22.01.2022 Hockey Gala Day 2021 Today was a cold and wet day in Cowra for hockey, but that did not put a dampener on the day at all. All students had a great time and were sorry to finish. 21.01.2022 Kindy Orientation Another great day for Kindy Orientation today. Our 3 new kindred spent a full day at school today. They learnt about the sound ‘t’ and created some cats in hats. Then we read ‘The Wrong Book’ and made our own books following lunch was maths with counting, patterning and some construction work. In the afternoon we painted some ‘Very Cranky Bears’. 19.01.2022 This morning, our 2021 Stage 3 students said their Captain speeches in front of all students and staff. Each of our candidates would do an exceptional job should they be our next school captain. Please take time to listen to the kids' speeches and talk as a family to determine who you will vote for. Each family has one voting form that went home today. This is due back to school by Monday 30th November. Captain and Vice Captain will be announced at Presentation night.... 18.01.2022 Infants STEM In infants STEM this Term we are looking at making things that are "Fit For Purpose". Today our Goal was to build a house for Humpty to live in. The aims we agreed on were; for it to have a roof to keep the rain out, have a door so he can get in, to allow him to store some of his "stuff" and finally to look good. ... According to our aims, all houses built were indeed "Fit For Purpose". Well done Infants Mr Morrison Class teacher

18.01.2022 LEGO Mindstorms EV3 STEM Yesterday in STEM, the primary students moved a step closer to their goal of, "A remote controlled Lego Vehicle". The aim is to control the vehicle by using different colors to ask it to do different things, i.e. Green =Go, Red = Stop, Blue = Turn left.... Lots of Code was written and fine tuned, and some great progress was being made. I look forward to the race to come in a few weeks Mr Morrison Class Teacher



18.01.2022 3D STEM We christened our new 3D printer last week by printing some different types of water wheels for our science unit "Essential Energy". The students are very excited by the possibilities to come. We are also still working through the design process on some other 3D printing projects, so watch this space........ 17.01.2022 Primary Sport on a wet day. It was a bit wet outside today after the storm last night, so we played carpet bowls, but not just any game of carpet bowls, but a "Holey Moley" inspired game of "Holey Bowly". Some good bowling was done to get around various obstacles and we even finished with a game of "Bucket head " in which a bucket is placed on the bowlers head and their team then gives directions on which direction they need to bowl. ... 13.01.2022 Infants Science This term we have been looking at Living Things: what makes a living thing, how to describe features of living things and how to group living things according to those features. This week the students finished their zoos, where they had to work in groups to decide how to group their animals and then what features their enclosures would need. 13.01.2022 Harmony Day 2021 On Friday our school celebrated cultural diversity through a fantastic day of sharing and fun. Throughout the week, students collected stories and items to explain their cultural heritage and then on Friday they shared these with the rest of the school. Students also completed some fun activities and got to wear orange in support of Harmony Day. It was a wonderful opportunity to share together and support each other and our wider community.... 08.01.2022 Presentation Evening 2020 Last Thursday we celebrated student achievement at our annual Presentation evening. This year was a little different with it being held on the school grounds, with limited attendees. ALL students should be extremely proud of their efforts throughout 2020. 08.01.2022 Our first assembly for Term 2 - with an audience!!! Last Friday, we held our first assembly for the term. We had reason to celebrate, as this was our first assembly we had parents attend in over twelve months! It was awesome to be able to welcome our parents and community members, and hope we see many of you again next fortnight. In addition to our normal awards, we presented students with certificates from the recent combined small schools cross country carnival. We also ha...d a few students from Mrs Morrison's class share with the audience some things they have been learning in Mathematics and Literacy lessons. 06.01.2022 Car rally visit This afternoon, we had a visit from a car rally organised through the Rotary club of Orange. They raise money for cancer research and wanted to pop in and show the kids their cool cars. They also gave each student a school bag filled with goodies including a lunch box, drink bottle, pens, books, among other things as part of drought relief. We thoroughly enjoyed their visit and had many positive comments about how polite our students were, how well they sp...oke and interacted with the drivers as well as how beautiful our facilities were. 05.01.2022 Looking forward to STEM in 2021 Here is a video that I have been working on to show how much fun was had and how much was learnt last term while we had the Technology 4 Learning (T4L) LEGO STEM Share kit at our school. (it's long i know, but make sure you watch the race at the end!!) Over the holidays I have been busy learning how to use the T4L 3D printers that we have for Term 1 2021. 03.01.2022 Dubbo Zoo excursion What an awesome day we had at the Dubbo Zoo today. It was a warm one, however it was wonderful to see the many animals up close! 03.01.2022 Premier's Reading Challenge 2021 We are now in the swing of checking our book lists and planning how each student will reach their goal for this year's Premier's Reading Challenge. Each student will have time in Library sessions to access the PRC site but students can also access at home using their DET logins (this is being practised in class by our Infants). Kindy to Year 2 must read or be read to 30 books and Years 3-6 must read 25. There is a huge range of books in each l...evel's book list ranging from picture books, through to various popular series, as well as more challenging and newer books. The closing date for this year's challenge is Friday 20 August, so happy reading everyone, this year let's get everyone to reach their goals!
