11.01.2022 Dear families You may have heard news over the weekend that the Australian Government have introduced stronger rules around self-isolation requirements for people who are travelling. Due to this, our exclusion periods for children and staff has now changed. From today anyone who has travelled back to Australia since Friday 13 March needs to be excluded for 14 days.... If you have returned to Australia since Friday, you will need to self-isolate for 14 days. Please remember that if you are affected by an exclusion period your child must stay away even if they are not sick. This is a Department of Health requirement. We know there is a lot of uncertainty out there and many of you are feeling anxious. Please be assured that Goodstart is well prepared and has been planning for a situation like this since the beginning of the year. The health and safety of everyone in our Goodstart family continues to be our top priority. We know you have a lot of questions and we are doing our best to provide answers to you all. We will send out a more detailed email this week which will address some of the most pressing issues facing our families. This will include questions around fees, what happens if there is a case at your child’s centre, our cleaning practices and exclusion of unwell children and staff. We will keep you updated as this situation evolves, however if you have any specific concerns please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. Kind regards Ivanka Saric Centre Director

09.01.2022 Dear Families Just a note to assure you that our centre is open and will continue to operate normally. There has been some confusion as a result of the Western Australian Government’s decision encouraging families to keep children at home from Monday 30 March and to close school’s one week early making Friday 3 April the last day of term. Kindergarten classes being offered in our long day care centres will continue as normal next week.... Guided by the very best advice from infectious disease control experts, Goodstart is taking extra precautions around safety and hygiene at this time including: Our centres are cleaned daily (and touch points like door handles and IPADs very frequently) with the best suited cleaning products and in the right way Our centres have very well practised infection control procedures and our teams have the training to ensure good hygiene is occurring on our watch We are strictly enforcing rigorous exclusion policies for children and Goodstarters in all our centres in line with advice from the public health authorities, with whom we are in frequent contact We’ve banned all, but essential visitors and we’ve put a stop to excursions, and enforcing social distancing by adults in line with Government guidelines As a not-for-profit organisation our purpose is to provide the support all children. In this crisis we are determined to find innovative ways to support families. We have launched an online initiative called Goodstart@Home which provides high quality learning at home resources free of charge for children of families who are currently in isolation, those who have had to cut back on days or temporarily leave our Goodstart family. https://www.goodstart.org.au/goodstart-at-home/subscribe Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or require some assistance. kind regards Ivanka

03.01.2022 Dear Families, Harmony Week takes place Monday 16th March - Friday 20th March. To celebrate the different cultures in our centre, we invite all children to come dressed in their traditional clothing. To help raise funds for Telethon please place a gold coin in the Telethon jar sitting near the kiosk. ... For $1.00, we also have our "guess how many jellybeans are in the jar". Please write your name and child's name under a number on the provided sheet. Place your $1.00 in the Telethon container near the kiosk. Winner takes the jar of Jellybeans. We are really looking forward to seeing the children in traditional clothing and good luck with guessing the correct number of jellybeans. Thanks Sonya
