24.01.2022 When we teach children to pay attention to their breath, then educate them on how to breathe fully and deeply we are actually familiarising them with the effects of the parasympathetic nervous system. This branch of the autonomic nervous system induces calm and relaxation ; it sends signals through the body that all is well and safe. From this place of calm and ease we are better able to access and strengthen connections to the area of the brain that helps manage our emotions and solve problems more skillfully.

18.01.2022 Here at Goodstart Currumbin Waters could not agree more! A child's work is PLAY. By allowing children to just PLAY and just BE, we are allowing children to grow into capable and confident learners. Research has proven that children that are immersed in play and immersed with opportunity to be curious explorers, researchers of the world and their own learning, challengers of their imagination have better and successful learning outcomes later on in life.

13.01.2022 Fine Motor: Fine motor skills are those that involve a refined use of the small muscles which control the hand, fingers and thumb. With the development of these skills, a child is able to complete important tasks such as writing, feeding oneself, buttoning and zippering. These abilities gradually develop through experience and exposure to a variety of toys, materials and even foods. Why is fine motor skill development important? Little hands need to develop dexterity and strength. We, as adults, can help this process by encouraging children to play, explore and interact with a variety of items. Toys, clothing fasteners, safe scissors and play dough are all tactile examples of practices that facilitate fine motor development.
