20.01.2022 Hi Everyone! We hope you are having a wonderful start to your weekend! As we are counting down the days to our first session of Nippers (only 1 week away!!!) for the 2020/2021 season we would love to share with some exciting things! ... We are very happy and excited that Georgia Livingston has stepped up as manager of Nippers! Georgia has been an active participant of Nippers for a number of years and has brought many new families to the club who have happily continued through the Nipper program and have actively been apart of our club - from fundraising, cooking bbq’s, helping out on the beach and even becoming age managers themselves! It has been great to see, with this kind of commitment from our families our club is going to do amazing things! The beach and water coordinators will be working closely with an excellent team of helpful and fun loving age managers and water support personnel who are ready to go! Surf babies & Little life savers enrolments will be open next month and we are so excited to be holding this program again this season! Please check out our new website. It is amazing! : https://goolwaslsc.com.au All welcome to attend our epic clubhouse every weekend, we would love for you to become a social member of our club and if you would like to help out in any kind of way just ask! We are open from 2PM until 5PM saturday and sunday! Please keep your eyes out for our brand new member events!

18.01.2022 #NCSR2020 // Drowning figures published by Surf Life Saving Australia and Royal Life Saving Society - Australia today show that 248 people lost their lives to d...rowning in Australia in 2019/20. In SA, the figures sadly reveal that 14 people drowned in this state in the last 12 months, including 4 on the coast. Whilst coastal drownings were thankfully down on last year, SLSSA CEO, Damien Marangon, says that no number of drownings is acceptable. Damien, along with our Rescue of the Year Winner, Marley Fairclough, spoke to Channel 9 today to launch the report. They've urged all South Australian's to STOP, LOOK and PLAN when heading to the beach, swim between the flags where you can, never swim alone, don't drink and swim, and of course, look out for your mates. See Marley and Damien discuss the report on Channel 9 tonight at 6:00pm You can access the full National Coastal Safety Report here: https://issuu.com/surflifesavin//ncsr_2020_rgb_issuu_final #drowningprevention #watersafety #NCSR2020

18.01.2022 Congratulations Brady Hoppen on winning 2020 Surf Life Saving SA Lifeguard of the Year. Brady patrolled Goolwa Beach as a Lifeguard for the whole month of January, as well as patrolling our beach as a volunteer on the weekend. Tonight we also saw Tom Breen in the running for Youth Surf Life Saver of the Year. Tom had an amazing season patrolling over 190 volunteer hours, as well as helping out with nippers and other areas of our club. In addition, Matt Burrage, Ash-Monique Oughton and Tom Breen were acknowledged after exceeding 150 patrol hours last season. Fantastic effort by all members - keep up the great work!!
17.01.2022 Stay safe in the heat.
17.01.2022 As summer gets closer SLSSA wants to throw a big shout-out to all the volunteers working hard behind the scenes, making sure Clubs get off to a great start. On ...Saturday, a new batch of Senior Officials were put through their paces by Chief Referee, Richard Crowe here at Surf Central. Yesterday, another 18 amazing young people attended a teen Mental Health First Aid course at Glenelg Surf Life Saving Club, run by vollie extraordinaire Catherine. Over the past few weeks, Trainers, Assessors, Patrol Captains and Vice Captains, Youth and Nipper Coordinators (& their many helpers!), and the Advisory Committees have been zooming in for pre-season info sessions, getting across all the changes - thanks COVID - for the upcoming summer. (Age Group Managers and Surf Sports, you're up next!) We know Club Committees are also working extra hard this pre-season. All in all, it takes a village and we appreciate the engagement and enthusiasm of those volunteer prepping hard for the start of summer. If you run into one of your Club's many pre-season helpers, be sure to give them an elbow tap and say thanks.
