22.01.2022 Celebrating National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Childrens Day at Goodstart Hughesdale
22.01.2022 What a fantastic initiative! It is so important that childrens voices are captured as part of this pandemic and for historical records. As a result of this momentous time in history, Australia Post believes it is important to record the thoughts of those experiencing significant change. To support the recording of this thinking, Australia Post has created a national letterbox where, from now until 18 August, anyone participating can write a letter to share their experience ...of the COVID-19 pandemic. The letters will then be curated by the National Archives, with eligible letters being kept for future generations, allowing all Australians to record their impressions of this remarkable time. #australiapost #dearaustralia #letterwriting #covid19 #coronavirus https://www.facebook.com/547116265677040/posts/1439989403056384/?d=n
21.01.2022 Dear Families, Tomorrow, Wednesday 2 September its Early Childhood Educators Day! This is a wonderful opportunity for us to recognise and celebrate the amazing team we have here at Goodstart Hughesdale. ... This has been a big year for everyone at our centre and we were hoping you would join us in celebrating this in a special way this year. Early Childhood Educators Day happens to coincide with the start of spring and what better way to show our appreciation than saying it with FLOWERS! Wed love to fill the centre with some springtime joy and ask our families to help us by bringing in some greenery or flowers in on the day or during the week, for our centre or for the educators in your childs room. These could be from a shop, your garden or from the side of the road found on your walk they will surely put a smile on the faces of our educators! Maybe your little one would even like to create a card and draw flowers or a portrait of your favourite educator? Let your creativity run wild! Thank you so much for your support, we are looking forward to brightening up the day together with you!

18.01.2022 Child - "How old are you, Grandpa?" Grandpa - "Im 81, dear." Child - "So does that mean you were alive during the Coronavirus?" Grandpa - "Yes, I was." Child - "Wow. That must have been horrible, Grandpa. We were learning about that at school this week.... They told us about how all the schools had closed. And mums and dads couldnt go to work so didnt have as much money to do nice things. They said that you werent allowed to go and visit your friends and family and couldnt go out anywhere. They told us that the shops ran out of lots of things so you didnt have much bread, and flour, and toilet rolls. They said that Easter holidays were cancelled. And they told us about all those thousands of people that got very sick and who died. They explained how hard all the doctors and nurses and all essential workers worked, and that lots of them died, too. That must have been so horrible, grandpa!" Grandpa - "Yes, that is all correct, but I was just a kid back then. But to tell you the truth I remember it differently... I remember playing in the garden for hours with mum and dad and having picnics outside and lots of bbqs. I remember making things with my Dad and baking with my Mum. I remember learning how to do hand stands and back flips. I remember having quality time with my family, even when they were being my teachers. I remember Mums favorite words becoming Hey, Ive got an idea... Rather than Maybe later or tomorrow Im a bit busy. I remember making our own bread and pastry, growing our own vegies and having fresh eggs from our new chooks. I remember having movie night three or four times a week instead of just one. I remember we got to put our Christmas lights up in the middle of the year, just because we wanted to. It was a horrible time for lots of people you are right. But I remember it differently." Remember how our children will remember these times. Be in control of the memories they are creating right now, so that despite all the awful headlines and emotional stories they will come to read in their future years, they can only actually remember the happy times!!!

14.01.2022 Some good news from the Victorian Government today. Providers are now able to waive gap fees if your child is absent from their centre for COVID-related reasons (in Stage 3 lockdown areas only). Essentially this means that you can secure your spot while lockdown restrictions are in place without having any out-of-pocket costs if your child is kept at home https://ministers.dese.gov.au//statement-fee-relief-victor
14.01.2022 Parenting during lockdown is tough! WEDNESDAY 19th AUGUST, 8pm is a free webinar follow this link to register. https://www.happyfamilies.com.au//lightening-the-lockdown/
13.01.2022 Hi Families, After Dan Andrews press conference today, Im sure you were all left a little bewildered in regards to what stage 4 restrictions equate too. Hopefully I can provide you with a little bit of an insight, whilst we await the Federal Governments announcement. Goodstart Early Learning Hughesdale will remain OPEN, for (on-site work) Covid Safe Plan in place, but will have restrictions as per the following statement provided by the Victorian Premier.... The Early Childhood Education and Care (including Sessional Kindergarten, Long day care, which is us, family day care and Outside School Hours Care). Restricted to permitted workers and vulnerable children (eg those in/out of home care or known to child protection, medically/socially vulnerable children, Koori children) I have not been made aware of what permitted workers look like, and will absolutely provide this information to each and every one of you as soon as it becomes available to me. Please continue to bring your children on their enrolled days, until otherwise informed. Hughesdale Team xx

11.01.2022 Kinder children and their teachers have started a new project " First People in Australia." We have learned that Aboriginal people were the first people in Australia. The children traced own bodies on the paper to create Aboriginal imaginary friends, and decorated them with body painting. The children learned to use Aboriginal Art symbols to create meaning and write messages. We gave our imaginary friends names in Wiradjuri language. We placed our new friends on a prominent spot and wrote "We are the first people in Australia. We came to Australia 40 thousand years ago. Welcome to our country."
11.01.2022 Fun outside in the sun with the large parachute.
11.01.2022 This week our center is joining Cultural Diversity Week, celebrated in Victoria. Here at Goodstart Hughesdale we promote a rich diversity of cultures of our families and educators. Centre educators are sharing their diverse stories and culture with the children through dicussions, stories, dances, songs and traditional food preparation. Today Kindergarten Teacher, Luda, introduced Rusiian cultural traditions. Together with the kinder children we learned to sing and dance "Kalinka" and "Troika", played with Matreshka (Russian nested doll), cooked Vinaigrette and tried it for lunch.

09.01.2022 We think its safe to say that 2020 has been a year unlike any other. For the world, for Australia and for our Goodstart team. Over the past few months people, families and communities have been tried and tested in the most extraordinary ways. As frontline essential workers our Goodstarters rose to this challenge, stepping up to support our 60,000 families and 71,000 children through some incredibly challenging times. So weve declared this week Thank You Week! A week to ce...lebrate and recognise our 10,000+ Goodstarters for continuing to go above and beyond in face of adversity. We have a few special surprises planned for our Goodstarters this week, but in the meantime wed love for our Goodstart families to get involved too! Please share your messages of thanks and support below and tag an educator or a centre who has really made a difference. #ThankYouWeek #InThisTogether

07.01.2022 Goodstart Hughesdale Kinder Christmas Gruffalo Play Congratulations to Hughesdale kinder children who presented Christmas Play Gruffalo." It was a culmination of our kindergarten year. The year with two lockdowns, online teaching and learning. The year when we moved from working in the pods to stay safe and to stay open to new Covid -19 protocol when we could invite families to important events. We developed Covid-19 Safer Risk Assessment Plan. Only one member of the fam...ily could atrend, masks, hand sanitizer and chairs placed in a social distance - all that were important measures we folloeed. The children took parts of different characters, Foxes, Owls, Snakes and met a Mouse along and together with Gruffalo . All families came to share and acknowledge our children's brilliant performance. We prepared two presentations so all children had a part and an opportunity to shine, experience success and joy. Having a certain capacity of the room which could fit a half of parents a time was anothet important reason to do two presentations. We all are over the moon with a terrific experience which supported children' s agency, confidence, promoted literacy and strenthened our trust relationships with center families. See more
