25.01.2022 In HUGE #thankyouweek news our CEO Julia Davison just announced that all permanent Goodstart centre team members who worked tirelessly through COVID (and still continue to do so) will get a free day off on us! This is on the back of the exciting update yesterday that every Goodstarter in our centres will also be receiving a surprise gift pack (worth $200) from our friends over at Good360 Australia as a thank you from them! #thankyouweek #loveourGoodstarters
24.01.2022 Happy Early Childhood Educators’ Day! If there is one group of people who deserves to have their own day, it’s definitely early childhood educators! We have already seen so many gorgeous flowers, plants, drawings and gifts flooding our centres this morning. A heartfelt thank you to all of our incredible educators who are making memories and changing lives every second of every day. A huge thank you to our Goodstart families as well for joining us today to share the love, making sure they know just how special they are. #EarlyChildhoodEducatorsDay #LoveMyECE

22.01.2022 Read along with us this National Reconciliation Week! "How the Birds got their Colours" by Mary Albert. We love this book which tells the story of how birds released colour into the world at the time of creation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtRHtCa6GZ8 For those of you who have signed up to our online learning hub Goodstart@Home we have also uploaded some lovely National Reconciliation Week activities for your family to explore together at home. https://athome.goodstart.org.au/#/public-dashboar
21.01.2022 Today is Indigenous Literacy Day. At Goodstart we are deeply committed to Reconciliation, we want to recognise our rich culture, history and connection to our First Australians every day and celebrate by embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in all that we do. We know that language is more than just a means to communicate, it is an essential characteristic that makes people and communities unique and plays a central role in a sense of identity. Did... you know there were more than 250 Indigenous Australian languages spoken on the continent at the time of European settlement in 1788? Now Only 13 traditional Indigenous languages are still acquired by children today. (source: Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies website) In Australia the 2018 NAPLAN report indicated that only 36% of Indigenous Year 5 students in very remote areas are at or above the national minimum reading standards, compared to 96% for non-Indigenous students in major cities. Keep Indigenous language strong by finding out the language of the Traditional Custodians where you’re located by visiting https://gambay.com.au and incorporating it into activities with your children. Advocate for better access to literacy resources for remote Indigenous communities by learning more from the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. https://www.indigenousliteracyfoundation.org.au/

21.01.2022 Last week we launched a special partnership with BW Tribal to provide all 16,000 of our Goodstart team with a free Goodstart NAIDOC shirt. Melody Ingra, Goodstart’s Cultural Liaison said the initiative was about enabling all Goodstart employees to connect with this year’s theme of ‘Heal Country’. Our teams can choose from three beautifully designed shirts created by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists Kiya Watt, Joel Sam and Leah Brideson, each with their own un...ique story. We take seriously our responsibility to ensure the next generation of Australians grow up with connection to and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, people and our true history. By wearing our shirts across more than 670 communities nationally, we hope to spark many conversations ahead of and during National NAIDOC Week with each other, our children and our families. #NAIDOC https://www.goodstart.org.au//goodstarters-to-proudly-%E2% See more
21.01.2022 This week is Early Learning Matters Week. This year will be a little different to previous years but it's still really important that we continue to raise awareness about how valuable high quality early learning is for our children. We know high-quality early education and care supports children to be confident, enthusiastic learners, building a foundation for wellbeing and achievement throughout their lives. Help us share the word by joining the Early Learning Matters Week virtual community, and sharing your wonderful early years stories on social using #earlylearningmatters https://www.facebook.com/earlylearningmattersweek
20.01.2022 With JobKeeper ending on March 28 we know many families will be worried about what this means for their family budget. Did you know the Government provides additional child care subsidies for families experiencing financial hardship? You may be eligible to receive up to 13 weeks of additional subsidy towards your child care fees, for up to 100 hours of care per fortnight. In most cases, these subsidies will cover the full fees charged by your centre. More information in the article below. https://www.goodstart.org.au//march-2021/support-for-end-o
20.01.2022 We think it’s safe to say that 2020 has been a year unlike any other. For the world, for Australia and for our Goodstart team. Over the past few months people, families and communities have been tried and tested in the most extraordinary ways. As frontline essential workers our ‘Goodstarters’ rose to this challenge, stepping up to support our 60,000 families and 71,000 children through some incredibly challenging times. So we’ve declared this week Thank You Week! A week to ce...lebrate and recognise our 10,000+ Goodstarters for continuing to go above and beyond in face of adversity. We have a few special surprises planned for our Goodstarters this week, but in the meantime we'd love for our Goodstart families to get involved too! Please share your messages of thanks and support below and tag an educator or a centre who has really made a difference. #ThankYouWeek #InThisTogether

17.01.2022 UPDATE 2pm: Issue has been resolved and phone lines should be open again. OLD: We are currently experiencing phone issues across our network. This year, Goodstarters have gone above and beyond in the face of adversity and our Goodstart community of children, families and teams have come together like never before. 15.01.2022 Next Wednesday 2 September is Early Childhood Educators' Day! This year it coincides with the start of spring and we thought what better way to celebrate than to say it with flowers! We are calling on our families to help fill our centres with greenery on this important day! It doesn’t matter whether you bring a plant from a shop, something from your garden or even a sneaky snip from the side of the road it will surely put a smile on the faces of our well-deserving teams!
15.01.2022 The Federal Government has signaled that it is thinking seriously about ending 'free child care' very soon. Our friends over at The Parenthood are keen to understand what this decision might mean for families with children in early learning and care all over Australia. If you can please spare 5 minutes to take their short confidential survey.

09.01.2022 Last week we held our annual national 'Goodies Awards' (virtually of course!) and were again overwhelmed by the incredible submissions from our teams across Australia. The Goodies is about recognising the brilliance, compassion, determination and innovation our people bring to their centres and roles every day. As our CEO Julia Davison said, "At a time when COVID-19 turned our world upside down, our centres and our teams of Goodstarters exceeded all expectations and stepped up when the nation needed them most". A huge congratulations to all the state and national winners, and everyone who nominated - you are exceptional. https://www.goodstart.org.au//goodstart-recognises-excepti

02.01.2022 Hi Goodstart families! As you know the Government announced today that the 'free childcare' package will expire on 12 July and that the CCS system will return from 13 July, along with new transition measures (up until October) to support the sector and parents as they move back to the subsidy. This announcement is a little bit complex so we are working hard to understand what this means for our families and for Goodstart. We will provide an update to our centres and our families later today and over the coming days as we learn more. #5weekstogo!
