24.01.2022 2020 the year that was ...... What more can we say about 2020 that’s not already been said. As we near closer to 2021 we look back on our year at the centre. We’ve had a fire , we’ve made our way through a global pandemic, we’ve had home schooling,... (shout out to all the parents who nailed that gig) we’ve had a fantastic yard makeover, we have seen some fabulous educators come and go, but most importantly we have learnt a lot. We have learnt about the importance of growing your own food , sustainability , resilience, working as a team, kindness , patience , as well as the support of our beautiful families that attend the centre and our families at home, and most importantly mental health and a positive attitude. (Note : toilet paper is not on the list ) No matter what role you play , what job you have we are all essential for the well being of others. Thank you to each and everyone of you from the Goodstart family for your ongoing support this year. May 2021 bring you joy, health and happiness. We can’t wait to see all the new year.

24.01.2022 Our Mother’s Day tables are all set up and ready for tomorrow. Please help yourself to a tea or coffee to go with some morning tea, and feel free to take a gift for yourself or let the children pick one for you.

22.01.2022 ~~~~Happy Fathers Day ~~~~ Happy Fathers day to all the fathers we have lost, all the fathers we have, those yet to be fathers and to the mothers that fill both roles. We have been very busy in the centre this week preparing special gifts, cards and artwork.... There have been several special interest activities for the children to participate in that they have thoroughly enjoyed. Our Toddlers room have been practicing their fishing technique, to give their dads some pointers on how to catch the biggest fish ! However you are celebrating today we hope you all have a lovely day filled with laughter, joy and of course lots of home made presents.

21.01.2022 Our NAIDOC week celebrations and activities continued in our Kindy room. We have been busy doing painting, puzzles and listening to many stories. The children were also taught the symbolic meaning of the Aboriginal flag colours (as stated by Harold Thomas).... Black represents the Aboriginal people of Australia. Yellow circle represents the Sun, the giver of life and protector. Red represents the red earth, the red ochre used in ceremonies and Aboriginal peoples' spiritual relation to the land. See more

20.01.2022 - WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY - World Environment Day is celebrated on 5 June every year, and is the United Nations' principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of our environment. Our very clever Toddlers Room educators created an experience for World Environment Day where they created a beach scene including sand, water, sea animals and bit of rubbish. The children were encouraged to pick out the rubbish with tongs and place it into a "bin". From this experience the children not only learned the importance of ensuring our environment is protected and also furthered their fine motor skills.

19.01.2022 We have had a few requests for a menu sign to be put in our foyer to avoid the children having the same thing for dinner as they did lunch! We have popped our little sign on the door so that you can see what was for lunch each day on your way out! Don't forget that our winter cookbook is available now with all proceeds to telethon!

19.01.2022 Back in September, our Centre Director, Jess, was nominated for a WA State Goodie award! What is that, you ask? Well, each year, Goodstart throws an award ceremony that highlights and recognises the amazing achievements of their people and the work they are doing on a daily basis. Throughout this tough year, and despite the circumstances we have found ourselves in, Jess has taken on and continued to lead and support two centres and two fantastic teams. ... Jess's efforts and hard work saw her take out this years award. This means that Jess has been personally recognised among many thousands of Goodstart employees for her dedication, leadership, initiative, adaptivity to challenge and change and the support of so many people.
