25.01.2022 We had some spunky hair styles at Conway Court over Thursday and Friday last week for crazy hair day .. it has been a different few months for all but we were able to bring lots of smiles and individuality to our centre this past week and capture the cheeky side of everyone including the educators. To extend on this the kinder and pre-kinder will be setting up their own salon in the outdoor space .. we will upload some photos when it is finished .. watch this space

25.01.2022 Tinker tables have many benefits for childrens development and learning. It supports the learning of how things work, as they are using real tools and can see the cause and effect of using these tools . It allows children to experiment, estimate, explore and construct their own knowledge as they Tinker. Using tools also assists childrens fine motor development and we often think children should be learning to write as soon as they can, but before writing they need to develop their fine motor skills, so their muscles have the ability to hold the pencil and maneuver it around, Tinkering enables this development. 25.01.2022 Did you know that Traralgon is Aboriginal for Little river of few fish? We are so proud to have had Nanette (Aunty Nanny) come to our centre at Conway Court to tell our story using beautiful Aboriginal art. This story is specific to us, it shares our story at Goodstart Conway Court, where we have come from and where we are going.... I wont share all the details, as I could never tell the story as well as Aunty Nanny, so please take the time to have a read, the story is with the pictures. I am so proud to have consigned this art to Conway for future generations to ask questions, be amazed, talk about and better appreciate the Aboriginal Culture. Thank you, Families, Children, Educators and Aunty Nanny, for allowing me to leave my mark at Goodstart Conway Court I will miss you. Cheers, Nathan

24.01.2022 Last week conway court participated in crazy hair day .. on Thursday our centre director Leonie visited our kinder program and had her hair done at Salon Conway. What a great sport she was too and the children had an absolute ball and used their understanding of their local communities of hairdressers to give Leonie a fabulous hair style, just right for visiting our favourite family restaurant .. can you guess where the children suggested Leonie go out to ..

21.01.2022 Its been such a challenging few months for all of us - our families, our children and our educators and staff at Conway Court but yesterday we celebrated all the wonderful things in our lives that we need to be happy about and that is each other and our unique qualities that bring us together as a team. Thank you - Leonie

21.01.2022 Our menu planning follows the nutrition Australia for children guidelines.. our centre cook has been reviewing our centre menu and has introduced a variety of soups .. we have had potato and leek, sweet potato, vegetable, minestrone and pumpkin soup on a rotating 5 week cycle. This is keeping us warm during these fresh cold days.

20.01.2022 This week In the nursery we have been focusing on all things spring. Educators set up a flower painting sensory bag for the children to push the paint around with their hands. Through this experience the children had the opportunity to explore colour using their sensory integration as the paint moved around with the movement of their hands. This also allowed the children to explore cause and effect as they controlled the direction of the paint. These flowers will be put on display in our nursery for the children to develop their sense of belonging in their environment and to add a little bit of spring and brightness to our days.

20.01.2022 (second post for the night check out the first one, it is lighter hearted). As my last post as the Director of Goodstart Conway Court I would like to thank you. Thank you families, for trusting us with your most precious assets your children. A Mother once said to me on a tour I am shopping for a stranger to look after my child, that is one of the most powerful things anyone has ever said to me, it will stick with me forever.... This is why it is so important that we do our best everyday to support you as parents and your children. Thank you for sticking with us as we built something very special at Conway court. Without the children I would not be in this job, each and every one of them is truly special, full of life and wounder, deserving only the best from us adults, that is why everyday we try and do better then the previous day, constant reflection and growth, I am sure you have seen Conway go from one strength to another. It is this reason alone that I have accepted the role at the new centre in Morwell. I want to massively thank the Educators at Conway, I came in with a very different way of thinking and doing things then they had experienced before, we grew together, they became more adaptable, learnt and became a team that are full of amazing, beautiful and dedicated people that I trust caring for my own family, it takes a team. I have never loved and cared for such a special group of people I work with, they honestly love your children and give their all, everyday. You are all something special. I want to save a special thank you for my Centre Leadership Team. Tracey you have only gone from one strength to another. You were determined to learn everything you could about Early Childhood so that you could better support children and families. You do anything you can and get very creative when it you can to support the families that need us most I am so lucky to have you coming with me. Fiona This is hard, there are not enough words and we have both had a lot of tears together as this has been getting closer. There is nothing more I could have ever asked from you. You had my back, helped with the horrible part of my job, celebrated our successes together and without you Conway would not be what it is, I would also not be the Director I am today. I owe you. With that I am so happy that Leonie is joining Conway Court as the new Director. She has come to us with excitement, knowledge and experience. I am so happy to be handing the keys over to you, I know that you will allow Conway to continue to grow and improve while maintaining the amazing culture it has today. We all started as strangers, but have left as trusted partners. With love, Nathan.

