22.01.2022 At Goodstart Nightcliff we have been focusing on enriching children's literacy through our everyday activities. Our educators have been brainstorming different ideas and ways to be able to provide children with a literacy rich environment. Literacy is important as it incorporates different ways of communicating, through music and movement, story telling, visual arts and different texts. This promotes children's oral language development, print awareness, phonological awareness and alphabetic principle. Everyday we provide a 'Literacy Snapshot' to our families on Storypark to make it easier for them to locate and read about what the children have done that day to promote their literacy skills.

19.01.2022 What is National Reconciliation Week? National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. The dates for NRW remain the same each year - 27 May to 3 June. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively. ...Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We invite you to join in the learning about National Reconciliation Week at home through Goodstart@Home which is free for Goodstart families. Listen and learn from the stories and activities on the site. Take a moment to explore how you can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia: athome.goodstart.org.au

10.01.2022 Yesterday the whole centre participated in a fire drill. Once the educators and children heard the whistle being blown and alerting us of where the 'fire' was. Well be creating a special thank you wall in the centre where we can all share messages of love, support and thanks! In the foyer you will find little blank thank you notes where you can say thanks and shout out an educator who really made a difference. 05.01.2022 The year before school is so important for young children. It’s where they learn the skills to develop the confidence they need to make a smooth transition to school. At Goodstart the Preschool program is evidence based and is specifically designed for children aged 3-5 years. The curriculum is based on the Early Years Learning Framework, which is delivered by degree-qualified Early Childhood Teachers. This program nurtures children’s collaboration, communication, creativity ...and critical thinking skills. Our approach gives your child the full benefits of a daily learning program while you are supported with the longer care hours we provide. That means your child gets the best start to their schooling, while you juggle the day-to-day demands of life. Find out more at: https://www.goodstart.org.au/preschools
