23.01.2022 Wow! We have had a hectic few months and now that we are all together, we have had a chance to celebrate Christmas in July (August haha) With an amazing morning tea spread and a cheeky little Secret Santa, we are set for the day!
22.01.2022 Miss Naomi joined us today to have a little chat about her last year with us! Earliest Memory My interview! I remember meeting Amy and Sienna and thinking please give me the job, I already love it here. I remember my first shift and how welcomed I felt. I love how everyone has grown to learn to put up with my random energy outbursts after having a triple shot coffee in the morning. ... Fondest Memory Signing my life away on a contract to become permanent and then soon becoming a key educator in the nursery. Its been an amazing yet wild ride meeting new families and creating these incredible bonds with the children and how amazing these little beings can be. Biggest Change Closing the nurseries. Probably the SADDEST change. I was devastated, Im still recovering from this. Luckily we were able to transfer our babies to Adelaide street and help settle them in!
22.01.2022 Thank you to all our team including our casuals who have given their all during this crazy time! Know you dont go unnoticed and are appreciated everyday #LoveMyECE #earlychildhoodeducatorsday
21.01.2022 Even though they are on hiatus, we still love and value these girls as part of our teams! Soon to make a return! Earliest Memory: My job interview with Rachael and then going for a tour of the centre. I remember it so well because I had been wearing heels and I took them off so I wouldnt wake anyone up whilst going through the rooms!... Fondest Memory: Celebrating my 21st at Ann St! Other than that, probably seeing children that I had in nursery all grown up in kindy. Or even when you get the siblings and having such a strong bond with the family that Key Educator works really well. Biggest Change: The nursery closure! Its been such a hard journey saying goodbye to families and children and reminiscing about all of the memories Ive made while I was working in the nursery. I made it 4 years strong and loved every minute of it!

18.01.2022 Thank you for the Earth, Thank you for the Sun, Thank you for My Friends and Thank you Everyone! Yesterday we celebrated the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Childrens Day. This is a very significant day and held a very significant theme - We are the Elders of tomorrow, hear our voice honours our Elders custodians of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander traditional knowledge, passed down to our children through stories and cultural practice.... Hearing childrens voices today plays a crucial role in them becoming influential Elders and leaders of the future. All the children were invited to participate in different aspects of cultural learning through the service! It was a great chance to revisit some of the reasons why we embed Indigenous and Torres Strait culture in our day to day lives~ This Friday we are celebrating Floral Friday and you might have noticed us rocking our great new Indigenous Shirts! Its so important to pay our respects and we are pleased to be able to embed this history into our future leaders!

Fondest Memory: Meeting and getting to know the Staff, Families and especially the children. ... Biggest Change: The enforcement of the old and new rules in the car-park, which caused total chaos! Also the closing of the nursery and not seeing the babies come through the car park anymore. The end of the year marks one year that Alexa has been with us and it has been a ride in her role!

15.01.2022 Chapter 4 of the story of how children grow well. Each chapter is important to the story. Every person has a role to playparents, grandparents, aunties, uncles, community members, educators, and service providers.... Chapter 4: Strong connections Children’s sense of belonging is built through strong connections to family, culture and community. Knowing who you are and where you belongwith family, culture and communityis important. When children and families feel connected to community, they find friends and develop a sense of belonging and wellbeing. Queenslanders have diverse cultural backgrounds, languages, values and beliefs. When everyone is recognised, feels included and welcomed, we build a positive sense of belonging and encourage children to embrace and celebrate the diversity around them. This creates a shared understanding and respect for identity. What does this look like? Having friends and feeling connected to community is good for families. Local festivals, community gardens, sporting and cultural activities all offer opportunities to connect to community and belong. Participating in community life builds wellbeing and provides opportunities to share culture. What family or cultural traditions are important to you and your children? How can you share these with friends or neighbours? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-88DCY6-Nk&feature=youtu.be

11.01.2022 Just one of the many projects we do at Goodstart Brisbane Meeanjin Ann St. For ANZAC day this year we invited each class to research and design a poster that pays tribute to our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Soldiers. Toddlers learned about a family of 5 brothers who went to war together and all returned together. Senior Toddlers studied Uncle Harry then created a poster of "Field of Poppies" in tribute to the sacrifices he made for us. Prekindy researched the meaning of the... different colour poppies and learned that over 1000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander Soldiers went to war. Our Kindergarten class learned about many Aboriginal and Torres strait men and women who served our country in the wars, they then created their own pictures to demonstrate their learning. They described their pictures to us. He’s a sad soldier. - S Poppy! - C A blue soldier - T They are fighting with their hands - M This is the garden with the plant - O The flower and the grass. - S This is a orange soldier - A These are poppies. - A The soldiers and the flowers - S

07.01.2022 Today we continued learning about the ocean. To start our learning the children watched snippets of a couple of documentaries, one about the deep ocean and another about coral reefs and more surface ocean environments. We saw lots of sea creatures. Afterwards I asked the children what kind of animals they had seen. To follow up our learning we created our very own ocean in a tank. First we added some sand. Then some small pebbles, the children did well in sharing this and al...l contributed to sprinkling them over the sand. Then we added rocks, shells and some grassed rocks. Last of all we added the animals! A, M, E and C all chose some ocean animals from the basket. Soon our tank was full of life! At this point S, T, T and R came in from outside to have a look. They seemed interested in what they saw as they all had a good look and a poke around. T added some more animals to the tank, including a big shrimp and some seals and T poured in some more pebbles.