20.01.2022 The end of a big day! 150 sausages later we are ready to go home. Thank you all for a nice bbq, was lovely to see you and your families enjoying good company. We would also like to thank @gippslandmotorgroup @gmgmotorgroup @traralgonmazda for the use of their BT-BBQ Ute.... Cheers, Nathan.

20.01.2022 Welcome to Rachel our wonderful new admin assistant who has joined our Conway Team. Please introduce yourself to her and welcome her to the team.

20.01.2022 Yesterday was talk like a pirate day .. in the kinder room we had some amazing looking costumes we also drew our own treasure maps and used plastic bottles to make our own pirate ships which we will add to our sensory tray and see if they float in the next couple of days .. and we used our ‘letter of the week’ to try and think of words associated with pirates that start with ‘A’ - we came up with 3 - Ale, Aaaarrrr and ahoy... if you can you think of any others please let us know we can add them to our word board.. Thank-you to all the families who contributed a gold coin to go towards kids with cancer .. an important part of a child’s learning is understanding that sometimes we should to help others when we can and show compassion to those less fortunate than us..

19.01.2022 Children have been developing an understanding about caring for the natural world as we have been growing grass and sunflowers for our garden, as well as investigating the lifecycle of flowers through visual supports in our focus areas in the class room .. in a few months our garden will look amazing with all our hard work over the last month ..

17.01.2022 Each day the children in the Pre-kinder 2 transfer the caterpillars from the old mulberry leaves to the new ones using the paintbrush as they are so delicate. The caterpillars need this process to survive in this environment. The children have been able to experience the full caterpillar cycle.

17.01.2022 Today we celebrated R U OKAY DAY. It is okay to not be okay but a conversation, act of kindness, a thoughtful gesture or just someone to talk to can make the world of difference to someone ..

17.01.2022 To all our wonderful families, we would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. From Leonie and all the team at Conway Court. We would also like to take this time to remind you that the centre is closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day. We hope you enjoy this time with your families.

17.01.2022 We received a card from a casual staff member who is moving away. I would like to thank Dee for her hard work over her time at Conway Court.

14.01.2022 Yesterday we celebrated Goodstarts 10th birthday milestone. We have made so many achievements and accomplishments within this time and still continue to educate and care for our next generation with passion and pride. At conway Court we had one big party and celebrated with all things birthday .. party hats, cake and singing and dancing..

14.01.2022 Our kinder program always incorporates STEM based learning - this is learning and development around science, technology, engineering and maths. These concepts overlap each other and experiences can support more than one of these areas of learning within a stem framework. In the kinder program over the last couple of months we have been focusing on experimental concepts - so we have been using the concepts within experimenting which includes questioning, hypothesizing and observing change by introducing the same experiences under a range of conditions to question and observe the impacts and compare the results. All of these experiences have encouraged conversations in identifying the cause and effect aspects of the ingredients used in our experiments - that is how one substance responds differently under different conditions.

14.01.2022 Hello Families, As Australias largest provider of early learning and care, we are here to support families in communities across the country. 13.01.2022 HAPPY EDUCATORS DAY, Thank you to all our amazing educators for your dedication, commitment, and love towards all our families, children and each other. Thank you to all our families for your ongoing commitment and entrusting us with your valuable beings.. your children - LEONIE

11.01.2022 Who doesn’t love a good baked spud on a cool day with all the trimmings ... the children put the baked potatoes together as they selected what they want themselves with the options of bacon, coleslaw, sour cream and cheese and gave educators their verbal requests, built just the way we want it with only the things we enjoy which means less wastage of food and more meaningful conversations at the lunch table. This is always a big favourite at conway Court with the children and educators ..

11.01.2022 Over the last month in the kinder room we have been exploring and investigating the changing of seasons from winter to spring .. what does this mean for our natural environment - what are the physical signs In Nature that the season is changing. The fruit trees In our outdoor spaces have grown blossoms and these have now fallen and tiny buds of fruit are forming.. our plants and vegetation is having a sudden and obvious growth as trees and plants go from being bare to having ...fresh immature green leaves. Today to celebrate spring we had a spring day.. some of us dressed up as fairies and butterflies and flowers were a big theme today as we celebrate new life in nature. We made our own ladybug biscuits and used our sandpit space to have our own picnic using role modeling and engaging in purposeful reciprocal language as we collaborated and explored our sense of being. 09.01.2022 Dear families, We would like to understand how we can best support your childs learning at home during the pandemic. If we were to offer regular online sessions, where your child could connect with educators at the centre, would you be interested in joining us?... The sessions would engage children in play based learning, and be no more than 40 minutes each. Thank-you for letting us know yes or no by Wednesday the 5th of August. Kind regards, Leonie

