25.01.2022 Exciting times as children who are transitioning are reunited with their friends.

24.01.2022 This stage in your child's life is crucial. Make it count. In the first five years of life, your childs brain develops faster and more than at any other time in their life. Children need a stimulating and caring environment with many different activities to give them the best chance to reach their full potential. If you're looking for childcare, we have vacancies available. Book a Tour with our Centre Director now: https://www.goodstart.org.au/plympton

24.01.2022 Benefits Of Cooking With Children Spending time in the kitchen and cooking new recipes helps children to develop a positive connection to all different types of foods including fruits and vegetables. Forming a positive experience with fresh foods is so important because healthy foods are the foundation for good nutrition. Children will also learn basic cooking skills that they can use for the rest of their lives.

24.01.2022 With the help of their educators, yesterday our preschool children successfully set up and helped run their own outdoor Cafe! The children loved buying and selling baby chinos (Coffee) and muffins to their friends, as well as taking orders and calculating payments. This experience helped to develop the childrens literacy and numeracy skills and encourages positive social interactions through sharing and negotiation. There were many smiling faces during this activity as well as a few milk moustaches!

23.01.2022 At Goodstart, we believe that you shouldn’t pay for things you can’t use like paying fees when your centre is closed. That’s why Goodstart has removed fees on public holidays. We hope all our families have a wonderful Easter break and Happy Easter from Goodstart Plympton.

23.01.2022 Got a niggling feeling that someone you know or care about it isnt behaving as they normally would? Perhaps they seem out of sorts? More agitated or withdrawn? Or theyre just not themselves. Trust that gut instinct and act on it. By starting a conversation and commenting on the changes youve noticed, you could help that family member, friend or workmate open up. If they say they are not ok, you can follow our conversation steps to show them theyre supported and help them find strategies to better manage the load. If they are ok, that person will know youre someone who cares enough to ask.

23.01.2022 Over the past couple of weeks learning space 6 have been learning about planets and our solar system! The children have had lots of fun assisting their educators In blowing up planets to display in the classroom as well as helping to decide the order in which they should be placed. At morning group time our educators will put on The solar system song and The children excitedly rush around trying to locate the previously blown up planets as they are stated in the song. The children are now able to identify each planet and are becoming very familiar with the order in which they belong. Seems like we might have some future astronauts in our classroom! Songs are a great way for children to retain information, feel free to have a listen to their solar system song : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2prtmPEjOc

22.01.2022 The year before school is so important for young children. It’s where they learn the skills to develop the confidence they need to make a smooth transition to school. At Goodstart the Kindergarten program is evidence based and is specifically designed for children aged 3-5 years. The curriculum is based on the Early Years Learning Framework, which is delivered by degree-qualified Early Childhood Teachers. This program nurtures children’s collaboration, communication, creativi...ty and critical thinking skills. Our approach gives your child the full benefits of a daily learning program while you are supported with the longer care hours we provide. That means your child gets the best start to their schooling, while you juggle the day-to-day demands of life. Find out more at: www.goodstart.org.au/kindergarten-sa

21.01.2022 Teaching children how to be sustainable plays a massive role in our curriculum here at Goodstart Plympton. Children participate in experiences which will enhance their knowledge, and encourage them to contribute in keeping our environment safe and healthy.

21.01.2022 Why children love messy play. Messy play is important for young children, giving them endless ways to develop and learn. Messy play helps children to develop and improve their gross and fine motor skills, co-ordination and concentration. Messy play offers an opportunity for children to use all their senses to discover and explore their environment, and develop their imagination, creative thinking and ability to problem solve and experiment with solutions.

18.01.2022 Benefits of threading beads with children. Finger muscles get strengthened and childrens pincer grip gets firmer, thus preparing them for writing lessons in future. Also, beading requires rotation, shifting etc., which improves the childs overall hand manipulation skills. Threading beads also improves fine motor skills as well as gross motor skills.

18.01.2022 Our Toddlers love helping us to water our plants. We are also being sustainable by recycling water that we have not used during the day.

17.01.2022 Fun with Gloop. If you havent made Gloop yet, then this is a must for any toddler or child to try. It is super fun and super messy, I am not sure who had the most fun, me or the kids!! Gloop is an interesting mixture with a unique texture to explore and play with. Playing with Gloop is a fabulous sensory and science activity to learn about the concepts of what a solid and liquid is.

17.01.2022 At Goodstart Plympton we encourage your children to be the leaders of tomorrow through play based interactive learning experiences.

17.01.2022 We have been celebrating book week with many different activities including reading stories with the children within in all learning spaces and dressing up as characters from the stories we have read. It has been a great week to enjoy literacy with the children in our centre.

16.01.2022 Today is Early Childhood Educators Day. Early Childhood Educators' Day recognises and celebrates the work of Australia's educators in early learning services for their wonderful contribution to the wellbeing and healthy development of the young children in their care. It's a chance to say thank you to Australias early childhood educators on a very personal level by service operators, families and their children, as well as collectively at the national level. We thanked our educators by putting on a morning tea feast.

15.01.2022 Last week our little artists in learning space 2 decorated their own Baby Shark themed hats! By basing the activity around the childrens interest in the popular Baby shark song, this helped to focus their attention and encouraged them to participate. This type of craft activity helps the toddlers to develop their fine motor skills as well as creativity and imagination. This experience was a lot of fun for not only the children but the educators aswell!

