25.01.2022 Blowing the Leaves At this time of the year our trees drop their leaves and depending on who you ask, they either make a mess or create some great opportunities to play! Our gardeners come in and blow the leaves into big piles to take away, and our toddlers just love watching the gardener use his blower to clean up the leaves. They are intrigued by the sound of the blower and motion of the leaves flying past.

25.01.2022 Cooking Session with Connecting Community for Kids If you are at home with your children and are looking for something to keep busy, check out this Zoom event next week. Not only can you teach your children the way around the kitchen, but you can bring some culture into the mix with a traditional Polish dish on the menu.

As you know the Government announced today that the 'free childcare' package will expire on 12 July and that the CCS system will return f...rom 13 July, along with new transition measures (up until October) to support the sector and parents as they move back to the subsidy. This announcement is a little bit complex so we are working hard to understand what this means for our families and for Goodstart. 25.01.2022 Lids - Big and Small We have had a fantastic response to our Lids for Kids collection at the centre, and our Kindy children have been helping to sort the lids. Our educators have incorporated a learning of maths into this activity by teaching the children about the different physical attributes of objects. The children were able to compare and identify the difference between little and big lids.

24.01.2022 Upcoming Webinars The Child and Parent Centre in Calista are offering the following webinars in the next few weeks. This centre is great for parents in the local area needing a bit of extra support with parenting.

23.01.2022 Brilliant Bike Riding One of the children's most favourite things outside are the bikes. Without a doubt when the children are outside there is always someone on a bike. They love to race around the bike track, using their muscles to power themselves along. Riding the bikes helps to improve their physical movement and strength and they really enjoy riding with their friends.

20.01.2022 Cubby building in Kindy Our Kindy children have been interested in building their own cubby houses lately. Inside and Outside, they have had the opportunity to design their own spaces. They have sourced their equipment and as a team, used their problem solving skills to figure out how to make the roof stay and change their design to make it work. Who doesnt love hiding in a cubby house?!

15.01.2022 Feeling the Friendships When our Educators catch lovely moments of interaction between children who initiate their own activities, allowing the children to carry on without adult input allows the children to develop their Independence and investigation skills. The friendships that come along the way teaches them about sharing, caring and the joy they can get from interacting with their peers.

13.01.2022 Musical Activities When children initiate activities with their educators, the educators will engage with the child, which quite often leads to a group activity as other children join in.Together as a group they all sang Row Row your boat while holding hands. Singing and rowing helps with their language and literacy skills, and developing their gross motor skills. Group activities strengthen the relationships the children have with their educators, building trust as they all have fun together.

07.01.2022 Celebrating Long Service Awards This week we presented 2 long service awards to our educators. Nicole received her 15 years long service award and Tracey received her 10 year long service award!! This is an amazing feat and such an asset to our centre. Nicole and Tracey have seen children start with us as babies and leave as Kindy graduates to then welcome siblings aswell. We are extremely fortunate to have many long standing educators here at Goodstart Bertram. Congrats Nicole and Tracey

07.01.2022 Developmental Milestones Its such a joy to share our children's developmental milestones, and in our nursery one of the big ones is when children begin to stand/walk. Having age appropriate furniture in the room provides opportunities for the children to begin to explore these next steps in a safe way. Little M is very proud of himself being able to pull himself up to stand and explore the toys at a new level with his friends.

04.01.2022 Jiggly Jelly Babies Jelly can be a fun texture to explore for our babies. Its cold and jiggly and they can squish it between their fingers. Some children jump right in and like the sensory play while some are a bit more reluctant at first, watching their friends test out the jelly before joining in. Our educators were surprised that the babies didnt try to eat the jelly!
