25.01.2022 Yesterday was International Mud Day. The children explored using their sences, role played and played collaborativley all while having fun in the MUD

22.01.2022 On Friday in our Toddler 1 room they experimented with imagination and construction. We set up some wooden stumps and dinosaurs! Sharron and Lauren observed the children build towers with the blocks and then adding their dinosaurs on top. Some of the children used their imagination by using the dinosaurs and walking through the blocks, roaring as they went. While engaging in these experiences the children are learning to manipulate resources to investigate, take apart, assemble, invent and construct. They are also exploring their ideas and theories using imagination, creativity and play.

22.01.2022 Some beautiful recent family feedback we received . When my child first started at Goodstart we had come out of a hard and traumatic family situation & Goodstart was the third Childcare Centre they attended within 6 months. My child was really struggling and had terrible separation anxiety. Being assigned a Key Educator, I found that they were able to form a bond quickly to help settle them in. Tiki has been amazing & my child talks of her often at home which is so nice! Tik...i & all the educators have been so caring, nurturing & compassionate. Kristy, the Centre Director has been absolutely wonderful, she is professional but so friendly & lovely to talk to. She always does her upmost to help in any way she can & always goes above & beyond. For the first time ever at drop off my child will often happily trot away, and instances of them crying or not wanting to go has become increasingly infrequent. It is testament to the fantastic care they receive. It is such peace of mind to know they are being well cared for, it means the world to me! See more

21.01.2022 During these uncertain times, simple gestures and acts of kindness can be a good place to start, especially when it comes to supporting children. The team at T...ogether4Kids have developed Unbelievably Simple Tips for Being a Great Parent which show the 9 minutes during the day that have the greatest impact on a child: The first 3 minutes after they wake up The 3 minutes when they come home from school or you have lunch together, and The last 3 minutes of the day before they go to bed. Sound too simple? Try it for yourself! https://www.rasa.org.au/for-parents-and-families/ #goodparenting #healthyrelationships #covid19 Need support or would like to talk to someone about your family relationships? Services in the SA metro area, which usually incur a fee, are FREE until 30 June. Services in the Riverland (Berri) continue to be free of charge, as always. Get in touch today.

14.01.2022 In line with book week and our pet caterpillar friends in our kindy room the children have been very busy learning about caterpillars life cycle. Kerrie our student placement teacher and kindy team sought an opportunity to link book week and our caterpillar friends to teach children about the life cycle of a caterpillar and read about Caterpillars (We love The Very Hungry Caterpillar). Kerrie had groups of children learning as an intentional teaching moment and worked on their fine motor skills cutting out the cycle and utilising split pins for the turn-wheel. (E.Y.L.F 2.4.6)

11.01.2022 Last week our Toddler 1 team explored Aboriginal art work. They used sticks and their fingers to draw symbols that we see in their art work. The Toddlers then used symbol sheets as a provocation for their own sand drawings. The children are exploring the diversity of culture, heritage, background and tradition and that diversity presents opportunities for choices and new understandings (2.3.2)

By singing a song during hand washing we are able to prolong the time the children wash their hands and it makes the experience a fun and enjoyable one. the children are able to learn a concept of time by singing a song during the hand washing routine. The children showed were able to successfully build their personal hygiene and independence skills by washing their hands

02.01.2022 Dear families, Following the State Government’s announcement that a six-day lockdown will begin at midnight on 19th of November 2020, I wanted to provide you with some further information. Our centre will remain open for children of essential workers and those in vulnerable circumstances.... For children who can attend, please be assured we have maintained the highest level of hygiene since the beginning of the pandemic, and further strengthened these measures as community transmission was identified this week. This has included two-hourly touchpoint cleaning, health and wellness checks and limiting the number of non-staff adults within the centre. These measures will stay in place over the coming weeks. We also know that during uncertain times, routines and familiar faces are really important for children. We have and will continue to provide the best possible learning and care for all children in our centre. For those of you unable to attend or do not wish to send your child to care you can access our online learning platform Goodstart@home which is packed with fun, play-based learning activities. To sign up for free email [email protected] Please email us if you are unable to attend during the duration on [email protected] We know this week has been increasingly concerning for families but please be assured that we are here to help. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me to discuss the above. As always, I am here to help and answer any questions you may have. Regards Matthew Holmes Centre Director

02.01.2022 The year before school is so important for young children. It’s where they learn the skills to develop the confidence they need to make a smooth transition to school. At Goodstart the Kindergarten program is evidence based and is specifically designed for children aged 3-5 years. The curriculum is based on the Early Years Learning Framework, which is delivered by degree-qualified Early Childhood Teachers. This program nurtures children’s collaboration, communication, creativi...ty and critical thinking skills. Our approach gives your child the full benefits of a daily learning program while you are supported with the longer care hours we provide. That means your child gets the best start to their schooling, while you juggle the day-to-day demands of life. Find out more at: www.goodstart.org.au/kindergarten-sa

01.01.2022 Today we joined the fight against congenital heart disease- the leading cause of infant death in Australia, alongside the Heart Kids foundation by holding super hero dress up day fundraiser.
