22.01.2022 Pictured are our Kindergarten representatives along with ECT Miss Jamie who were proud to hand over to one of our centre Mums, Kylie-Ann Mayer, a special canvas artwork for the residents of Aveo Aged Care. As part of the Rainbow Trail that many centres have been sharing the message of unity during these uncertain times, we created this memorable keepsake. This was to not only share the wonderful message that After every storm, theres a rainbow but, also to incorporate an ...aspect of our childrens interest and love of butterflies. Together with their teachers, the children chose to decorate a paper butterfly that looked like a heart shape. They also added special messages inside. The children discussed how this can Help the Grandmas and Grandpas that cannot have visitors at the moment feel happy and loved. Our completed artwork came together with a 3D aspect, arranging the butterflies onto the canvas in a way that allows them to fly if the canvas is moved or in a gentle breeze. We hope it is displayed in the Aveo Community Centre with pride of place for all to see. Thank you Kylie-Ann for your suggestion towards this community project.

21.01.2022 This week we have been learning about the importance of ANZAC DAY tomorrow and what the Poppy is a symbol of in all rooms. Today, the Kindergarten children were proud to tell us that they learned today what ANZAC stands for and The special Poppies grew on the beach in Turkey. Many people went to battle there to keep us safe. Lest We Forget

19.01.2022 Hi Goodstart families! As you know the Government announced today that the free childcare package will expire on 12 July and that the CCS system will return f...rom 13 July, along with new transition measures (up until October) to support the sector and parents as they move back to the subsidy. This announcement is a little bit complex so we are working hard to understand what this means for our families and for Goodstart. We will provide an update to our centres and our families later today and over the coming days as we learn more. #5weekstogo! See more

16.01.2022 Today we are proud to celebrate National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Childrens Day. This is a time for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities to celebrate the strengths and culture of our children. On and around 4th August, all Australians have the opportunity to show their support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, as well as learn about the crucial impact that culture, family and community play in the life of every Abori...ginal and Torres Strait Islander child. This years Childrens Day 2020 theme: We are the Elders of tomorrow, hear our voice honours our Elders custodians of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander traditional knowledge, passed down to our children through stories and cultural practice. Goodstart Wishart acknowledges and pays our respects to all Elders, Past, Present and Emerging.

16.01.2022 At this Easter time, The Smeds and The Smoos storybook reminds us to not forget to check in with Grandma and Grandpa who will be missing cuddles and kisses. Take some much needed time to video chat and say hello and tell them how much they are loved. #weareallinthistogether

11.01.2022 We love embracing all cultures within our centre community and allowing our educators to share their family traditions and cultural customs. 11.01.2022 What storybook was read tonight at bedtime in your house?

11.01.2022 We invite risk-taking! It acknowledges that taking calculated risks and dealing with uncertainty is one way by which children become confident, resilient and involved learners. "You have to go round me", one child was heard to say.

11.01.2022 Dont forget this Wednesday 10th June is Pyjama Day here at Goodstart Wishart. We look forward to seeing everyone cosy and comfy in their pjs all day. Bring your teddy also if you like and dont forget to label them with your name just incase they may get misplaced. (We think the staff are more excited than the children for this fun day!)

08.01.2022 A reminder to All our families to update your information on the MyGov Website/App. Even though child care is free at the moment, its really important that you continue to update My Gov with any changes to your income or activity, as soon as changes occur. Your income and activity information will be used when your Child Care Subsidy is balanced annually, which occurs in July this year. This information will used to determine how many hours and what Child Care Subsidy rate y...ou will receive when free child care ends. Please note, updating your information will not affect your eligibility for free child care. Everyone is eligible for free child care until the end of June, at this stage. So, please log in to MyGov and make sure your familys information is up to date, especially if you have recently experienced changes to reduced work hours or job losses because of COVID-19.

07.01.2022 R U OK? Day is a national day of action observed in September each year dedicated to reminding everyone to ask someone, Are you OK? As a team, Goodstart Wishart believe it is important to remember every day of the year to support people who may be struggling with lifes ups and downs, especially during these uncertain times. Tonight, take a moment to focus on the good things that happened today and we hope this little checklist helps remind you of some of the many things we can be grateful for and that today was a good day!

07.01.2022 The Kindergarten children are demonstrating lots of interest in drawing and writing, a fundamental skill for school readiness. They are also exploring new skills as they hold a ruler with one hand and the pencil in the other to create lines, shapes and exploring concepts of images. A proud creation of Little Ladders.

06.01.2022 Dont forget we are having Pyjama Week all this week leading up to the annual National Pyjama Day happening this Friday 17th July. Children and Educators will be coming dressed in their pjs each day this week and we invite you all to make a donation towards the work The Pyjama Foundation do for children in Foster Care. 06.01.2022 Wishing all our amazing Mums a very special and memorable Mothers Day today and we look forward to planning a Centre celebration event once we are able to do so.

05.01.2022 Our Toddler Room has been filled with creative wonder as they have been busy learning this week about under the sea animals. Everyone loves the song Tiny Turtle Tim and today created their very own turtles through art. This supports and fosters their individual development as well as their social and emotional skills through expressing themselves verbally, and through the medium of painting.

03.01.2022 Dont forget to subscribe to the Goodstart@Home website and just in time for Mothers Day with added activities for you to do at home with the whole family over the weekend.

03.01.2022 Dont forget to come dressed in your pjs today!

02.01.2022 Next Wednesday 2 September is Early Childhood Educators Day! This year it coincides with the start of spring and we thought what better way to celebrate than ...to say it with flowers! We are calling on our families to help fill our centres with greenery on this important day! It doesnt matter whether you bring a plant from a shop, something from your garden or even a sneaky snip from the side of the road it will surely put a smile on the faces of our well-deserving teams! 02.01.2022 First Nations Bedtime Stories Challenge This morning, our Pre-Kindergarten & Kindy children listened to a special story called The Lost Joey. It was told by an Indigenous Elder, Robin Japanangka Granites from Yuendumu. We all loved this story!

02.01.2022 National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. The dates for NRW remain the same each year; 27 May to 3 June. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively. Reconciliation must live in the hearts,... minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. More information can be read on the website: www.reconciliation.org.au 2020 Theme is In this together which is even more significant due to recent events around the world. Today, we began our special canvas project with staff adding their handprints to the canvas and we will continue to add the childrens handprints over the coming days. Watch this space for the finished masterpiece.

01.01.2022 We think its safe to say that 2020 has been a year unlike any other. For the world, for Australia and for our Goodstart team. Over the past few months people, ...families and communities have been tried and tested in the most extraordinary ways. As frontline essential workers our Goodstarters rose to this challenge, stepping up to support our 60,000 families and 71,000 children through some incredibly challenging times. So weve declared this week Thank You Week! A week to celebrate and recognise our 10,000+ Goodstarters for continuing to go above and beyond in face of adversity. We have a few special surprises planned for our Goodstarters this week, but in the meantime wed love for our Goodstart families to get involved too! Please share your messages of thanks and support below and tag an educator or a centre who has really made a difference. #ThankYouWeek #InThisTogether
