In her time away from the centre she loves gardening in her beautiful garden, spending time with her family and friends and reading Australian based fiction novels. ... Jo chose to work in the early education industry as she has a passion for helping the next generation succeed.

21.01.2022 Welcome to our Nursery! We are blessed to have a 16 place Nursery that boasts its own yard and separate sleep room. These are two of many features we are lucky to have here at Goodstart Kangaroo Flat. Although having our own safe, quiet sleeping space and baby friendly yard is an incredible bonus to our Nursery, we are most proud of our incredible Educators and what they bring to this special space. Our Nursery room is run by Kate, a Diploma Qualified Educator with many yea...rs of experience in the Early Years sector. She is dedicated to building strong relationships with families and connections with children. Kate is a firm believer in giving children a voice in her room, as she puts it; just because they don’t have a [literal] voice, doesn’t mean they arent saying something. This is reflected heavily through the Nursery space where you can see the Educators have followed the child’s lead in setting up their engaging learning spaces and care areas. Thea and Jane support Kate in this room and they are both a driving force, their care and commitment to the children and families in this room is unmatched. Thea believes in taking the time to listen to the children and follow their lead. Each child is an individual and they deserve to have their individual needs met each and every day. Thea is an advocate for sign language being taught to children and utilises this in daily routines. Jane has built incredibly close relationships with families and believes in ensuring a smooth transition by sticking to at-home routines as much as possible. Jane wants to make sure that Early Learning and home life work in collaboration with one another so that both the children and the families feel safe, secure, and respected. We are so privileged to have such an incredible Nursery and a dedicated team that has ensured that this space is so special, warm, and engaging. If you would like to come and check us out we are located at 17A Church Street, Kangaroo Flat. We would love to make your family an addition to ours. See more

20.01.2022 We just want to say a huge thank you to Saint Monica's Primary School, Kangaroo Flat for the generous donation of Art supplies today!

20.01.2022 Our Wurrak (Toddler) room has been working on some new spaces this month, and the children are loving them! Stemming from the children’s interest in cars they have created a two new car to role play spaces. Dramatic play is a major way in which children learn their oral language and build upon their interactions with their peers. By providing children with access to these spaces that are based on their interests, the Educators are giving the children the opportunity to boost ...their vocabulary and pronunciation of new words whilst also opening them up to learn parallel play with their peers. As well as these car-based areas, the children have also been accessing the latch board which was created by one of our Educators. The latch board is incredible for developing the children’s hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. These early skills and strengthening of fine muscles will set the children up for future success as they learn and grow, moving towards three year old kindergarten. Feel free to stop by and check out our Centre and all the amazing things our passionate Educators are creating for the children! See more

19.01.2022 This year our amazing cook Kate is celebrating her ten years of service to Goodstart Early Learning! In celebration of this we interviewed Kate to learn a little bit more about her journey in Early Childhood. When Kate was sixteen she had two passions; cooking and children. She was given the opportunity to choose between a chef’s apprenticeship and a childcare qualification. Lucky for us she chose childcare! In 2010 Kate was looking for permanent work in the industry and, af...ter doing some casual work on the floor, was offered the position of cook at Goodstart Kangaroo Flat a dream come true for Kate, being able to combine her two passions! It is obvious by Kate’s nutritious and innovative menu that she is passionate about what she does. Kate has spent many years honing her skills and through trial and error, and feedback from her littlest critics she has created several delicious seasonal menus. She is constantly striving to be the best cook in Bendigo and we think she is there! Kate adores her kitchen with its big open windows and bright and airy feeling. She loves to interact with the children building bonds and relationships with them all. Congratulations Kate, we love and appreciate everything you do! See more

07.01.2022 Thank you to all who took part in World CP day! I hope the information we shared helped you understand a little more about CP, but also help shed some light int...o Rosie’s situation! As you may see a little clearer now, each hurdle each challenge is different but when you see a picture of Rose in the future we hope that what we have shared and the insight into Roses situation will only give you more excitement and a bigger buzz when she hits a milestone, or make you want to give her a bigger hug when you know she’s having a tough day and why she’s having a tough day! Lastly to the team at Goodstart Kflat thank you for putting a wonderful day together to help create more awareness around CP, I know Rose cherishes every moment that she has there and while she may not have wanted her hand painter purple, her friends I’m sure loved making this!
