25.01.2022 Congratulations to all our amazing 2019 Kindergarten Graduates Last night we had the pleasure of hosting our 2019 Kinder Graduation. All our fabulous Kindergarten children received their well earned certificates and performed a concert for their families and friends, then followed by a relaxed dinner, fun and dancing. On behalf of all of us at Goodstart Frankston South Stotts Lane, we wish all the children going off to school in 2020 all the best and hope all thei...r dreams come too A special thanks to our very talented team at Stotts Lane and in particular Suzie and Roz for all their hard work in leading up to this event. A huge shout out to Gwen, our centre Chef for all the food preparations, and Charlie from Zen Trailers for providing and donating all the meats as well as cooking the BBQ for all the children and their families to enjoy Thanks for choosing Goodstart Frankston South Stotts Lane as your Kindergarten of choice.

24.01.2022 What a magical afternoon at Stotts lane. Christmas carols, Santa, yummy food, fun and glorious sunshine Thank you to all the families and friends that joined us today for our annual Christmas party

24.01.2022 And the people stayed home. And read books, and listened, and rested, and exercised, and made art, and played games, and learned new ways of being, and were still. And listened more deeply. Some meditated, some prayed, some danced. Some met their shadows. And the people began to think differently. And the people healed. And, in the absence of people living in ignorant, dangerous, mindless, and heartless ways, the earth began to heal. And when the danger passed, and the peopl...e joined together again, they grieved their losses, and made new choices, and dreamed new images, and created new ways to live and heal the earth fully, as they had been healed. 23.01.2022 The theory of loose parts Loose Parts Play Theory was first introduced by an architect, Simon Nicholson, in the 1970s. He proposed that the loose parts in our Early Years environment empower PLAY & creativity. By offering children a wide & variety of materials which can be joined, combined, moved, stacked, lined up & with no specific direction or way of playing with them. Children are free to become the designers in their own play. Free from constraints & restrictions. ... Loose parts can be as small as buttons or as big as drain pipes. There is evidence that all children love to interact with variables, such as materials and shapes; smells and other physical phenomena, such as electricity, magnetism and gravity; media such as gases and fluids; sounds, music, motion; chemical interactions, cooking and fire; and other humans, and animals, plants, words, concepts and ideas. With all these things all children love to play, experiment discover and invent and have fun.

23.01.2022 This is truly special. Enjoy

23.01.2022 The heart is central to everything we do Stay well everyone Stay home & stay safe

22.01.2022 Staying safe and clean

21.01.2022 In a time like we have never experienced, we can share with you the most beautiful poem that has been shared with us, thank you to the author Louise Gribbons. A way to explain to children what we are currently experiencing. At our centre we look to Rudolph Steiner/Waldorf Education and the connection with nature, showing children the natural rhythms of life and revealing our kinship with all living things A poem for us all...... THE TIME WE SPRING-CLEANED THE WORLD The world it got so busy, There were people all around. They left their germs behind them; In the air and on the ground. These germs grew bigger and stronger. They wanted to come and stay. They didnt want to hurt anyone - They just really wanted to play. Sometimes they tried to hold your hand, Or tickled your throat or your nose. They could make you cough and sneeze And make your face as red as a rose. And so these germs took over. They started to make people ill, And with every cough we coughed More and more germs would spill. All the queens and kings had a meeting. Its time to clean the world up! they said. And so they had to close lots of fun stuff, Just so these germs couldnt spread. We couldnt go to cinemas Or restaurants for our tea. There was no football or parties, The world got as quiet as can be. The kids stopped going to school, The mums and dads went to work less. Then a great, big, giant scrubbing brush Cleaned the sky and the sea and the mess! Dads started teaching the sums, Big brothers played with us more, Mums were in charge of homework And we read and played jigsaws galore! The whole world was washing their hands And building super toilet roll forts! Outside was quiet and peaceful, Now home was the place for all sports. So we played in the world that was home And our days filled up with fun and love, And the germs they grew smaller and smaller And the sun watched from up above. Then one morning the sun woke up early, She smiled and stretched her beams wide. The world had been fully spring cleaned, It was time to go back outside! We opened our doors oh so slowly And breathed in the clean and fresh air. We promised that forever and always Of this beautiful world wed take care! Louise Gribbons

20.01.2022 Invitations to come and play Sending out subliminal messages, inviting a child to be curious about their environment. Creating opportunities for children to touch and investigate Through the use of recycled materials, authentic resources & loose parts children can explore the natural world around them Water, ceramics, glass, wood, pine cones, leaves, real items that come from the earth. ... Igniting hands on experiences that allow children to potter, tinker & explore Lets inspire a generation of thinkers & doers Children who are eager to have a go, learn through touch, feel and investigation.

18.01.2022 Lest we fgorget

18.01.2022 HAPPY MOTHERS DAY It takes two people to make a baby, but only one of them can carry it for 9 months and produce a miracle called birth. Then the feeding process, breast or any feeding process for that matter, is a major chore and responsibility. Keeping someone alive. Whoa. Then the love and influence daily, minute by minute, until the child gets old enough to fend for themselves.... Add to that some mums having 2,3,4, or more children and juggling/balancing all those needs ubiquitously. Seriously, we take mums for granted because they just do their stuff. If it is worthy to celebrate the sacrifice, suffering, death and resurrection of one human the way we do, I reckon we should do the same for every mum who sacrifices her life on most occasions just as selflessly. Today is a day for celebration. Love your mum big time today, and then love her the same way tomorrow.