15.01.2022 Benifits of using scissors for children. Cutting gives young children independent movements of each finger. Cutting with scissors works on the separation of two sides of the hand and strengthens hand muscles. Bilateral coordination is also addressed when they have to hold the scissors in one hand and the paper in the other.

15.01.2022 Did you know strong connections between educators, children and families provide children with a sense of wellbeing and result in early learning experiences which are more positive and productive? Our experienced and trusted educators help children form new relationships and learn to play, explore and experiment confidently. 14.01.2022 All sandpits have been refilled in preparation for summer fun! Both children and educators are looking forward to more outdoor activities and water play in the upcoming months

14.01.2022 The importance of educating and protecting children from the dangers and trauma that can be caused by fire is so important, so this week we had the Emergency Fire Services visit our service. Our Kindy children really enjoyed this experience, and loved using the fire hose.

14.01.2022 Earlier this week our little explorers in learning space 5 adventured through the garden in search of caterpillars! Our eductors decided to plan this fun exploration after observing the childrens fascination with a caterpillar they found during outdoor play last week. As the search began, children examined the plants very carefully and noticed a few bumps on some of their leaves. Thats because the caterpillar ate it!Kira explained to her friends. While the children were l...ooking through the bumpy leaves they spotted a baby earth worm wriggling through the dirt! They observed the worm with curiousity and giggled at the way he squirmed through the soil. This type of experience is very beneficial to a childs overall development as it encourages them to comfortably explore their natural environment whilst practicing each of their 5 senses. Even though the children didnt find any caterpillars, they were determined to stay commited to the activity and persisted with their search! See more

10.01.2022 Within the past few weeks we have had some new staff join our team. This week we would like to introduce Corina Codea who you will see in Learning Space 7. Dear parents and staff, My name is Corina Codea and I am the new staff member in Learning Space 7. ... I have worked as I teacher for more than 27 years in Europe and Australia. I possess a Diploma in Children Services, a Licentiate Degree Diploma in teaching English as a Second Language and a Diploma in Teaching. My passion for teaching and educating young learners of all backgrounds has grown wider. I can quickly experience a wide variety of classroom philosophies and determine which strategies work well and which not. I adore teaching and I love using my knowledge of early childhood teaching methods and techniques to help children to become confident learners, knowledgeable, strong and resilient. I’m looking forward to work with you all in a friendly, respectful and collaborative way. Please feel free to approach me if you have any questions.

09.01.2022 Our older Nursery children had the opportunity to make their own pizzas today. They chose their own ingredients, placed them on their base, and enjoyed them for lunch. We had healthy choices such as spinach, mushrooms, capsicums, ham and cheese. Yummy!

09.01.2022 It has now been 3 weeks since I joined Goodstart Plympton as Centre Director and I would like to thank you all for welcoming me into your community. For those of you who I am yet to meet I have added a little bit about me. Hi my name is Jodie Hannaford and I your Centre Manager of Goodstart Plympton. My passion for working with children began when I was in high school and did a work placement in a child care centre. After leaving school, I completed my Certificate III before ...moving on to complete my Diploma in Children’s Services. My child care career began in 1998 and I strongly believe that all children are unique and should be respected, and I thoroughly enjoy watching them grow and develop into independent little people. I'm very passionate about delivering high quality care to all families and children within my centre. I want all children to know that they are successful, capable and confident learners and that they are all unique. I want to offer them a place where they are comfortable and confident to engage in learning relationships with their educators and peers. I will endeavour to help them understand they have the right to belong and contribute to many communities and groups and they are part of the greater world - and in so have shared responsibility for the natural and built environments. I am an advocate for professional development for myself and all educators, as I believe this only continues to build strong and passionate professional educators who actively implement, promote and advocate for high quality outcomes for all children and families. When working with families I want them to understand that they are and always will be the most important part of their child’s life and education and as a director believe that they are a fundamental part of our role in teaching. In this I ask families to contribute to their child’s learning in the Service through parent involvement and input. I understand that time can be an issue and always aim to make this easy for the parents and families by adapting communication styles to best suit the individual family needs. I look forward to meeting you and your family and discussing how we can support your child to develop and reach their full potential. See more

They never cease to amaze, surprise and wonder you as they grow and develop. We see this genius too which is why we model our curriculum around identifying what makes your child special and providing the right environment and opportunities to see them thrive. Contact us to find out how we can instil a love of learning in your child: https://www.goodstart.org.au/plympton

06.01.2022 Check out this beautiful artwork created by our preschool children! After reading the aboriginal dreamtime story How the bird got its colours and discussing which colours they observed, the children were given the opportunity to paint one of their own. The kindergarteners loved this new experience and had a lot of fun mixing together the different paints to create their own shades and colour combinations. The Children now have a strong understanding of the primary colours and how these are the basis for all colours! We are very proud of their creative efforts :)

By providing a variety of baby-friendly, open-ended, every-day materials, infants and young toddlers have the opportunity to discover how their senses work through imagination-based play and experimentation.

02.01.2022 At Goodstart Plympton it is a priority to support the inclusion of all children from many different cultural backgrounds. As a way to acknowledge and celebrate the diversity throughout the centre, our awesome eductaors in Learning space 1 decided to organise an on-going experience in which the children are given the opportunity to help paint a flag from the one of the different countries that our families come from. Each week the educators will choose a new country's flag for the children to work on. So far they have made German, Indian and Australian flags, and plan to continue painting more in the coming weeks! This is a great way to encourage children to develop respect for all cultures and embrace diversity!
