24.01.2022 Today on National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Childrens Day we began by saying our centre Acknowledgement of Country, which we introduced for the first time. The children were enthusiastic as they repeated each line of the Acknowledgement as Maddi led it. Each child received a copy of the Acknowledgement of Country to take home and share with their family. To celebrate the day we also listened to a story read by Aboriginal author Bronwyn Cochrane (Bonnie). The sto...ry was called Jimmy the Worrier. It was written to help children know its okay to feel anxious and that everyone worries. Jimmy the worrier discovers that there is a magical rock that will take all his worries away. Jimmy and his Mum find a worry rock and this helps Jimmy to release all his worries and he is able to become happy and more relaxed. We also introduced a weaving experience to enable the children to gain a simple understanding of the art of cultural weaving. What a wonderful day of celebrating the diverse array of children within our centre. See more
