25.01.2022 The swimming season is almost coming to a close with this afternoon being our last regular training. Our windup will be held next week (15 March) with some games and novelty races followed by award presentations and pizzas. Hope to see you all there!

25.01.2022 Registrations and AGM Registration Day will be held this Wednesday 23 September from 3.30pm at GSCC (together with cricket and basketball). We will follow the registrations with our AGM. Apologies for the extreme short notice - we’ll keep it short and sweet but urgent business is setting of annual fees. We are really hoping to get some new faces on the committee - Robyn and myself are happy to renominate as President and Secretary, but we do need someone to take ove...r from Genine as Treasurer. Apologies to Karen Mannaerts, Secretary, on 0418849455. Thx

23.01.2022 Thanks to everyone who braved the weather yesterday to come to our first swimming club training! And well done to all the kids that were crazy enough to get in the water! Just a quick recap: BATHERS: one-piece racing bathers for girls, racing trunks for boys and preferably no rashie (all helps being streamlined)... CAP and GOGGLES recommended - simply because they keep the water out of their eyes EQUIPMENT: everyone has a bag with flippers, kickboard and cap - grab yours at the start of the lesson and return after. COACHES: with our great numbers this year we needed -and found!- FOUR willing coaches: Jess Lantzke is our head coach and will take the senior group Peta Clarke for the intermediate Richelle Glatz for the junior swimmers and Ruth Carr will take the Junior Dolphins THANK YOU LADIES - Swim Club couldn’t run without people like you volunteering your time and enthusiasm

22.01.2022 Reminder - our information night is on tomorrow, followed by the AGM. See you there

19.01.2022 Hi everyone, Just to confirm / remind that our first time trials are this Thursday at 5.30pm. This first session should only take 40-45 minutes. The time trial sessions will be run by us - parents - so when you come in some of us can get started with lane ropes, others can grab a chair, a stopwatch and clipboard for recording times, and others can assist on the sidelines guiding the swimmers. ... We strongly recommend everyone to be registered before Thursday, a) for the insurance side and b) so your child’s times can be recorded in Swimming WA’s database where individuals’ progress can be followed. Our objective for these weekly time trials is to give the children an opportunity to challenge themselves, have some friendly competition amongst each other and see and feel their progress throughout the season! We want to keep it fun and interesting for them as well so will bring variety in the events/heats as we go through the season. Hope to see you all at the pool on Thursday Ps: spread the word Pps: sorry about the long post - again Thanks, Karen

19.01.2022 The pool is opening right now so our 'try out' session at 3.30 today can go ahead as planned! See you there

18.01.2022 REGISTRATION INFO Hi all, the online registrations are up and running. Follow the link below and choose New Member, then follow the prompts. A couple of pointers...... The membership option you should choose is General Member ($55, then add $10 Club fee when prompted). One parent (or both) must also register as a member, at no cost. You will be asked to enter your Work With Children number if you have one but is not compulsory. You will also be asked to accept our Code of Conduct, this will be handed out on Monday so if you want to read before you agree that is understandable. As mentioned we will have laptop/tablet available on Monday for registration purposes if needed. Any questions, I’m more than happy to help! 17.01.2022 If you're looking for refreshment today!

17.01.2022 Thanks for all the expressions of interest already received! Just a friendly reminder to please let Karen know by tomorrow so we can work out how many groups and/or timeslots we need to allow to suitably deliver the programs. Thank you

16.01.2022 These were left behind at the pool after swim club today. Brock has them at the kiosk to be collected.

16.01.2022 It might feel way too early to think about swimming, but surprisingly November is only a good 2 months away We're hoping to introduce a junior program in addition to swimming club this upcoming season (similar to Auskick, Minkey or NetSetGo). The 10 week Junior Dolphin Program is fully provided by Swimming WA, but relies on parents to deliver the program locally.... At this stage we are seeking expressions of interest from children aged 5-8yo keen to participate in the program parents willing to complete a 1 day training (in Northam) and coach the 10 sessions this season Please see flyer attached and get your EOI back to our secretary Karen Mannaerts, 0418849455 or [email protected]

14.01.2022 As mentioned at training yesterday, we will join DOWERIN for time trials THIS THURSDAY, taking advantage of their 50m pool to see how we perform over the extra distance. Dowerin Swim Club start at 3.30pm so we will leave pretty much straight after school. Can you please comment below:... 1. who will be coming along (so they can prepare for us) 2. whether you have spare seats in your car; or 3. if your child/ren want/s to come but need a lift Thanks!

