22.01.2022 The Koalas have been engaging in a wide variety of activities to build on their fine motor strength in preparation for writing. Rubber band boards have been one of the more popular activities.
22.01.2022 Mud play supports children’s physical development, both their large motor skills as they learn to ‘slip and slide’ in the mud and fine motor skills as they manipulate the mud with their hands. Children’s social play can be enhanced through mud play as they cooperate, have fun and create together.

As we love to extend on your children's interests to engage them in learning I think the Kindy groups interest of fishing has crossed the line to an obsession I am concerned one day they will take the hose inside and fill the room to make an ocean We have makeshift crab pots and fishing rods hanging from the fort and the children now want to build a fish and chip shop. We would love if anyone had an old deepfryer and old fishing rods we could have. They don't need to work just for play If you have anything you think the children could use while out fishing in the playground or cooking in their shop let us know. Thank you for your support

19.01.2022 Our first excursion of the year! The Kindergarten children enjoyed travelling on the bus to the Local library. They read stories with the librarians, played games and chose books to borrow with their new library cards. The excursion offered a valuable experience for the children to draw on several different aspects of learning; it enables children to respond to the diversities with the people they see and the different environment they are involved in. It helps the children feel confident being part of the world offered outside our doors and provides them the opportunity to be part of the wider community. We will work closely with Curtis and the other librarians throughout the year to engage the children in early literacy experiences and help them reach their 1000 books before Prep.

17.01.2022 As part of national recycling week we had Elli from Cleanaway visit and educate the possum and koala rooms on what materials we can recycle. Elli was extremely impressed with the knowledge our children already had on recycling and how engaged they all were.

13.01.2022 Following on from our nature play visit we extended our loose parts area. The children engaged with the loose parts in many different ways. They moved, manipulated, carried, combined, redesigned, lined up, took apart and put them back together to create endless play and learning opportunities.
13.01.2022 The Bilby’s extended on their sensory experiences as well as joining in their tractor and farm interest. They smelt, felt, looked at colours and taste tested the vegetables. The educators talked to the Bilby’s about how they grow all the vegetables in their gardens at home.

The girls were also treated to a pampering session with the Koalas doing their hair and makeup finished off with a yummy lunch spread from the centre.

10.01.2022 This is a snapshot of the amazing day the Kindergarten children had on their excursion. Our Kindergarten Teachers/Educators believe children learn best through play/experiences that interest them. We also know that children are capable of guiding their own learning and given the opportunity to share their knowledge/skills they will enhance other children's learning too. It's no surprise that our fishing excursion was a huge success. We not only had the opportunity for educato...rs to spend quality one on one time in real world situations with the children. We were lucky enough to have one of our amazing families gift each child a fishing rod and little tackle box. We had one of the Dads lead the fishing helping children to cast and reel in the lines. Out of 13 children 6 were lucky enough to catch some little fish. They then released the fish back into the water. We went on scavenger hunts exploring different textures, natural items and shapes we could find around the bay area. Our dedicated educators took the children for kayak rides pulling them along with a rope. We continued on with our focus on pollution and searched for rubbish to remove from the beach so it didn't end up in the water. The learning that took place is extensive but what's more the joy on the children's faces was priceless. See more

07.01.2022 Koalas Shopping excursion Thanks to everyone that purchased from the koalas cafe and bake sale. With your help they were able to take the money they made and go shopping at Bunnings and BCF. They decided to buy everything they needed for a vegetable garden and other things for the garden from Bunnings and crab pots and lures for the kindy boat from BCF. Here are some of the things the children had to say about their shopping trip - W- We bought a bird drink (bird bath) A- I loved buying plants from Bunnings H- We played a finding game at BCF and I loved paying for the bee house K- We went to BCF and bought crab pots
06.01.2022 Our Kindergarten show and tell was taken to the next level today! Thanks so much to Jack and his Dad for bringing their boat in. The children loved exploring inside and even catching some Spanish Mackerel. We love learning all about what is special to each child and their family. Sharing these special things, whether it be a boat or a special picture helps build on the children's sense of belonging within our centre.

04.01.2022 We were lucky enough to have Bec from Nature Play QLD @natureplayqld stop in for a visit today. Bec worked with the Koala's making patterns, people, bug homes and ladders all with natural materials they found in the playground. She also gave our educators ideas to extend our loose parts in our playground.

Also to our fabulous parents for coming along and those parents who couldn't come for trusting us with your children on the excursion. It really was a great day.
