23.01.2022 * National Pyjama day 17th July 2020* This July Goodstart Kalamunda is doing a fundraiser for the pyjama foundation. National Pyjama Day is all about wearing your favorite PJs to help The Pyjama Foundation raise much-needed awareness and funds for children in foster care. Currently, in Australia, there are more than 48,000 children in the foster care system. Of this number, more than 75 per cent wont finish high school and 92 per cent sit below the average reading level. ... The Pyjama Foundations Love of Learning program is working to change these statistics, supporting children with their own learning mentor, allowing them to reach their full potential. Each volunteer costs The Pyjama Foundation upwards of $500 in order to recruit, screen, train and support them throughout their role as a learning mentor. The Pyjama Foundation currently raises 83 per cent of its total funding in order to support children who need them the most. This year hosts particular challenges for fundraising but we are committed to supporting as many kids as possible in these uncertain times, so every bit counts! As you know the Government announced today that the free childcare package will expire on 12 July and that the CCS system will return f...rom 13 July, along with new transition measures (up until October) to support the sector and parents as they move back to the subsidy. This announcement is a little bit complex so we are working hard to understand what this means for our families and for Goodstart. 13.01.2022 COVID UPDATE 27th-30th April Due to government guidance we do have some restrictions in place this week at the centre:- Masks to please be worn at the centre, by anyone 12 years or older as per government guidelines.... Sanitise hands on arrival, this is available at the entrance and in the foyer area. Only 1 parent allowed in Foyer or room at a time for no more than 10min. Sign your child in as normal Only 1 parent to drop of and pick up child at any one time. 1.5m social distance from each other. No Visitors to enter the centre We will continue with 2 hourly touch point cleaning. If your child is unwell, please contact the centre, before bringing them in. We will also be sending children home if they are unwell, while at the centre. See more

11.01.2022 We had a lovely suprise for the centre last week, when Vin from Govinda's Hare Krishna Restaurant came to the centre asking if he could give back to our educators who worked as an essential service over the height of covid. On Monday Vin and DJ prepared and delivered a large variety of food for our hard working educators at Goodstart Early Learning Kalamunda. Our educators enjoyed the selection of foods we were given and it was such a suprise to receive such great community appreciation. Thank you again to Vin and DJ at Govinda's Hare Krishna Restaurant.

03.01.2022 Today has been a very sad day, having two of our wonderful educators finishing up with us at Goodstart Kalamunda. We are very sad to see Natasha leave from our 3 yr old Kindy room to start her new dream job as a Pharmacy Tech whilst also studying her Batchelor of Nursing. We are also saying goodbye to Deria a wonderful qualified cover who is excitingly waiting for the arrival of her first child. We wish you both, all of the best from our team, families and children.

03.01.2022 What a great way to make memories with the kids during the Easter long weekend and school holidays. Who is going to do this in your backyard?

02.01.2022 Dear families You may have heard news over the weekend that the Australian Government have introduced stronger rules around self-isolation requirements for people who are travelling. Due to this, our exclusion periods for children and staff has now changed. From today anyone who has travelled back to Australia since Friday 13 March needs to be excluded for 14 days.... If you have returned to Australia since Friday, you will need to self-isolate for 14 days. Please remember that if you are affected by an exclusion period your child must stay away even if they are not sick. This is a Department of Health requirement. We know there is a lot of uncertainty out there and many of you are feeling anxious. Please be assured that Goodstart is well prepared and has been planning for a situation like this since the beginning of the year. The health and safety of everyone in our Goodstart family continues to be our top priority. We know you have a lot of questions and we are doing our best to provide answers to you all. We will send out a more detailed email this week which will address some of the most pressing issues facing our families. This will include questions around fees, what happens if there is a case at your childs centre, our cleaning practices and exclusion of unwell children and staff.
