24.01.2022 What is National Reconciliation Week? National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. The dates for NRW remain the same each year - 27 May to 3 June. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively.... Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We invite you to join in the learning about National Reconciliation Week at home through Goodstart@Home which is free for Goodstart families. Listen and learn from the stories and activities on the site. Take a moment to explore how you can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia: athome.goodstart.org.au

23.01.2022 Goodstart Evanston Park acknowledges that our children, families and educators learn and play together on Kaurna Land. We acknowledge the Kaurna People as the Traditional Custodians of this Land and recognise their spiritual connection to the Land. We will continue to work together to care for lands and waterways. We pay our respects to Kaurna Elders: past, present and future.

22.01.2022 WARNING! Did you know it can be up to 15 degrees hotter under the canopy of an enclosed pram? If you need to cover the pram to keep your baby shaded, use a larg...e canopy, a mesh or perforated sun shield designed for strollers, instead of a blanket. This will ensure adequate airflow and allow you to still see your baby. Keep your baby cool by seeking shade wherever possible and avoid taking babies or young children out in the hottest part of the day. Stay #HealthyInTheHeat and visit www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/healthyintheheat

20.01.2022 ~ Nursery One Yard ~ We are finally there! After weeks and weeks of hard work our yard is ready to go. Huge thank you to Ricky and Michael for the weekend time you gave up to help make our vision come to life, we couldn’t have done it without you. Our babies had their first taste of their new space today (photos to come) and it’s safe to say they loved it! We are super excited for all the possibilities of our new environment.

19.01.2022 We think it’s safe to say that 2020 has been a year unlike any other. For the world, for Australia and for our Goodstart team. Over the past few months people, ...families and communities have been tried and tested in the most extraordinary ways. As frontline essential workers our ‘Goodstarters’ rose to this challenge, stepping up to support our 60,000 families and 71,000 children through some incredibly challenging times. So we’ve declared this week Thank You Week! A week to celebrate and recognise our 10,000+ Goodstarters for continuing to go above and beyond in face of adversity. We have a few special surprises planned for our Goodstarters this week, but in the meantime we'd love for our Goodstart families to get involved too! Please share your messages of thanks and support below and tag an educator or a centre who has really made a difference. #ThankYouWeek #InThisTogether

18.01.2022 An exciting day for the team at Goodstart Evanston Park with a visit from our CEO Julia Davison after their recent sucess at the Goodie Awards. Congratulations to the team for their continued dedication and thank you Julia for making the time to visit in SA.

17.01.2022 ~Watch this space~ Our Nursery one team, and their families, have been hard at work over the last few weeks to transform the old garden area on the side of our centre into an outdoor space for our Nursery one children. This outdoor space will give our children the chance to explore and be outside without their educators worrying about them getting underfoot of older children and give our older babies and toddlers the chance to fully enjoy their outside space without worry. The garden beds have been moved out into the yard for the children to enjoy and be responsible for in their own space. While it is a slow process we are excited about our progress so far.

17.01.2022 From 7 Aug 2020, it will be mandatory for children attending an early childhood service to be up-to-date with vaccinations. Parents are required to provide appr...oved immunisation records upon enrolment, and at other specific ages throughout the child’s attendance at: childcare centres family day care pre-schools kindergartens early learning centres Early childhood services are also required to keep a copy of all approved immunisation records for the duration a child is enrolled in their service. Retaining immunisation records onsite will enable a faster response time during a vaccine preventable disease outbreak, and help protect vulnerable children. An approved immunisation record is a child’s immunisation history statement from the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR): https://bit.ly/31tPvw9 Check the AIR to see your child’s records, and talk to your immunisation provider to ensure your child is fully immunised. 08.01.2022 ~ Nursery One Yard ~ Even a rainy weekend won’t slow our roll. Progress in our new Nursery one space is coming along well. We are loving the mix of natural spaces for our babies to explore as well as practical low maintenance areas that we can use for cots and other large items.

07.01.2022 The year before school is so important for young children. It’s where they learn the skills to develop the confidence they need to make a smooth transition to school. At Goodstart the Kindergarten program is evidence based and is specifically designed for children aged 3-5 years. The curriculum is based on the Early Years Learning Framework, which is delivered by degree-qualified Early Childhood Teachers. This program nurtures children’s collaboration, communication, creativi...ty and critical thinking skills. Our approach gives your child the full benefits of a daily learning program while you are supported with the longer care hours we provide. That means your child gets the best start to their schooling, while you juggle the day-to-day demands of life. Find out more at: www.goodstart.org.au/kindergarten-sa

05.01.2022 Don't miss out on Kindy 2021! Enrolments are now open for our kindergarten program. Find out more: https://bit.ly/36tiReG

02.01.2022 It’s Dental Hygiene Week this week (3 9 August), so we’ve created some fun activities you can do with your toddlers to encourage them to brush their teeth on our Goodstart@Home website. These activities are easy to do and a great way to support the development and understanding of dental hygiene and teeth brushing techniques. This year’s Dental Hygiene Week theme is all about sugar and ‘How much sugar is hiding is your trolley?’ We’d like to encourage families to be mindful... of hidden sugars in food. Making healthy choices at the supermarket extends to making similar smart food and drink choices at home. Early childhood tooth decay can affect your child’s health and cause pain, making it hard for your child to sleep, eat or speak. It can also affect your child’s ability to concentrate and learn. Children who develop dental decay at an early age are more likely to suffer from it throughout childhood. To find out more about Dental Health Week visit the ADA’s Your Dental Health website: https://www.ada.org.au/tips
