This supports the children in their role play development and working together in small groups to enhance their communication skills. Learning Outcome 4: children are confident and involved learners
21.01.2022 Today we had a visit from the fire brigade! Learning Space 3 have been focusing on emergency services, including police, ambulance and fire, and today we saw the real thing! We all got to spray the hose, wear some of the uniform and ride in the truck. A massive thankyou to the Claremont Fire Brigade for visiting and supporting our interest in this area.

20.01.2022 The children in Learning Space 5 had an excursion to Woolworths in Claremont Village today. They reviewed road safety rules before setting off, walking all the way there and back in their high visibility vests and Goodstart hats. Woolworths were incredibly accommodating, helping children to learn about fresh fruit and vegetables, exploring the various deli, bakery and dairy areas. Children were provided the opportunity to make their own fruit kebabs, and given biscuits and goodie bags to take home when the tour finished. Thankyou so much to Woolworths Claremont and our special parent helper, Ashley White.
20.01.2022 Flight of the Conchords teamed up with children to write a hip hop song about helping sick kids. It was amazing.

18.01.2022 Today is a sad one, as it is our last day with the wonderful, vibrant Caitlin. Caitlin is leaving us to move to Queensland with her family, and after so many years with her it will be very hard to say goodbye. Caitlin is one of the few who has worked with almost every family who has walked through our doors, remembering every parent and every sibling even years after caring for them. She is truly one of the family and we wish her the best of luck in the future, and hope that she comes back to visit us all soon.
17.01.2022 The children in Learning Space 5 had a wonderful surprise visitor today- a baby Tasmanian Devil! Big thanks to Alysha from the Devils In Danger Foundation Inc. for educating us on the importance of keeping our Devils safe!
17.01.2022 You may have noticed a new face in Learning Space 4. Angela is our new assistant, and she comes to us with many years of experience. Angela is a beautiful ray of sunshine so please dont be scared to introduce yourself or your little ones whenever you see her around. Unfortunately this also means that we have had to say goodbye to Angie MacDonald, who has taken a bold step and moved to the gold coast with her family. We miss her already and wish her all the best for the future.

13.01.2022 Have a look at our amazing little investigators in Learning Space 3! Today educators brought in some natural resources from the garden for children to explore, and extend upon their interests in bugs. After some searching, we discovered that we had accidentally brought in a real bug as well! Children used magnifying glasses to get a better look at our new friend, counting his legs, and watching as he crawled across the table. We talked about where he might be going, and together we decided that he must be looking for his home, so we decided to take him outside to the strawberry garden so that he would "have lots of yummy food to eat" and "find his mummy and daddy". How gentle and kind you all are!!
12.01.2022 Some fantastic things were happening at Goodstart Claremont last week, including National NAIDOC week celebrations, which included exploring and celebrating the first people, their culture and beliefs. It was also our final week with our artist in residence and yoga and massage instructor, Jeanette. Jeanette has extensive experience as an early childhood educator, yoga instructor and baby massage therapist. She brought some wonderful new skills to LS1 and LS5, holding art workshops, yoga and massage sessions and sharing general relaxation techniques. What a great week!

09.01.2022 On Tuesday in Learning Space 5 the children were extremely fortunate to have a wallaby whos name was Rooby visit us. Grant and Kimberley have hand raised Rooby after her mother was killed. The children in LS5 have been talking about water, how important it is and the impacts to animals and the environment. We learnt that Roobys mother had been hit by a car after she ventured into a residential area looking for green grass and water as it is so dry in the bush. Rooby has be...en very lucky to have found Grant and for him to care for her. We learnt that Rooby drinks special kangaroo milk from a bottle that she eats fruit and grass and sleeps in a beanie. When getting the opportunity to pat Rooby, we discovered that her fur is very soft. Some of the children asked if Rooby had a pouch? Grant explained when she gets older she will have one. We watched curiously as Rooby explored learning Space 5. We thank Grant, Kimberley and of course Rooby for taking the time to visit us! Learning outcome 2: children are connected with and contrupibute to their world. Learning outcome 4: children are confident and involved learners.

05.01.2022 Megan Mitchell - Australian National Childrens Commissioner is calling on Australias youngest citizens to have their voices heard in the 2018 Childrens Right...s Poll. The Poll asks all children and young people - aged 17 and under - how they feel about growing up in Australia, what rights are important to them, and how easy it is for them to access necessities like medicine and school. The results from the poll will be used to help the Australian Human Rights Commission include the voices of Australian children and young people in an upcoming report to the United Nations. The poll closes on 10 August. Visit the Kids Rights Survey website to participate and find out more.
05.01.2022 We are so lucky to have such a dedicated group of educators, and last Friday our wonderful Mary from Learning Space 5 was honored by Jacquie Petrusma MP at a ceremony held in Hobart. Mary was awarded a scholarship that will help her to achieve directorship, and become a leader in her field. We are so proud of Mary, and it is fantastic to see her get the recognition she so greatly deserves.
04.01.2022 Blood cancer is the third most common cause of cancer death in Australia, taking more lives than breast cancer or melanoma. Although research is helping, sadly someone loses their life to blood cancer every two hours. The Leukaemia Foundation is the only charity dedicated to helping more Australians with any blood cancer or related blood disorder survive and live a better quality of life.... Goodstart Claremont are hosting a lantern walk around our local community to raise funds for blood cancer research. Join us on Friday 5 October from 6.30pm 7.30pm and enjoy a hot cup of chocolate with marshmallows afterwards. Lanterns are $20 each and may be purchased on the night or online at lightthenight.org.au/events/claremont Donations can also be made on the night. A display is set up in the front foyer, please donate and help yourself to a promotional gift.