13.01.2022 Welcome back to Swim Club! Time trials will be on again tomorrow Thursday at 5.30pm. We will start with some diving practice, run through our strokes, we’ll throw in a double lap freestyle and/or kickboard lap and finish off with a relay. We are hoping to have 6 lanes going at a time to optimise time in the pool, so would need 6 parents on timers, one on the buzzer and two organising the kids. ... Hope to see you there!

13.01.2022 DATES FOR THE REST OF THIS SEASON: Tomorrow 5 March - Time trials in Goomalling 5.30pm Monday 9 March - regular coaching session at 3.30pm Thursday 12 March - Time Trials in Dowerin from 3.30pm... Monday 16 March - regular coaching session at 3.30pm Thursday 19 March - Time trials in Goomalling 5.30pm Monday 23 March - Swim-a-thon followed by Wind-up 3.30pm And that will be the end of the 2019/20 season!

Thanks also to our general committee members: Ruth Carr, Rex Rowles, Dee Fergusson and Loretta Kerse. I look forward to a successful season as we help our club grow bigger and better.

07.01.2022 In the interest of everyone’s health and safety and in line with Swimming WA’s guidelines, the committee have decided to cancel our Swim-a-thon and Wind-up next week. This unfortunately means a premature finish to the season, but we look forward to everyone’s continued support in the 2020/21 season.

07.01.2022 Pool opening tomorrow And Swim Club will start next Monday

06.01.2022 Our president and coaches met up with Swimming WA representatives today who were very helpful and supportive of our club. We will have access to training and resources which will allow us to grow as a club and continue to provide quality coaching as well as opportunities for members to challenge themselves and develop their potential.

06.01.2022 Well done Dowerin Swim Club You really do have a very well run club and we’ve enjoyed working together with you guys.

06.01.2022 Reminder - There will be NO Swimming Club this Thursday 12th and next Monday 16th because of the school presentation nights. Our LAST SESSION before the Christmas break will be THURSDAY 19 December, being Time Trials at 5.50pm. We will start again after the school holidays on Monday 3 February 2020.

03.01.2022 For anyone who was keen to get to the pool - you may need to wait a few more days :)

03.01.2022 Looking forward to seeing you all at swim club this afternoon! Looking forward to seeing you all at swim club this afternoon!

03.01.2022 Our first swim club come and try afternoon was held on Monday. Thank you to all who came and to the kids for braving the cold of the pool. You all did a great job and we hope to see you next week. I understand that parents were unhappy about the uncertainty regarding whether or not swim club would be going ahead on Monday. Unfortunately, the water testing results for the pool (to ensure water quality and safety) did not return until 2:30pm on that same Monday. The committe...e were placed in an almost impossible position, whereby we could not publicly commit to swim club going ahead, however we also did not wish to cancel swim club prematurely (and seemingly without a good reason if the pool was opened). However, as soon as we were advised that the pool was to be opened, the committee did their very best to try and get the word out to as many people as possible, as quickly as possible. I sympathise with those parents who did not know whether or not to put children on school buses and I also sympathise with those who may have missed out altogether due to the confusion and lack of certainty. However, please bear in mind that none of this uncertainty was the making of the swim club, or the committee, who have in fact volunteered a great deal of personal time to try and ensure a successful swimming season for your children. They have done a sterling job, under difficult circumstances. Any comments or criticisms need to be considered with this in mind. We will post details of the new registration process on our facebook page and we will also send out details to anyone who has expressed interest. We will also have a hotspot at swim club on Monday to register your children. We are looking forward to welcoming your children and helping them to grow and excel in the pool. Thank you for your patience and support. Robyn Lord Chairperson Goomalling Swim Club.

01.01.2022 Hi everyone! Back to school tomorrow so that means Swimming Club will be back on as well. See you at the pool at 3.30!

01.01.2022 Our new lane rope reel arrived on Monday and was put to use straight away. It is smaller and hopefully easier to use. Big THANK YOU to Lord Farms for donating the steel and to Paul Pascoe for kindly donating his time to weld it for us. We seriously appreciate it!
