25.01.2022 It is very important that we follow safe health & safety practices.

25.01.2022 It's that time of the year again families where we put on our pyjamas for a gold coin donation to help the pyjama angels, what is a pyjama angle they go into homes of foster children to educate and support their learning, your donation helps with the materials they need. So on Friday the 17th come to day care in your pyjamas.

23.01.2022 Dear families, As Victorians prepare for the five-day lockdown I wanted to share our plans for this time with you. Our centre will be open with all our usual strict hygiene practices in place... Like all Victorians, Goodstart is very experienced in dealing with COVID-19 lockdowns and we’re here to help your family and minimise any disruptions to your child’s early learning. If you decide to keep your child at home If you decide to keep your child at home, it will be treated as a normal absence day just like if your child was sick or on holidays. Health and hygiene Throughout COVID we have had the strictest health and hygiene measures in place, and this will continue. Our national health and safety team have been closely monitoring the situation and on Monday you will need to: Wear a mask when you come to our centre (children don’t need to) Drop off and pick up your child at our foyer Limit to one parent and keep visit to under 15 minutes We will also: Limit the movement of staff between centres Reduce non-essential visitors Cancel all in-person tours and orientations planned for the lock down period If you are unable to wear a mask for medical reasons, please call ahead before dropping off your child so we can talk through how to do this. Anyone experiencing the mildest symptoms, such as headache, fatigue, cough, sore throat or runny nose, are asked to not attend the centre and go forward immediately for testing, then isolate until they receive a negative result. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us on 9454 3555

22.01.2022 Given the current situation around COVID-19, we remind all parents and carers to please keep your children at home if they are unwell. For health advice: https://www.health.nsw.gov.au//dise/Pages/coronavirus.aspx

16.01.2022 Good afternoon everyone....As you know the Government announced that the 'free childcare' package will cease on the 12th of July and that the CCS system will return from 13 July, along with new transition measures (up until October) to support the sector and parents as they move back to the subsidy. This announcement is a little bit complex so we are working hard to understand what this means for our families and for Goodstart. We will provide an update to our centres and our families later today and over the coming days as we learn more. #5weekstogo!

12.01.2022 The Department of Health and Victoria’s Chief Health Officer are urging parents and carers to keep young children at home if they are unwell, after a rise in ou...tbreaks of viral gastroenteritis (also known as gastro) in childcare centres. Viral gastroenteritis is highly infectious. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, fever, abdominal pain, headache and muscle aches. Symptoms can take up to three days to develop and usually last between one or two days, sometimes longer. Infants or children in childcare or school, as well as staff, who develop vomiting or diarrhoea should stay at home until at least 48 hours after their symptoms have stopped, as they will still be infectious. If symptoms are severe or they persist, or you are concerned, please visit your local GP for advice and possible testing. As we are currently seeing high numbers of Emergency Department (ED) presentations and long wait times at the RCH, we recommend attending your local GP if care is required, as your child will be seen quicker. Anyone recovering from gastroenteritis should avoid visiting hospitals, childcare centres and aged care facilities to avoid spreading the infection to those most vulnerable. Any person living in a household with someone who has gastroenteritis should also refrain from visiting these high-risk facilities until at least 48 hours after the last person in the household has recovered. To learn more about gastroenteritis, view our RCH Kids Health Information fact sheet here: https://bit.ly/3l2CD86

11.01.2022 Our centre is open and welcoming families who need extra support at this difficult time. Children thrive when they have a regular routine especially at times of uncertainty and stress and we are working hard to keep all our children and our team members safe and healthy and still enjoying learning every day. Our centres have very well practised infection control procedures and our teams have the training to ensure good hygiene is occurring throughout the day.... Our centre is cleaned daily (and things like door handles much more frequently) with the best suited cleaning products and in the right way We are strictly enforcing rigorous exclusion policies for children and Goodstarters in line with advice from the public health authorities We have banned all, but essential visitors and we’ve put a stop to excursions, and enforcing social distancing by adults in line with Government guidelines Health authorities tell us that COVID-19 is different from other diseases and the research to date shows little to no evidence of children contracting the disease from each other. The Department of Health continues to advise that children who contract the disease are likely to develop mild symptoms. The real risk appears to be that children can pass the diseases on to more vulnerable people (such as the elderly or the chronically ill). We’ll continue to do all we can to keep our centres open to offer high quality early learning in safe environments during this challenging time. Help for Families Many families have been thrown suddenly into financial crisis but there is help available and I can offer confidential advice on how to apply for 13 weeks of free access (subject to certain requirements) We’ve developed some fun, high quality learning at home resources for children of families who are currently in isolation, those who have had to cut back on days or temporarily leave our Goodstart family. It’s called Goodstart@Home Goodstart has changed its holiday policy to assist our families we are offering a 25% holiday discount for up to 12-weeks’ worth of absences (up from the current 4 weeks) with no notice time. We’ve also developed some fact sheets on key issues for families on the virus and the assistance they can apply for There’s also been an increase in allowable absences of up to 62 days which we’re letting our families know about

03.01.2022 We are all in this together!! #fightcovid19

02.01.2022 Please see attached an Image we’ve come across that simply explains the latest advice from the Prime Minister around Australia’s response to COVID-19. We just wanted to reassure you that our centre is open and we will continue to provide an essential service to our children and families. Goodstart is well prepared and has been planning around COVID-19 since early January.... Our teams are highly trained in dealing with infectious diseases and we have Public Health approved infection control processes. We use hospital-grade cleaning products and have rigorous hygiene practices and protocols in place. It is important to remember that maintaining your child’s daily routines and positive relationships can be beneficial during uncertain and stressful times such as these. Our priorities are ensuring the ongoing safety, health and wellbeing of everyone in our Goodstart family and continuing to provide the highest standard of early learning and care in our 665 centres across Australia for the families that rely on us each day.
