://www.indigenousliteracyfoundation.org.au/

19.01.2022 We know it's a really worrying time for families all across Australia right now. So when we see something like this from one of our centres we just couldn't be more proud that they are part of our Goodstart family. Goodstart Mount Martha - Bentons Road put together this short video for families who couldn't be with them, and dropped off a basket of materials to the children's home so they could still make an Easter hat and virtually participate in the centre's annual Easter Hat parade. What a team of incredible humans. #inthistogether #stayingconnected

16.01.2022 When it's almost summer and your centre has a waterpark! #onlyinQLD #wishwewerethere

16.01.2022 Hi Goodstart families! As you know the Government announced today that the 'free childcare' package will expire on 12 July and that the CCS system will return from 13 July, along with new transition measures (up until October) to support the sector and parents as they move back to the subsidy. This announcement is a little bit complex so we are working hard to understand what this means for our families and for Goodstart. We will provide an update to our centres and our families later today and over the coming days as we learn more. #5weekstogo!

15.01.2022 With much relief we can confirm that the Federal Treasurer and Minister for Education announced that Goodstart WILL BE eligible for the Government's JobKeeper package. While this won't be introduced into parliament until Wednesday, we know that once passed it will provide some much needed reassurance to our Goodstart teams and enable us to continue to provide high-quality early learning and care to our children and families all over Australia. https://www.goodstart.org.au//goodstart-welcomes-new-jobke

15.01.2022 A nice little mid-week reminder

14.01.2022 We think its safe to say that 2020 has been a year unlike any other. For the world, for Australia and for our Goodstart team. Over the past few months people, families and communities have been tried and tested in the most extraordinary ways. As frontline essential workers our Goodstarters rose to this challenge, stepping up to support our 60,000 families and 71,000 children through some incredibly challenging times. So weve declared this week Thank You Week! A week to ce...lebrate and recognise our 10,000+ Goodstarters for continuing to go above and beyond in face of adversity. We have a few special surprises planned for our Goodstarters this week, but in the meantime we'd love for our Goodstart families to get involved too! Please share your messages of thanks and support below and tag an educator or a centre who has really made a difference. #ThankYouWeek #InThisTogether

13.01.2022 The spirit, meaning and history of Anzac Day was explored by many of our centres this week, with moving tributes like the one below being created by our children, our people and our families. We are continually inspired by the sense of community we see all around us at this time, with many of our educators and families planning to participate in the combined driveway dawn service that is happening across Australia at 6am tomorrow. Goodstart centres and families - let's warm our hearts and fill the comments with photos of the wonderful Anzac tributes and activities you have been doing this week. #lestweforget

10.01.2022 Goodstart Families! Just wanted to clarify with you that the 'free childcare' package announced by Government today absolutely includes ALL Goodstart centres. If your child is enrolled in one of our centres and you are still working, studying or searching for work you will be able to send your child for free from Monday 6 April. We know you probably have lots of questions, and your Centre Director will share more tomorrow once we understand the finer details of how it all works.

10.01.2022 Last week we held our annual national 'Goodies Awards' (virtually of course!) and were again overwhelmed by the incredible submissions from our teams across Australia. The Goodies is about recognising the brilliance, compassion, determination and innovation our people bring to their centres and roles every day. As our CEO Julia Davison said, "At a time when COVID-19 turned our world upside down, our centres and our teams of Goodstarters exceeded all expectations and stepped up when the nation needed them most". A huge congratulations to all the state and national winners, and everyone who nominated - you are exceptional. https://www.goodstart.org.au//goodstart-recognises-excepti

09.01.2022 In HUGE #thankyouweek news our CEO Julia Davison just announced that all permanent Goodstart centre team members who worked tirelessly through COVID (and still continue to do so) will get a free day off on us! 05.01.2022 'Somewhere in Australia' is today's Great Australian Storybook Collection book! Join the little joey and many more familiar animals in this lovely Australian counting book based on the classic rhyme Over in the Meadow. You can further extend on this with your children by asking which animals they may have seen at a zoo? To acknowledge this extraordinary year, we have created a short 30 sec TV ad "What we're for" to reflect on the year we have shared together. The ad is filled to the brim with our very own educators, children and families! We hope you love it as much as we do! *sound on is best! #becauseweareGoodstart #weareforchildren #goodstartfamily

02.01.2022 When our wonderful kindy children at our Goodstart Morningside - Wynnum Road centre reached out and asked if they could hold a bake sale at Goodstart HQ this morning to raise funds and awareness about the bushfire crisis it was met with a resounding YES! So many of our centres have been exploring this topic with their children, who have taken it upon themselves to come up with ideas about how they can get involved. Big shout out to the Goodstart Morningside - Wynnum Road educators and families - the bake sale was a huge hit!

02.01.2022 We are pleased to announce that Goodstart will no longer charge families on public holidays from 1 Jan 2020, with New Years Day our first fee free holiday in the new year. Families will now have more flexibility and will be able to book days with confidence knowing they wont be charged for a day where no service is provided. https://www.goodstart.org.au///no-fees-for-public-holidays

01.01.2022 Did anyone manage to grab their copy of The Man from Snowy River today? This is an iconic Australian story that can be explored further with your children in a few ways. You might want to use it as an opportunity to talk openly and honestly about our countrys history with your children. About colonisation and Australia's First Peoples. You could also talk about where your family and friends originally came from and find them on a map.
