She enjoys spending time with children and is passionate about helping them reach their milestones in safe, caring environment. 24.01.2022 A very big Thank You to Peter and the crew from Marine Rescue Busselton for teaching us how they protect and teach our local community to be safe on the ocean. We were very excited to get a hands on tour of their venue including rescue boats, helicopters, the radar room as well as testing emergency equipment such as flares and life jackets. Thank you for the wonderful service you provide our community and for sharing it with our children.

24.01.2022 As the year draws to a close it is good to look back and reflect on the year that was. Whilst 2020 has presented us with many challenges, it has also given us some good memories too. Take some time with your children, to share as a family, and acknowledge all the things that you have to be thankful for.

24.01.2022 Educator of the week This week Chetna is in the spotlight. She migrated to Australia from India in 2010 and began following her passion of working with children. Chetna is the groupleader for the toddler room and has worked with us for 6 years. Chetna loves knitting, beading and painting in her spare time.

20.01.2022 A very big thank you to Bunnings Warehouse Australia Busselton for their donation of a $100 gift card to our Vacation Care Program. We are looking forward to building and creating in the upcoming school holidays.

20.01.2022 Another simple activity you can do at home is making patterns with elastic bands on everyday objects. We used blocks and construction set pieces to place elastic bands in a pattern. Fine motor, colour recognition, concentration, creativity and problem solving skills all on display.

20.01.2022 Did you know that we have 3 team members who have been with us for over 10 years as well as several who are heading towards this milestone. Today goodstart celebrates years of service for some of our dedicated team members. Thank you to Asha on her two years of service whilst Shannon and Sharlee have achieved ten years.

19.01.2022 Today our Kindy children explored colour mixing with shaving cream. Creative experiences like this builds our prediction and curiosity skills as well as teamwork and enjoyment of socialising with others.

This National Child Protection Week (6 12 September), is an opportunity for us to celebrate the many ways that everyone in the community can make a difference in the life of a child. We are always here to support you, as you support your family and communities. ... 18.01.2022 Today our Vacation Care group visited Millers Ice Cream Margaret River for a playground time and delicious icecream of course. Being the amazing, independent and confident group they are, they all chose and ordered their own ice creams and even gave some suggestions for new possible icecream flavours.

17.01.2022 Wow.... What a different ride 2020 has been for us all so far! We have been working hard to provide a consistent and welcome centre for all our families and educators amongst the events of the outside world. We wanted to say Thank You to our educator team who are the heart and soul of our centre so we have created a space to do just this. Reading the messages from our families and children has made us all feel appreciated. ... Thank You

17.01.2022 Exploring with our sense of taste and smell allows us to better understand our world. Our Nursery children had this big beautiful lemon to smell and cut up with help from their educators. Even though the bitterness of the lemon was strong at first most went back to taste again.

16.01.2022 In the Toddler room, safety is an important issue to everyone. Today, we used our safety rope and walked around the centre to practice our rope holding skills and walking as a group in preparation for any emergencies that may come up. All of the children did a wonderful job and we look forward to our next emergency evacuation practice.

16.01.2022 Our Kindy room is very busy learning "All About Me!', recognising that everyone is unique and special in their own way. The children are enjoying learning about self identity and being a part of a broader community.

Goodstart Busselton acknowledges the Wardandi First Nations people of our local area and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people past and present who have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. Our centre has celebrated the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures through activities, stories and games.

14.01.2022 Learning about science assists children to develop skills of classifying, reasoning and predicting in a fun way. This week the kindy and toddlers have been experimenting with mixing house hold items and the reactions they create when combined.

12.01.2022 Today is National Early Childhood Educator Day where we thank all our educators for the amazing work they do each and every day. This year has been different to many before us due to COVID with our workforce classified as essential workers. This meant we could support families and the community even more when they needed. 11.01.2022 Exploring and learning about our natural environment begins at a young age. With spring starting to sprout, our nursery children have explored their changing gardens using touch, smell, sight and hands on touch. Is your garden starting to bloom?

09.01.2022 For children, everything in their environment is something amazing to explore. Today, we spent some time exploring some wooden blocks to build on our fine motor skills, developing our hand muscles and exploring our curiosity. Blocks are amazing for all ages of children.

09.01.2022 Safety First We regularly practice drills for a variety of emergency situations. One of the most important parts of a drill is for our children to be calm and have an understanding of what we may need to do in a real emergency. Our Toddler children start their day with a walk holding their rope throughout the centre.

07.01.2022 At Goodstart, we believe that you shouldn't have to pay for things you can't use - like paying fees when your centre is closed. That's why Goodstart has removed fees for Public Holidays. A friendly reminder that we will be closed Good Friday and Easter Monday.

07.01.2022 Meet Eri, our OSHC room Group leader. Eri has been working in childrens services for 6 years in Australia. She always wanted to working in a kindy in Japan, However the prerequisite in the job description was she has to play the piano and sing at the same time, which unfortunately she couldnt do. Luckily at Goodstart we can sing, dance and play the piano. But we dont have to all at once.

06.01.2022 Today we celebrated Diwali at the centre with traditional clothing, vegetarian curry and rice lunch and art. Diwali is an Indian festival of lights celebrated each November. Chetna created a beautiful Rangoli, made from coloured sand, to welcome our families when they entered our centre this morning. Kristy also cooked us a delicious vegetarian curry with vegetables, rice and bread.

05.01.2022 Child Protecton Week Part of our conversation this week with our children was recognising, who in our lives, makes us feel safe and can talk to if we need help.

05.01.2022 Our Kindergarten children practice their fine motor grip and coordination with tracing activities. Our grip development occurs starting with Palmer grip through many milestones to tripod grip. Children will also start to favour their left or right hands as their dominant hand.

04.01.2022 Educator of the week Meet Abby Coppendale. Abby has been with us for a year and says her passion for children comes from herself being a big kid at heart and believes children learn through play. Abby is a goal oriented and has recently bought a brand new car. Next year she plans on beginning her diploma of children services.

04.01.2022 The sun is out and so are our little people! The outside play area is a hive of activity today. The children are enjoying building, painting, music, and most of all, interacting with each other. Its wonderful to see them laughing, creating and exploring together, whilst sharing and caring for one another.

03.01.2022 At Goodstart our OSHC children are encouraged to take environmental responsibility for their room. Through creating and caring for their worm farm, the children learn about recycle and sustainability. When the worm compost is ready it’s used on our indoor plants.

03.01.2022 Meet Shannon, our wonderful Director. Shannon likes collecting vintage tea towels and is always up for karaoke Shes worked in childrens services for more than 20 years and has been with us for 10 years. Shannons favourite part of working for Goodstart is the fact that were not for profit so everthing goes back into centre resources for the children and families. Shannons always up for a joke and admits humour is a part of her pedagogy for how she builds connections with children.

03.01.2022 Our lovely Busselton spring days mean we are applying our sunscreen earlier and more often. We are guided by the UV index each day to ensure we are sunsafe with sunscreen, suitable hats and clothing as well as planning outdoor activities in shaded areas. How clever are our independent Toddlers applying their own sunscreen!

02.01.2022 Today we had a visit from Busselton Police who came to share what being a Police Officer is all about. I think we may have some future police officers in our Vacation Care Room. Thank you to our police for all the wonderful work they do in our community
