24.01.2022 Here is a virtual tour of our toddler 2 room. This room is for children aged 2-3. We would love to meet you and show you around in person so if you are interested in our beautiful environments please give us a call on 03 97484700
23.01.2022 Settling in to childcare can be really overwhelming especially if you have never attended childcare before. But having a thorough enrollment and orientation process assists children to have a sense of security and belonging. Mikayla joined our centre this week and had an amazing first day building relationships with her peers and engaging in activities in her room.
23.01.2022 After parent input and reflecting on childrens interests we decided to implement risky play with the use of real hammers and nails. We spent yesterday discussing with children the importance of using these tools safely and a hands-on demonstration from the educators. A safer risk assessment form was completed and today children were ready to use these tools safely under close educator guidance/supervision. We used 2 of our decent sized logs from outside for the children to nail into. This activity gave children hands on experience on using real life tools as well as supporting hand eye coordination, concentration, turn taking, waiting, sharing, and following directions. We aim to continue supporting risky play in our programs.
21.01.2022 Just a friendly reminder that as of midnight tonight masks are mandatory.
21.01.2022 Dear families, As you know we are waiting on more detailed information from the State and Federal Governments about the impact of Stage 4 restrictions on our centre. We expect to know more tomorrow but in the meantime heres some information on our plans. What is likely to happen this week:... At this stage we plan to open as usual on Thursday and Friday for eligible children Once we have more information on who will be permitted to send their children to our centre we will be in touch but if you believe your family is likely to be a permitted worker your child can attend as normal Here are a few things we can be sure of: If your child is not permitted to attend for the next 6 weeks your gap fees will be waived and all direct debit arrangements paused It will be important to keep your childs booking with us during this time as it ensures we still receive Government funding so that we can pay wages and be ready to welcome your family when the restrictions are lifted We will apply for more absences for your child if you are concerned will exceed the current 42 days of CCS allowable absences From Monday 10th August (unless we are instructed by the government to do otherwise): We will be accepting children from permitted workers and those who need extra support at this time Our strict hygiene rules including temperature checks will continue and we will begin to implement foyer drop-off and pick-ups. Our centre team will offer remote learning for children who are not able to attend the centre with educator time being offered on-line and even more home learning resources being made available through Goodstart@Home Thanks again for your continuing support during this difficult and uncertain time. Please dont hesitate to call or email me with any questions or concerns.
21.01.2022 Such a beautiful gesture receiving these today from a local school. Shows that even through these difficult times the local community stand together.

18.01.2022 Our numeracy area is focusing on developing children basic understanding about numbers. Our kinder children have showed interest in recognising numbers on the sheet in front of them. We have extended this activity further by matching marked counters/dice to the number sheet in front of them. Children are enhancing their numeracy skills through number recognition, counting and patterns and also strengthening their concentration skills.
17.01.2022 Every year as a centre we come together at the Werribee dawn service and pay our respect. This year with COVID-19 things are very different and we have all had to pay our respects individually. Lest we forget

16.01.2022 Happy Easter to all our amazing families and educators. Hope you are all enjoying the beautiful long weekend. Stay safe and we will see you all on Tuesday.
16.01.2022 Here is another great book about COVID-19 to share with your children that may be curious and asking questions.
16.01.2022 Our kinder 1 children have expressed interest in learning about butterflies so to support their learning we have introduced "the very hungry caterpillar" book. Children will learn the life cycle of a butterfly, the days of the week, and numeracy skills as they count the number of fruits each week. this activity will also promote literacy skills as they learn every story has a beginning, middle and end and the different vocabularies that are included throughout the book. Following on from this all children in the room are going to create their own hungry caterpillar story.
15.01.2022 We are thinking of our Glendale family at these very difficult times. As its been quite sometime since we have been able to visit we miss them dearly. The children wanted to send some special heartfelt messages to let them know we are all thinking of them and hopefully brighten their day.

