25.01.2022 Our new cultural shirts have arrived!! Arent they wonderful. As we continue to build upon the cultural safety of our centre we are excited to see our shirts be worn as a part of our uniforms and also help celebrate NAIDOC week in November. #Alwayswasalwayswillbe

25.01.2022 Today we gathered together to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders Childrens Day. We sang and danced to songs using the Gamilaraay language. The children enjoyed watching and listening to what their friends in other rooms were exploring about First Nation People. The smiles and clapping were beautiful to see as we spent this time together and developed our awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. Its wonderful and so empowering to see our journey unfold at Goodstart Calala.

25.01.2022 We have been working so hard on a project that we have been trying to complete for a long time. Although COVID was a little whirlwind for us all, our wonderful educators used the time to work towards creating our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). We are so proud to share that it has been reviewed by Narragunnawali and has now been published. This is a working document that helps us to strive and build upon creating a culturally safe environment for our children, families and the community.

23.01.2022 National NAIDOC Week 2020 celebrations will be held from the 8-15 November. The November dates follow the decision by the National NAIDOC Committee (NNC) to pos...tpone NAIDOC Week from the original July dates due to the impacts and uncertainty from the escalating Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic across our communities and cities. The postponement was aimed at protecting our elders and those in our communities with chronic health issues from the disastrous impacts of COVID19. As cooler weather approaches the need to protect our most susceptible remains. Further announcements regarding the National NAIDOC Awards and the reactivation of the 2020 NAIDOC Local Grants Round will be made within coming weeks. The NNC understands that the July dates for NAIDOC may still be acknowledged by communities and organisations, however we are mindful that those celebrations and physical gatherings will still be impacted by the various State and Territory COVID19 restrictions and social distancing measures. We acknowledge the commitment and tireless work of the many State, Territory, regional and local NAIDOC Committees, organisations and individuals whose passion each year makes NAIDOC Week an outstanding success. We thank you for your understanding and working with us during these uncertain times. The variety of bird life that has been visiting us lately has transpired into some very creative work. The younger preschool children used natural resources in our playground to make a bird feeder and the older children are drawing what they see and learn!

A well deserved win went to Broadmeadow, this time, but we are thrilled to have made it to the final. We would like to thank all of the educators, children and families that have been a part of our journey towards reconciliation, so far, and look forward to continuing this work into the future.
