14.01.2022 The flexibility and value of the loose parts became more evident today as we incorporated some of these materials into a science experiment. The children chose an item from the basket and together with their peers debated whether they felt the item was going to sink or float. Prior to the experiment, we talked about the words sink and float and what they meant. Armas made the connection to a "rubber ducky" that doesn't go down" when talking about floating, and Osher explained that when something sinks, "it goes right down". This was a simple experiment that led to lots of questioning and hypothesising, essential elements of a scientific mind. #prekindergarten #scienceweek #learningthroughplay #looseparts #mounttamborine #kindykids
