25.01.2022 The Senior toddlers are developing their independence and confidence in daily tasks. In the photos you can see the children taking the lead to fill up their own drink bottles using the water jug. They are cautious but focused as they hold and tip the jug filling up their bottles. They are also very excited and proud as they tell others about their achievements.

18.01.2022 A variety of large and small group experiences have been set up in the Snr Toddler room as one of our key objectives is learning how to take turns, work together, cooperate and share our own ideas with one another. It is great to see the little friendships that are starting to form and watching as the children are encouraged to use their voices to express their thoughts and feelings through the activities.

17.01.2022 This week the toddler children have been busy exploring farm animals so we decided to do a sheep collage. This encouraged the children to explore different possible ways to creat a sheep with the tools they had been given. It also encouraged fine motor and manipulation skills. Look how amazing their little sheep look.

15.01.2022 The children in Snr Toddlers have been interested in buses, pretending to be on a bus to go to the shops and today worked together with Miss Nat and Miss Jodie and made a bus out of the chairs. They all made sure they had a seat on the bus and we sang ‘The wheels on the bus’ song as we all pretended to ride on the bus (we even had dinosaurs on our bus). The children and Educators talked about where they wanted to go on the bus, the money they pretended to use to buy a ticket, but then the children took their ideas further and included different resources and items like putting the babies on the bus, food on the bus and even dressed up to go on the bus. Lots of fun as the children worked together sharing their ideas.

13.01.2022 The toddler children are still very much loving looking after their gardens. A couple of weeks ago we started an experiment to see if we could grow some bird seed in some wet cotton wool. It grew and grew and grew and the children loved checking on it everyday to see the progress. so this week we decided ur seed sprouts were long enough to plant in our larger planter boxes. Some children helped loosed the soil and others wanted to place the sprouts in the dirt and cover them up.

13.01.2022 Today the toddler children were able to interact with some animal figurines in the sand trough. The children loved the different environment to play with the sand and were really excited to play with the animals. This activity was to encourage both verbal and non-verbal language with the children and was very successful.

12.01.2022 The nursery babies love our sensory boards. They used their hands to investigate the different textures and laughed and smiled as they made their own marks on the boards.

11.01.2022 Due to our ongoing interest in cooking/baking we have chosen to have a baking morning every week and choose something off our centre menu afternoon tea and cook it in the room. Today was piklets and boy was it fun. This experience allowed the children to extend on their language and cognitive skills as they were heard labelling different ingredients, measuring and counting out how many cups or spoons of each ingredient we needed but it also allowed them to stir it all up wi...th the wooden spoon which is great coordination and fine motor development. The best part was watching as they cooked in the frypan and when Miss Nat flipped them over....lots of laughs and giggles. It was also a great opportunity to talk about health and hygiene as we had to wash our hands and get all the germs off our hands before we started, if we were going to cough or sneeze to cover our faces or move away and of course the most important one safety around cooking as the frypan was hot and that only adults can touch the frypan. We loved our piklets with some jam and ate them all!

09.01.2022 Last week the toddler children participated in making some lanterns to celebrate Diwali. They had lost of fun putting their own mark onto the lanterns. Diwali, short for Deepawali, is one of the most popular celebrations in India. The word translates to row of lights in Sanskrit and celebrates the victory of good over evil, light over darkness. The multi-day Festival of Lights includes fireworks, food, gifts, colored sand, and special clay lamps.

09.01.2022 Last week Max,Oliver and Connor all were talking about space rockets and how they ‘zoom up in the air’ so to extend we worked together to create our own spaceships with the Magna tiles. We also looked at some pictures of space rockets and a video of a space ship launching into space to get an idea of what they could look like. We will continue to look at this interest even looking wider into the topic of space.

08.01.2022 Centre Event Reminder: Tomorrow 30th October we are participating in Day for Daniel and Bandana Day. * Day for Daniel is where Parents, carers, and educators are encouraged to start a conversation with children and young people about personal safety. Schools and early learning centres conduct child safety education activities and businesses and community come together to raise awareness of child safety issues. * National Bandana Day is the flagship fundraising and awareness... campaign for Canteen- supporting young people impacted by cancer. To achieve this we are asking that children and staff dress in something red and if you have a Bandana to wear that too! There will be lots of fun red activities that the children will be involved in and if you would like to make a donation to any of these causes there will be tins on the front counter for you to do so. We can’t wait to see you all dressed up and ready for some fun!

08.01.2022 Today the children and educators participated in some fun activities to promote and raise awareness of both Day for Daniel and Bandana Day. Thanks to all families for dressing up the children in red or giving them a bandana to wear. The children looked fantastic and we all had a ball together.

06.01.2022 Baking allows children to develop their literacy and numeracy skills as they work together taking turns. Before starting we made sure we washed our hands using the correct steps and then Miss Nat went through labelling all the ingredients we needed. We counted how many cups or tablespoons of each ingredient we added, and even helped to mix the ingredients together with the wooden spoon. As it’s Christmas we coloured the mixture red and green and then rolled it into balls placing it on the tray. Miss Janet in the kitchen helped us to bake them and we will have a try of them at afternoon tea.

05.01.2022 What a fun muddy, wet, colourful day we have had today...but we have had so much fun!

02.01.2022 Today the toddlers explored a marble maze under close supervision. this activity encouraged the children to come together as a grou. It also promoted fine motor skill, social Skills, trial and error, turn taking and language skills as they cheered when the marble reached the end.

02.01.2022 In the last few weeks the Snr Toddlers have shown an interest in counting and colours. The coloured peg activity helped to encourage this interest and the children were seen sorting and classifying them into groups, counting how many pegs they had and then later matching the pegs to the coloured paper by pushing them on with their fine motor skills. There are so many different ways of promoting counting and colour recognition for children.

01.01.2022 The toddlers and nursery children have been exploring some sensory activities. The were able to touch and feel the playdough as well as use the spiky balls to make marks in the playdough.
