25.01.2022 How wonderful was it to be surrounded in so much yellow today!! In support of such an amazing cause, we couldnt tell you how much we appreciate everyone who dressed the part!!

25.01.2022 While watering our community garden we were pretty excited to find our first lot of strawberries had started growing. We cant wait until they are ripe and we are able to taste them straight from the garden!

24.01.2022 The Senior Toddlers were very busy this morning investigating the little animals during their play! Using the animals they were able to engage in so much learning. There were conversations around similarities and differences with the animals, language development as they discussed what the animals were called and counting and number use. They sorted and categorised each of the animals in to their matching family groups. We currently have limited vacancies in our Senior Toddlers room, if you are looking for care for your 2-3year old, please call to book a tour. We’d love to meet you!

We know that language is more than just a means to communicate, it is an essential characteristic that makes people and communities unique and plays a central role in a sense of identity. Did you know there were more than 250 Indigenous Australian languages spoken on the continent at the time of European settlement in 1788? Now Only 13 traditional Indigenous languages are still acquired by children today. (source: Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies website) In Australia the 2018 NAPLAN report indicated that only 36% of Indigenous Year 5 students in very remote areas are at or above the national minimum reading standards, compared to 96% for non-Indigenous students in major cities. 24.01.2022 Our Senior Toddlers start every morning with a quick yoga session and some deep breathing exercises. This helps them self regulate their emotions and helps support them transition from the outdoor active busy play to the calming small group indoor experiences!

12.01.2022 The sandpit is always guaranteed to be buzzing with activity! We’ve seen cakes cooked and rivers and streams dug out. This time our Kindergarten children showed some of our Pre kindergarten children how to make a volcano They used a bucket and built the sand up and around it, packing it in hard to keep its shape. Next came the lava! Using one of the big watering cans they filled it with water and poured it into the centre of their volcano and watched it overflow down the ...sides. Just like a real volcano! 06.01.2022 This week is Queensland Child Protection Week. Listening to our kids, allows us to learn more about how they thinks and feels, and what they need. Sometimes it'...s hard to get them to talk. NAPCAN share some helpful tips... Tips for encouraging our children to talk Ask about the best thing that happened in your childs day. Remember what has been going on for your child so you can ask the best questions. Ask about their friends. Ask their opinions about things. Ask how they would solve problems. But respect their answers! If you are reading a book with your children, discuss it with them. Pause at the end of each page for them to comment. If your child doesnt respond to a question, dont push. Change the topic. Remember that children live much more in the minute than adults. If they dont want to talk about what happened at school, its probably because its not important anymore! Through this experience they were able to develop their fine motor skills and hand eye coordination as they incorporate the different tools into their play. Conversations around the table focused on their senses and what they could feel between the different textures and what they could see and smell with the different items floating in the water.