08.01.2022 THUNDERCLAP!!!!!Today is International Mens Day and we are celebrating at Goodstart as males make up an important part of our Team. Males are definitely a minority in the Early Childhood field which is a shame as men do an amazing job of caring and educating our children. It would be great to see more men in the future taking on roles in the early childhood industry. Jason is one of our very reliable casual educators that supports our permanent staff. Jason has a tricky job... of learning all the childrens interests and routines in every room as he supports us across the whole service. You can see the excitement in the childrens faces when Jason enters their rooms. Nathan is an amazing dedicated director who has been the major reason that our centre has achieved what it has. From increasing our occupancy up to 100% to our full indoor and outdoor renovations. Nathans vision and hard work has guided the team forward. He is going to leave huge shoes to fill by our next director and the team sure is going to miss him a lot. Thank you to Nathan and Jason for all the hard work. #ourownstyle Fiona and the Conway Team

08.01.2022 The last 6 weeks have been a nervous and anxious time for everyone, at Conway court we wanted to keep our childrens world as normal as possible and promote happiness and security. Every room has been planning and critically reflecting to ensure all our children feel safe, supported and connected to each other. Hygiene has been a focus using a variety of songs to encourage the children to wash their hands for an appropriate length of time and using experimental experiences to increase their understanding of the importance of washing correctly, all the while still having FUN.

06.01.2022 From the 27th Of May to the 3rd of June the centre celebrated National reconciliation week. Reconciliation is about acknowledging the indigenous people as the first people and embedding respect in the next generation of learners and engaging in conversations about why we acknowledge the indigenous Australians as the first people. Particularly with the older children we have engaged in lots of conversations around our countrys heritage and history, its important to remember children are learning and taking in information before they are even born and we never stop learning, therefore we can instill understanding and knowledge in them from an early age and have confidence in their ability to learn and grow from knowledge passed down from us ..

06.01.2022 Hi Families, We are excited to continue our work around Key Educator Relationships. Over the next week, your Key Educators will come share with you some exciting news, some are moving! One Educator from each room will be moving into the next room.... Why? The purpose of Key Educator Relationships is so that the children and families have a familiar person for them, that knows them well, this means as your children transition to their next rooms, they will already have a familiar face to greet them! We are also changing break and cover staff shifts, and moving those Educators permanently into the rooms, this means we are adding 6 more Key Educators on the floor! With each room then able to manage their own breaks and daily activities, they are better able to work around the needs of their children. We have also added more Educators on open and close. We hope you are as excited about this progress as we are! Cheers, -Nathan.

05.01.2022 The best things in life are free!

05.01.2022 The kinder children commemorated ANZAC DAY this week, this is an emotional time for our kinder teacher Sharon as Im sure it is for many others who have strong connections to veterans of the numerous wars and conflicts Australia and New Zealand were involved in. We used literacy and explored old memorabilia to help us understand and be grateful for what we have today. Together we learnt about the sacrifice our past generations have given using the symbolism of the poppies and the ANZAC cookies.

04.01.2022 Random fun fact; There are more Goodstart Early Learning Centres then KFCs in Australia. 640 vs 680.

04.01.2022 Goodstart Conway Court Community Pantry. Some days we find our pay a little short, or we didnt have enough time to meet the shops. This pantry works on the Give what you can, take what you need basis. Please take what you need and donate what you can.

04.01.2022 Hi Families, It is my pleasure to introduce our new Director at Conway Court, Leonie! Leonie starts with us on Monday the 9th of December and will be working one on one with myself for the week while we introduce her to you and your children while learning how how our centre operates.... Please feel comfortable to take the time to say hello to Leonie, my last day at Conway will be Friday the 13th of December. Cheers, Nathan. My name is Leonie and I am the new Centre Director at Conway Court. I have been working in early years education for 25 years and have been a Director with Goodstart for the past 15 years. I am very fortunate to be working with the very dedicated professional Educators at Conway Court and I look for forward to meeting all the children and families when I start next week. Kind Regards Leonie.

03.01.2022 Hi Families, Just a quick reminder about sending children to the centre while unwell. We do have a procedure we must follow which helps to keep everyone safe.

01.01.2022 Lillys staff photos for 2019 are here! Although I am leaving, our plan (all going well) is to have Lilly continue at Conway Court 1 day per week as Fiona is going to become a Certified Therapy Dog Handler. Feel free to follow Lilly on Instagram at lilly_the_therapydog... Cheers, Nathan.

01.01.2022 We love to eat what we grow at Conway Court. By getting involved in gardening, our children have a chance to take care of their own vegetables and fruits. Our children have the opportunity in our program to learn about different species of plants and what those plants need to help them grow. They also get to learn about the different seasons, weather, and the affects they have on the plants. Our veggie garden has really flourished with the help of educator, Trudy, who has a degree in horticulture. The children will soon learn to love eating spinach, lettuce, leeks, and even broccoli. As time passes by, the importance of healthy eating will therefore, ripple throughout their lives.

01.01.2022 Sesame Street has done it again. Videos like this get me straight in the feels, what a beautiful way to show respect for children with Autism, that they are accepted and a fantastic way to start having these conversations with our children about others and their needs. <3 Nathan
