20.01.2022 This video story is a wonderful way to talk to children about what is occurring in the world around us all at the moment. Birdie and the virus. https://www.childrens.health.qld.gov.au/covid-19-birdie-vi/

19.01.2022 To begin our week of Reconciliation we would first like to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which we stand both past and present. We would like to share a resourse from Play School of Acknowledgment of Country. https://iview.abc.net.au//play-school-acknowledgement-of-c. We would also like to share our Acknowlegment of county we do with our children during our morning Yarning circle at Goodstart Early Learning Cooranbong. "This is the land" ( hands to the... ground ) This is the sky (hands to the sky) Here are my friends (Hands stretched out in front) And here am I (Point to yourself) We thank the Awabakal people for the land on which we stand. 18.01.2022 What a wonderful way to keep in touch with those that are not so near at this time.

18.01.2022 Parent Testimonial As a parent of a child who attends Cooranbong Goodstart Early learning centre I'd happily share a few reason's with you as to why I chose the centre for my child to attend the centre. My son had attended two bigger centre's in the local area, from which my daughter also attended so I had a good relationship with the centre and staff but the centre felt big and busy. I wanted a more family oriented care for my son to nurture his childhood, curiosity and deve...lopment. From my first visit with your centre I noticed the peace in your outdoor area, you can hear the birds in the surrounding bush environment, the size of the outdoor area, children have room to run and for imaginative play. Having only two age group rooms in the centre made the centre feel more family like in the relationships with staff that interact with my son and with other families even at busy drop off and pick up times. I appreciate that all staff be it from the other room, casual or management frequently come up and share stories with me on how my son's day has been because they have contributed to a part of his day. I highly recommend Coornbong early learning centre for other families and staff for the opportunity to experience a community based centre. Kindly Jo

09.01.2022 We think it’s safe to say that 2020 has been a year unlike any other. For the world, for Australia and for our Goodstart team. Over the past few months people, families and communities have been tried and tested in the most extraordinary ways. As frontline essential workers our ‘Goodstarters’ rose to this challenge, stepping up to support our 60,000 families and 71,000 children through some incredibly challenging times. So we’ve declared this week Thank You Week! A week to ce...lebrate and recognise our 10,000+ Goodstarters for continuing to go above and beyond in face of adversity. We have a few special surprises planned for our Goodstarters this week, but in the meantime we'd love for our Goodstart families to get involved too! Please share your messages of thanks and support below and tag an educator or a centre who has really made a difference. #ThankYouWeek #InThisTogether

09.01.2022 From Science Week in August For children of all ages, the benefits of science are enormous. Doing science projects helps develop a child's resourcefulness, particularly their skills at goal-setting, planning, and problem-solving. It also nurtures intellectual curiosity, helping children acquire new ways of asking questions and understanding the world. We all gathered in a circle and Miss Leanne had two large blocks of ice with flowers and leaves frozen inside. The children s...howed a lot of curiosity and questioning as they passed the ice around the circle. -How did the flowers get inside? - How does water freeze? -Why is it so cold? - How long will it take to melt? These were only a few of the questions asked by the children as the ice was passed around and everyone explored it using their hands and eyes. As a group we discovered the answers through problem solving and group discussion. Next Miss Leanne showed the children a large tub of salt and asked ‘What will happen when I pour salt on the ice?’ The children were not sure so seemed very excited to find out. They watched on curiously as the salt was poured on. The ice started to melt very quickly and made a slight crackling sound. We soon discovered and learnt a new word as Leanne informed us that the action was called ‘dissolving’ What an amazing experience that definitely enlightened everyone’s minds through discovery, experimentation and discussion. Science week has been an exciting week as we have investigated and made discoveries daily at group time and throughout our own investigations in play.

09.01.2022 Yesterday the preschool children and educators joined together to be part of R U Ok day. During our group time Yarning circle we discussed ways we could make others feel safe and ok when we share time with them. The children added their own voices and made ideas and suggestions for ways to do this. We all learnt that it’s ok to feel sad, it’s ok to feel angry to and it’s ok to feel happy. If we share our thoughts with others sometimes this can help us. ... Ben and Leanne made a sunflower using the creative arts. Sunflowers are bright and cheery and turn to the sun to keep themselves up strong. If there is no sun they bow their heads. Educators encouraged, guided and supported the children to be someone’s bright sun today and help them stand up tall just like our sunflowers.

07.01.2022 Hi Goodstart families! As you know the Government announced that the 'free childcare' package will expire on 12 July and that the CCS system will return from 13 July, along with new transition measures (up until October) to support the sector and parents as they move back to the subsidy. This announcement is a little bit complex so we are working hard to understand what this means for our families and for Goodstart. We will provide an update to our centres and our families over the coming days as we learn more. #5weekstogo!

04.01.2022 At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them. Lest We Forget
