23.01.2022 $870 RAISED We just wanted to send a big giant thank-you to everyone involved in raising much needed funds for the devastating bushfire reliefs. From making and/or buying products, to donating raffle items to buying tickets, guessing how many jellybeans or even just random money donations in the many tins around the centre... you have all helped raise these funds and we are so grateful. Today we finally counted and donated the money. $870 was divided up into 3 places.... $110 was spent on adopting 2 koalas who had severe injuries due to the bushfires. This also bought two trees - one for each of them $395 was donated to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal - 100% of their profits go straight to communities that have been affected. $365 was donated to the WIRES organization that helps injured animals from the bushfires. 21.01.2022 UPDATE FOR VICTORIANS! As of 11:59PM 11th of October 2020. All Victorians must wear a fitted face mask when they leave home, no matter where they live. As restrictions ease and movement increases, the effectiveness of a face mask is even more important.... You must wear a fitted face mask that covers the nose and mouth. We are so lucky to have such a dedicated bunch of educators like Raels who have been with us for so many years. ... What a wonderful 14 years we had. 05.01.2022 KIA ORA LOUISE PERROTT This week our centre had a loss that we never saw coming and one we had never ever imagined could happen. We lost a friend, an educator and one very valued asset to a very close community. Louise Perrott was an integral part of the community at Goodstart Drysdale. Her passion and energy for her job, for her colleagues and for the little people that she absolutely adored was something that we all admired and will be what we miss the most. Louise h...ad a special way of making everyone around her feel instantly better and ready to tackle any day and any situation that was thrown our way. She had such a special way of connecting with every child that came through her room; and worked hard to make sure everyone worked as a team. From the minute you walked in the door, Louise, till the second you walked out the door (usually ATLEAST 30 minutes later than your shift ending, no matter how much I growled at you for doing too much overtime) you accepted any challenge and you did it with such a positive energy and a smile on your face. I cant describe to you how lucky we feel to have had the privilege of working alongside such a powerful, strong and amazing woman. There will never be a day we dont think of you. You will be remembered with great fondness and I promise you that we will make sure your memory lives on. Thankyou to everyone for their support over the last week. From parents, past and present, to other centres, to people who knew and loved Louise; I thankyou for your kind words, your help, and your thoughts. Our centre, our team, our families and our community has been hurting, but your support means more than words. Lastly but most importantly; our deepest thoughts are with Darin, Sarah and Karl.