If so, don’t miss Starting Prep Together, a series of FREE online workshops from our friends @acdvic starting mid-October! Each workshop has three 60-minute online sessions which will connect you with other local parents whose children with disability are also starting Prep in 2021. Together, you’ll support each other as you share knowledge and learn how to build positive partnerships with your child’s scho...ol for the start of Prep and throughout the school years. You will also learn about: >> School processes and how to use them effectively - SSGs, IEPs, PSD >> Supporting your child with the transition to school >> Planning ahead once your child has started school An added bonus is that ACD’s workshop facilitators are all parents who’ve supported their own children with disability make the transition to school, so they know exactly how you’re feeling and what to expect. 15.01.2022 We think its safe to say that 2020 has been a year unlike any other. For the world, for Australia and for our Goodstart team. Over the past few months people, families and communities have been tried and tested in the most extraordinary ways. As frontline essential workers our Goodstarters rose to this challenge, stepping up to support our 60,000 families and 71,000 children through some incredibly challenging times. So weve declared this week Thank You Week! A week to ce...lebrate and recognise our 10,000+ Goodstarters for continuing to go above and beyond in face of adversity. We have a few special surprises planned for our Goodstarters this week, but in the meantime wed love for our Goodstart families to get involved too! Please share your messages of thanks and support below and tag an educator or a centre who has really made a difference. #ThankYouWeek #InThisTogether
15.01.2022 Our kinder children are showing interest in our mark marking area. They are trying to trace letters from stencils as well as write their own name in preparation for school. This area is set up constantly for children to engage in at all times based on their individual interests.
14.01.2022 One sleep to Early Childhood Educators Day! Whether it be taking flowers and plants to your centre tomorrow, or sending them a photo of a picture your child has drawn - lets all bring a little sunshine to some very special people

13.01.2022 A helpful poster that demonstrates what we are implementing each and every day to help minimise the spread of infectious diseases.
12.01.2022 Hi Goodstart families! As you know the Government announced today that the free childcare package will expire on 12 July and that the CCS system will return f...rom 13 July, along with new transition measures (up until October) to support the sector and parents as they move back to the subsidy. This announcement is a little bit complex so we are working hard to understand what this means for our families and for Goodstart. We will provide an update to our centres and our families later today and over the coming days as we learn more. #5weekstogo! See more
12.01.2022 Thank you to all of our amazing families that made our educators feel so appreciated today. Your heartfelt messages meant so much. You are our second family and we love being apart of your childs journey as they reach milestones and progress academically. Once again thank you all so much.
11.01.2022 Thank you so much to Akot from Busy Bee Events who made our beautiful Easter display. The children and families are absolutely loving it and we are so grateful for the amount of time and effort you put in. We are all looking forward to our celebrations today with a special visit from the Easter bunny.

