18.01.2022 Bringing the inside, outside. Today's painting in the garden was accompanied by some lovely piano music. Our little ones enjoyed exploring the garden and using their sense to connect with the flowers .

14.01.2022 Real life exploration and investigation on a fish Today a few of Pre Kindy friends got to scale a fish, a follow up from fishing with a hand reel. They took turns to scale the fish, using gloves and following a demonstration by Miss Jill first before having a go themselves. ... Miss Jill asked the children to touch the fishes eye and tell her what they thought it felt like to them. A few response:- " Its feels like a banana smoothie" " It feels like jelly" " It feels squishy".

05.01.2022 It all started with a book about Warnayarran the Rainbow snake. After reading the book, a discussion was held with the Pre Kindy Children about how could we make our own rainbow snake ? *Children's voices: "We need the colours of the Rainbow" "Paper and scissors" "Do you know we had a snake at our house, and he was in the tree" . So we made a Big rainbow snake using cardboard and water colours. Then using the colours that represent the Torres Strait Islander flag and the Ind...igenous Flag were using in a fingerprint painting format for individual snakes that are displayed in the foyer and in the Pre Kindy Room. Reconciliation week- we used individual handprints and flick brush painting to decorate our handprints also using the colours of the Torres Strait Islander flag and the Indigenous Flag. 04.01.2022 *Local Community Heroes* Thanks so much to Rod From the local SES and his helper for coming in and teaching our Kindy children about what they do in our community. *Rod showed the children a picture of him and the volunteer SES people cutting down a big tree that was in the middle of the road. Also a picture of them putting sandbags around houses where it had flooded to help stop more water going inside the house.... *SES, this qservice deals with floods, storms and tsunamis, but can also assist in other emergencies, such as vertical and road crash rescues, missing persons searches, and medical evacuations. In other scenarios the SES may provide a support role to other agencies, particularly police and fire. *132500 is the number to call if you need the assistance of the State Emergency Service in non-life threatening emergency situations during floods and services.
