21.01.2022 Today, 2nd of September it’s Early Childhood Educators Day! This is a wonderful opportunity for us to recognise and celebrate the amazing team we have here at Goodstart Menai. This has been a big year for everyone at our centre and we were hoping you would join us in celebrating this in a special way this year.... Early Childhood Educators Day happens to coincide with the start of spring and what better way to show our appreciation than saying it with FLOWERS! Leave your flowers in the comments for the educators in our centre. It doesn’t matter they are virtual flowers they will surely put a smile on the faces of our educators! We are looking forward to brightening up the day together with you! #everydayheroes

20.01.2022 At Goodstart safety is not just what we do, it’s who we are. During these uncertain times we need to work together to keep our centre, families, children and educators COVID-safe. From today all parents and adult visitors are required to wear a mask while in our centre, as well as sanitising hands on arrival.... We also need to do our bit to minimise the number of adults in our centres at any one time so have asked that only one parent be present for drop-off and pick ups and to keep the visit to less than 15 mins. Thanks for your understanding and ongoing support we’ve got this NSW!

12.01.2022 Belonging doesn’t require us to change who we are; it requires us to BE who we are - Brené Brown Creating a sense of belonging is important to all of our rooms at Goodstart Menai. The Toddlers educators have created belonging blocks for the children to explore however they wish. Seeing their faces gives the children a feeling of being recognised and respected for who they are as well as celebrating their differences.

08.01.2022 Primary caregiving and Goodstart’s Key Educator Relationship approach go hand in hand when it comes to care. Goodstart Menai strongly believes in the power of a relationship with one special key educator. The key educator is responsible for communication with their child’s family, for changing their key child’s nappy, for wiping their tears away, for being their key child’s source of fun and to extend on their key child’s development with tailor made experiences. Through all... of those actions and many more, a deep connection is created. This key educator acts as a secure base for the children to leave from to explore the environment. The key educator relationship is secure and predictable enough that the children know their key educator will always be there to welcome them with open arms if they need their support again. The more comfortable a child is in their relationships, the bigger their circle becomes. The period between leaving their secure base and returning back to their safe haven becomes longer. The key educator relationship is theoretically proven to help children get the most benefit from their environment which is what every educator dreams of when children are in our care. 04.01.2022 Life has its ups and downs - Illness can rob us of confidence and energy; - Work - or lack of work - can make us feel frazzled or inadequate; - Falling short of our goals can make us feel hopeless;... - The death of a loved one can lead to complex feelings of grief and loss; - Relationship breakdowns can leave us confused, sad or angry. It’s important you look out for changes and signs, no matter how small that could indicate someone needs extra support and if you spot the signs you need to ask R U OK?

03.01.2022 Extending upon the children’s interest in exploring living things (such as moths and birds) within their environment, we have introduced a ‘Hungry Little Caterpillar’ interest area within our nursery, inclusive of the all time favourite book and a variety of props. Miss Fiona has also utilized the opportunity of lunchtime when our little hungry caterpillars are eager to hear all about the food journey explored in this wonderful shared reading.
