25.01.2022 Our kindergarten children have been waiting ever so patiently to see the leaves on the trees in our backyard change colour! As a group we grabbed our clipboards, went out into our garden, and noticed & observed any changes we could see. We then collected some and brought them to a table to examine even closer. The children then drew their own interpretation of the leaves. Throughout this activities and the discussions we held, the children are learning about environmental science, developing respect for the natural environment, and developing a connection to their wold. #autumn #learning #kindergarten @ Goodstart Early Learning Numurkah

23.01.2022 We would like to say a huge THANK YOU to the Moira Shire Council for the generous donation of our new crepe myrtle tree! We cant wait to see it grow, and to bring some beautiful natural colour to our playground. A special thank you to Rick for organising the donation, and to Dave for replanting our apple tree and teaching the children how to water it, planing our new tree, and safely building the wire fencing around the new tree (even in the rain)!

23.01.2022 We understand the importance of acknowledging the traditional owners of the land on which we come together to play and learn. Here our kindergarten children are sharing a little snippet of their daily acknowledgement of country ritual during their morning meet. Their morning meet is where they come together as a group (which supports their sense of belonging & community - connectedness to each other), acknowledge the Bangerang people of the Yorta Yorta nation & thank them for sharing their land through a few interactive songs, followed by a breathing exercise to prepare for the day.

22.01.2022 We are currently seeking casual educators to join our team at goodstart Numurkah. If you are passionate, motivated and love working with children we would love to hear from you. https://career10.successfactors.com/sfcareer/jobreqcareer

22.01.2022 Look at the differences between a typical younger child’s hand (left) and a typical older child's hand (right). I have parents asking regularly why their presch...ool aged child isn’t able to write yet. This is why! Their hands (and brains) are still developing and are not fully formed. So what should they be doing to support this? PLAY!! Playdough, colouring, cutting, gluing, playing outside, digging in dirt, sensory play, dress up play, science experiments, beading, puzzles, throwing balls, etc. All of these things help their hands develop. When they are physically ready to write, they will! No need to rush them, they will show you when they are ready! See more

10.01.2022 S T O R Y T E L L I N G Our kindergarten class has been learning all about storytelling recently. They have observed their teachers telling visual stories using the Steiner approach to storytelling, and have now adapted this into their play. The children work together to design wonderful story settings using a range of natural and loose parts. The children are then given the opportunity to tell their own stories, further developing their creative thinking skills and imagi...nation. Storytelling also helps children to role play social scenarios, problem solve, understand their own feelings, enhances oral language, and boosts their confidence! You can try this at home with your child by using some props and loose parts around your home and retelling a favourite story with your child! You dont need the exact characters - a stone could be a horse when imagination is at play! #storytelling #kindergarten #goodstartmoments See more

10.01.2022 Science and Mathematics can be learned in a wide variety of ways, and can be learned by young children through play! We use a range of scientific and mathematics concepts in our every day lives, and so do young children! Here two of our kinder children are exploring a range of mathematical and scientific concepts just through playing with our wooden Grimms rainbow. Some of the concepts the children explored include:... - sorting - physical science (gravity, how things move) - geometry (spatial thinking, direction & location) - trial and error - shape and size They also used other mathematical processes such as problem-solving, questioning (which comes next?), and reflecting (why didnt it work last time? What can we change?) So much learning all while playing and having fun!
