25.01.2022 Miss Cookie and Educators had a special surprise from Aiden and Oliver today. The brothers had spent the weekend at their Aunty’s bee farm in Allora. Aiden and Oliver arrived with a box of goodies such as a massive pot of honey and oranges from their Aunty’s tree, a bee smoker which calms the bees in their hive by using bark and lighting it up, this produces smoke and helps to move the bees to look inside the hive boxes for honey. Also inside our box of goodies was a shelf out of the hive where the bees produce the honey and build a honeycomb. Aiden and Oliver’s mummy made the staff and children delicious orange and poppy seed muffins. What a wonderful yummy, interesting learning gift !!! Thank you so much Aiden and Oliver @ dalrympleview

22.01.2022 Next Wednesday 2 September is Early Childhood Educators' Day! This year it coincides with the start of spring and we thought what better way to celebrate than ...to say it with flowers! We are calling on our families to help fill our centres with greenery on this important day! It doesn’t matter whether you bring a plant from a shop, something from your garden or even a sneaky snip from the side of the road it will surely put a smile on the faces of our well-deserving teams! 17.01.2022 Learning about healthy foods. The children are learning which foods are "all the time foods" and which foods are "sometimes" foods. Having children develop an understanding of healthy eating options helps us all during meal times to have conversations about foods and what food is good for our bodies and how food helps our bodies function properly.
17.01.2022 We have a new Beehive for our Garden . While Miss Christine was away on holidays she brought us a new Beehive for our native bees that often visit our beautiful big climbing tree and vegetable garden that Miss Mel and the children have built. Stingless native bees enable children to safely explore, engage, learn and experience close up the social behaviours of the bee, an awareness of the impact of human activity on the environment and the interdependence of living things. Fi...rstly we explored the different chambers of the house and how it all worked. Then it was time to place the bee house in its new position. We helped Miss Mel as she placed it on top of the retainer wall in the succulent garden. The children then chose a sign for our beehive, as well as information signs that tell the story of a bees pollination cycle. We are enjoying our sustainable learning and practices here at Goodstart Calliope. The children even more so as the explore, infer, predict and hypothesise in order to develop an increased understanding of the interdependence between land, people, plants and animals See more
14.01.2022 As Miss Tash has been teaching the children all about space and rocket ships. Miss Melissa decided to paint a solar system in our playground to ignite the children's knowledge about our solar system and the planet's within it.

07.01.2022 Happy Halloween Party Day!!!!! Although it’s not a traditional Australian holiday, we incorporate everyone’s culture in our community and love a great excuse for a dress up party whilst learning about others cultures and traditions Today we celebrated the traditions of Halloween by dressing in costumes and telling G rated tales of witches and ghosts. We discussed how some families enjoy Pumpkin carvings that turn into glowering jack-o'-lanterns. We danced to classic ...children’s Halloween songs and engaged in spooky craft and art activities. It was wonderful to see our teachers and friends dressed up, as well as feeling excited about own spooky costumes. Background history of Halloween originates with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, the people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. Back in the eighth century, Pope Gregory the third designated November 1st as a time to honour all saints; the evening before was known as All Hallows Eve, and later Halloween. Overtime, Halloween evolved into the day of activities like trick or treating, carving pumpkins, festival gatherings, donning costumes and eating treats See more

03.01.2022 On Friday the 23rd we took part in raising awareness for kids who are deaf or hearing impaired, we did this by getting and wearing a bold shirt Together we donated $30.20 towards Loud Shirt Day, this support will help give deaf and hearing-impaired children access to support and the gift of speech, a little bit can go a long way how awesome is that!
03.01.2022 We are privileged to have an indigenous family that are excited to share their culture with us and support us to embed their culture into our educational programs with all the children at our centre through resources such as beautiful books and traditional stories that support local languages, as well as gorgeous traditional dolls clothing. Pre-Kindergarten were so excited and intrigued as they explored the Aboriginal culture and traditions. Having an understanding of and respect for the Indigenous culture as well as other cultures within our Goodstart Calliope family helps children learn many important values. It also helps them understand the story of their country and enables them to develop a sense of being and belonging. We are grateful to have such a close connection with our families.
02.01.2022 Hello Families Just a reminder that the centre will be closed for the Gladstone Show Holiday on Monday the 10th of August 2020. Thanks ... Mel H See more
02.01.2022 Day for Daniel is tommorow the 30th of October. We ask you to join us by wearing red to raise awareness for child safety, protection, and harm prevention. Held annually on the last Friday of October, Day for Daniel honours the memory of Daniel Morcombe.
01.01.2022 Miss Mel and Miss Mika opened the Calliope Grocery store today for the children to role play and explore. Did you know that role play helps children to learn about themselves and the world around them? Dramatic play experiences such as our Grocery store, is just one of the first ways children learn about their likes and dislikes, their interests, and their abilities. They experiment with role play to make sense out of what they’ve observed in their home life while shopping with their families, and then transfer it to their educational setting. :)
01.01.2022 We have a new bike track!!! It is still a work in progress, but we are loving it already. The children have been riding around in circles, while learning to ride different size bikes and exploring road safety. They have been participating in racing games, making up and leading new games. Assisting their friends when they loose their balance and talking amongst each other about how to be safe on the bikes. The children have been singing songs together such as the the wheels on the bus and using signs such as STOP, GO and GIVE WAY, while being completely mesmerised with our functioning traffic lights.
