21.01.2022 What a busy day we have had! This morning we participated in an off site evacuation with our whole centre. All children and staff moved quickly to the car park and evacuated safely. It’s great to practice these drills, this equips us with the skills in the event we ever have to evacuate in case of an emergency.

13.01.2022 Yesterday was Indigenous Literacy Day. The kindergarten class enjoyed celebrating Indigenous language, literacy, culture, songs and stories. We read Finding our heart, a beautiful story that explores finding the heart of our country, in Uluru. It was a really nice way to celebrate the longest living culture in the world Following the story, the children extended on their learning by engaging in a cutting experience and exploring the Uluru small world. Our hearts are displayed in the literacy area- make sure you check them out.

13.01.2022 Today our Children and Educators participated a mock fire drill. We were lucky enough to have 4 firefighters from The Burpengary fire station observe our drill. All of the Children and Educators evacuated smoothly. This training exercise was a wonderful learning experience and instills an awareness of what to do in the event of a real fire . Emergency and evacuation procedures are required under regulations 97 and 168 of the Education and Care Services National Regulations.

We spread out across the table but we were still able to chat and share stories while we created. We hope everyone has a safe and happy Easter.

10.01.2022 Earlier this week it was World Ocean Day. The kindy children spent time exploring the effects of ocean pollution, we discussed how the litter makes the ocean look aesthetically and how it is harmful for the sea life. We then practiced our fine motor skills, using tweezers to transfer the litter from the ocean to the plates. While engaging in this experience, the kindy children explored respect for the environment while also problem solving, investigating and reflecting on their learning.

07.01.2022 Pre Kindy explored magic today from one of our children’s spontaneous learning moments. Our little friend showed the trick to Miss Nikki and asked her to do it again and again. Soon, our friends were using this in their play throughout the rest of the morning. #WhatisPreKdoing?

06.01.2022 We love watching the children’s drawings evolve as they become more confident managing their fine motor control. Free style drawing allows the children to be imaginative and creative, while also giving them a platform to explore and expand language as they narrate their creations. Our budding Kindy artist was excited to share his jelly fish fighting a TRex with black hair.

03.01.2022 The kindy children were very excited to create a marble run today. They demonstrated problem solving and investigative and reflective practices when they worked together to create a marble run with loose parts. We practiced sharing and turn taking as we lined up and had turns of rolling the marbles down. We also explored counting in the play setting, as we counted each marble hitting the foil tray. We miss our kindy friends that are staying at home at the moment- we would love to see if you could make a marble run at your house and share a video with us? The kindy group would love to connect with their friends at home.

03.01.2022 Recently the Kindergarten children have been discussing occupations. One of our friends shared that she would like to be a Dentist when she grows up. This promoted a discussion about dental hygiene. All of the children were excited to share that they brush their teeth twice a day to keep them healthy. Today we practiced brushing our teeth, using the model teeth and toothbrushes. We practiced using circular motions to protect our gums. We removed all of the food and germs to ...ensure our teeth stay strong and healthy. Links to QKLG Wellbeing- 3.2 Exploring ways to be healthy and safe