14.01.2022 Music definitely lifts the spirits. Our Kinder children have updated an old classic Head, shoulders, knees and toes reflecting the signs of our times.

13.01.2022 Dental Incursion for our Kinder children Today our Kinder children were visited by a couple of Dental Nurses. These qualified nurses covered the basics of dental hygiene and educated the children about how food and nutrition influences our oral health.

12.01.2022 The end of another beautiful week of investigation and discovery

11.01.2022 Learning about sustainability starts with everyday practice. Babies and toddlers can begin by watching adults model these behaviours. They may learn through song or rhyme as educators verbalise what they are doing. Children over three can begin to reason why practices are needed and to understand the impact that their actions have on the planet. Sustainable practices are embedded in the childrens daily routine and in their day-to-day activities, oat our centre these include:... Using recyclable materials where possible. Encouraging children to use half flush on the toilets, Encouraging children to turn the water off when they have washed their hands, Encouraging children to recycle paper and rubbish within their rooms, at home and when in the wider community, Talking with the children about electricity and encouraging them to turn off lights, Educating children in the natural decomposition cycle through exposure and participation in worm farms and composting food scraps, Educating children and having them participate in garden to plate activities i.e. seed sprouting, weeding, vegetable gardens, cooking amongst other activities, Educating children in how to care for pets and letting them actively participate in caring for the Centre pet, Educating children on caring for plants, and our waterways i.e. recycling water etc Last year in the Kinder room Iris Perry, and her family encouraged us to become more sustainable and included in this we would wear something green each Thursday. We have continued this tradition, and we will continue to have this tradition apart of the centre for years to come. We would love to see the children, families and community of Goodstart Stotts Lane involved. Please take the time to water, something green each Thursday, it can be as simple as a hair tie, socks, pants or even a green picture on a t-shirt. After many months of research on compost bins and Roz sending out many emails to multiple businesses Bunnings has kindly donated a compost bin which will assist in our aim to have a compost bin in each yard. Thank you Bunnings Frankston.

10.01.2022 Our engaging environments are set up to facilitate discovery and exploration through play and this is how we empower lifelong learners.

10.01.2022 Learning that giving is an important part of Christmas Last Friday our Kinder children went out into the neighbourhood with their teachers and hand delivered freshly baked Christmas cookies to our neighbours. The children very eagerly knocked on the doors and proudly gave out delicious cookies that they made earlier. So many people were pleasantly surprised by such a kind and generous gesture from our children at Goodstart Frankston South Stotts Lane. ... Well done Kinders

10.01.2022 Music definitely lifts the spirits. Our Kinder children have updated an old classic 'Head, shoulders, knees and toes' reflecting the signs of our times.

10.01.2022 The Great Outdoors How wonderful to feel the warmth of the sun & be enticed to adventure outdoors. Sadly some subconscious messages can unknowingly place restrictions on our children to play outside! ... Things such as - Set times to play outdoors. Closed doors & having to ask an adult if they can go & play now! Outdoors is regarded as a light relief to real learning Lets remove the restrictions & create portals to nature Our environment should be thought of holistically & not as two separate play spaces. Nature breeds curiosity; it helps to grow explorers rather than robots. It reminds us that we are part of something bigger. It grounds us, calms us. Ben Palmer-Fry

09.01.2022 Lets have some fun...go!

07.01.2022 In these uncertain times, to receive such news is simply heartbreaking and devastating. To lose four police officers who were simply doing their job is shocking news and utterly unbelievable. Four families lives have changed forever. Whilst the vast majority of us dont know these officers personally, they died in the line of duty upholding the law we abide by and that governs us. They lost their lives protecting us. May they Rest In Peace and their loved ones find some solace in the fact they died as heroes ... #victoriapolice #rip

06.01.2022 What to do on a rainy day at home? To keep you creative at home, why not make some simple play dough RECIPEE ... 8 Tbsp plain flour 2 Tbsp table salt 60ml warm water 1 Tbsp vegetable oil Why not try adding a bit of nature to your creation and you only have to go as far as your front or back garden. Encourage your child to collect different items of nature such as twigs, leaves, flowers, stones and seeds. Then let their imagination run free as they explore the dough in their own way. Some areas of learning this may support would include: fine motor skills imagination understanding of the world maths and literacy communication And so much more. ! ( you can choose to encourage some of these areas of learning through counting the objects you collect, finding items that begin with different letters of the alphabet and using language to talk and describing the textures, smells and looks of the different items collected )

01.01.2022 Clean Up Australia Day came early at Goodstart Frankston South Stotts Lane today. The children all did their part to keep their centre clean and tidy. They rolled up their sleeves and helped by eagerly looking for items to recycle. The children were quite competitive in their search for litter, but all did it with a smile on their face.