10.01.2022 Unfortunately we will not be meeting at the park for the Anzac Day dawn service as this has beeen cancelled due to covid restrictions still in place. Our wreath that was ordered will be laid on our behalf without us in attendance.
10.01.2022 Our kinder children celebrated world bee day by making their very own beehive and bees. To complete this project we have a floor book displayed outside the room capturing childrens voices regarding what they know and what they learnt from this group project.
09.01.2022 Happy Mothers Day to all our beautiful mothers and all those listed below. It has been very different not been able to celebrate with each and every one of you this year. But we hope you have an amazing day with your families and get spoilt you all deserve it. We look forward to hearing about how you all spent your day.
09.01.2022 Our toddler children will be very excited to wake up and explore their new farm area. They have access to natural materials, books, animals and blocks to create barns etc.
09.01.2022 Seeing everyone now wearing masks can be quite overwhelming for children. Here is a great social story that outlines why children will see people with masks on and that underneath that mask we are still the same person so it is OK. We also have a couple of other social stories you may want to look at regarding wearing masks. https://paautism.org/resource/wearing-mask-social-story/... https://www.autism.org//uploads/2020/04/face-mask-social-s
08.01.2022 When new families join our centre they are asked to provide feedback on something we do well, anything that we may need to improve and any other comments to add. This is one of our most recent responses: What did the centre do well?... The staff are really friendly, helpful and flexible. The centre is managed really well. Sending my baby to day care this year was stressful for me but I feel confident that she is in good care. Do you have anything else to add? Thanks to all the staff for their good work particularly during this pandemic. I really appreciate the service you are providing for my family:)
08.01.2022 We were devastated when we heard that lock down had extended and a lot of our families were still not able to access childcare. We are counting down the days until the 28th of September to be able to welcome you all back. We have missed each and every one of you. Take care, reach out if needed, and hopefully see you in 13 days.
08.01.2022 On Wednesday 2 September its Early Childhood Educators Day! This is a wonderful opportunity for us to recognise and celebrate the amazing team we have here at Goodstart Barber Drive. This has been a big year for everyone at our centre and we were hoping you would join us in celebrating this in a special way this year. Early Childhood Educators Day happens to coincide with the start of spring and what better way to show our appreciation than saying it with FLOWERS! Wed love ...to fill the centre with some springtime joy and ask if you could possibly bring some greenery or flowers in on the day, for our centre or for the educators in your childs room. It doesnt matter whether they are from a shop, from your garden or from the side of the road they will surely put a smile on the faces of our educators! Maybe your little one would even like to create a card and draw flowers or a portrait of your favourite educator? Let your creativity run wild! Thank you so much for your support, we are looking forward to brightening up the day together with you! Janelle See more
07.01.2022 As most of you would have heard this afternoon as of tonight we move into stage 4 restrictions. We are still very unsure what this means for the Centre. But as we learn more we will make sure we update each and everyone of you.
07.01.2022 Dear families, As you know the Victoria Government announced today that they are re-instating restrictions in some areas across Victoria in light of the evolving COVID-19 situation. There are no new restrictions on early learning and care and we remain open and here to support you as we navigate through the next few weeks together.... Throughout COVID we have had the strictest health and hygiene measures in place and this will continue. Our national health and safety team have been closely monitoring the situation in Victoria and in response to the changing health risks, implemented further health, safety and hygiene restrictions across all our Victorian centres last week. The ongoing health, safety and wellbeing of everyone in our centre remains our first priority and we are committed to providing the best possible learning experiences in the safest possible environment for all children in our care. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the centre.
06.01.2022 Our Kinder educators have been implementing the behaviour support kit for quite some time now. Each kinder child that is heading off to school next year will receive thier own indiviudal pack for at home. Our kinder teacher Charu is really passionate about the behaviour support kit and has put together a short video explaining how purposeful these resrouces are and how we are currenlty implementing them wihtin our rooms. We have found these resources so valuable, with children responding really well. We hope you enjoy the video and begin to see the benefits of the toolkit in your homes as well.

03.01.2022 Today we have celebrated R U OK day. We wore the colour yellow and made sure we checked in with each other by simply asking R U OK? Children were involved in activities recognising what makes them feel ok, and what makes them feel a little sad. Children were also acknowledged with certificates for their contribution in their rooms. We are all going through some difficult times, and its more important now than ever to stop and ask R U OK? It shouldnt stop here, not everyone ...is going to be ok. The main thing we want everyone to know is that you are not alone. If you or someone you know needs support please reach out or if you are looking for more targeted support please find some numbers that may help below: Beyond Blue 1300 224 636 Lifeline 131144 Life Works for all Goodstarters and their families 1300 361 008 Stay safe and take care.

02.01.2022 Every year as a centre we come together to raise funds for the Royal Children's Hospital. Most of us have either been directly involved, or know someone who has been directly involved with the hospital, so it is a cause that means a lot to all. Families and educators donated items to create 4 amazing raffle prizes. We sold raffle tickets for $1 a ticket with all proceeds going straight to the good Friday appeal. We are so proud that as a a centre we can announce we raised $1179.05. Thank you to each and every one of you that donated or brought a ticket.
02.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day to all the dads and the special people in our lives taking on this role.
01.01.2022 Amongst all the chaos of the Coronavirus we were still able to celebrate Easter with a special visit from the Easter bunny. We made sure we did this in smaller groups to abide by social distancing rules.
