21.01.2022 Dear families, 2020 has been a big year for the world, for Australia and for our Goodstart team. Over the past few months people, families and communities have been tried and tested in the most extraordinary ways.... As frontline essential workers our Goodstarters rose to this challenge, stepping up to support our 60,000 families and 71,000 children through an incredibly uncertain and challenging time. So here at Goodstart weve declared this week Thank You Week, a week in which we celebrate and recognise our 10,000+ strong team who have gone above and beyond in the face of adversity. We would like to encourage you to leave a message of appreciation on our thank you wall or on this post to our amazing educators for all of their ongoing support and care during these challenging times!

20.01.2022 Enjoying the sunshine outside this morning

19.01.2022 This morning our little friend Reuben is out exploring his neighbouring conservation reserve. Weve taken buckets to collect different natural resources to explore with our friends once back at childcare! Please feel free to join us collecting loose parts for everyone to explore we live and we learn on Wurundjeri land

19.01.2022 Walking water fun in the toddler room this morning! How does the water get from one cup to the other? With a little bit of magic called capillary action. The adhesive force between the paper towel and the water are more powerful than the cohesive force inside the water itself. This results in the paper towel pulling the water up. The water keeps traveling up the paper towel, across the bridge and into the other cup !! ... Please try this at home and let us know how you go

19.01.2022 Our spoonville community is looking absolutely amazing ! We love all of the bright colours that have been used, if you havent already please feel free to add a spoon friend to our community

18.01.2022 "They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them." LEST WE FORGET

18.01.2022 NAIDOC Week (8 15 November) provided us all a time to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and achievements. And here at Goodstart, we were also thrilled to launch our new Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) during NAIDOC Week! Our national RAP supports the centre based RAP that we have been working on here at our centre. Please enjoy this short video of the launch. A copy of the Stretch RAP is on the Goodstart website and if you are interested to know what ...we are doing in-centre with our Centre RAP let us know we’d love to hear from you! https://vimeo.com/480532605/0301c89153

11.01.2022 Dear families, As you know we are waiting on more detailed information from the State and Federal Governments about the impact of Stage 4 restrictions on our centre. We expect to know more tomorrow but in the meantime heres some information on our plans. What is likely to happen this week:... At this stage we plan to open as usual on Thursday and Friday for eligible children Once we have more information on who will be permitted to send their children to our centre we will be in touch but if you believe your family is likely to be a permitted worker your child can attend as normal Here are a few things we can be sure of: If your child is not permitted to attend for the next 6 weeks your gap fees will be waived and all direct debit arrangements paused It will be important to keep your childs booking with us during this time as it ensures we still receive Government funding so that we can pay wages and be ready to welcome your family when the restrictions are lifted We will apply for more absences for your child if you are concerned will exceed the current 42 days of CCS allowable absences From Monday 10th August (unless we are instructed by the government to do otherwise): We will be accepting children from permitted workers and those who need extra support at this time Our strict hygiene rules including temperature checks will continue Our centre team will offer remote learning for children who are not able to attend the centre with educator time being offered on-line and even more home learning resources being made available through Goodstart@Home Thanks again for your continuing support during this difficult and uncertain time. Please dont hesitate to call or email me with any questions or concerns. Casandra Mack Centre Director
