21.01.2022 Hello weekend. While harvest has been and gone for 2020, farmer Rob is already preparing for the 2021 olive season. Much work has been done over winter pruning and mulching prunings from 1,000 trees. Its almost time to check and replace irrigation systems and sprinkler heads in readiness for the summer months. And in-between all the regular grove maintance olive oil needs to be bottled, olives are lovingly picked, pickled, sorted, put into jar and then labelled and of course the cellar door is open on the weekend and mid week by appointment. Ah there is always something to be done at the grove. Happy weekend.

21.01.2022 Sunset at the grove.

20.01.2022 Harvest update. Flowers are dying off & we start to see the fruit appearing. This shot shows King Kalamata about 3mm long. It's this stage where we finally get a feel for how much fruit we should get. #rutherglen #seehighcountry #indigoshire #murrayproduce #kalamata #howlong #growershelpinggrowers #oliveflower #tableolives #fruitset #tasting

17.01.2022 Welcome rain has arrived overnight and continues early this morning. The trees are in flower. This rain is gentle enough not to knock the flowers off the tree so they grow to be olives, but constant enough to allow the trees to receive a good drink. Happy Weekend.

17.01.2022 Its been 8 years (or 8 harvests as we say) since moving to the grove from the city. There were lots of olive trees here when we arrived but no gardens, that has changed. We have established rose gardens with fragrant and recurring flowering roses. This is a photo of one of thos rose gardens. We are looking at doing things a little different and being able to share our wonderful gardens and our panoramic view with our visitors, stay tuned.

17.01.2022 Its starting to feel a lot like Christmas. The kitchen smells like Rutherglen Muscat & Spirits.

15.01.2022 Pizza handmade at home. Whipped up this little creation of tomato paste, fried caramelised onion, chorizo and Italian cave rippened Talegio cheese. The contrast in texture of the slightly course chorizo and the smooth melted Talegio cheese combined with the incredible flavour profile of the Talegio cheese was simply heavenly. Talegio available at the cellar door. What cheese variety are you using to make your next pizza with?

15.01.2022 With the recent rains the gardens are putting on a beautiful show. I have a thing for iris, this iris "My friend Joyce" is bursting with flower buds which will open in the next few days.

15.01.2022 Silvery Moon shining over the grove.

15.01.2022 The garden is putting on quite a display this year, especially the orchids. When we moved 8 harvests ago (one harvest per year) there were no gardens just olive trees and lots of them. Since then we have established a commercial caper grove, 6 rose gardens with approx 140 fragrant roses, around 60 multi coloured irises, numerous fruiting trees including figs, 2 English oak trees which are truffle innoculated, 2 hedges of weeping bottle brushes (around 46 bushes), Peonies, Gladys and lavenders have also been planted. That's a little bit a digging with a spade. But the gardens and the groves are looking splendid.

15.01.2022 Great News for tourism businesses in Victoria.

15.01.2022 Grove inspection today, done a little differently. Grandson Arran helping inspect the olive trees which are now in bud.

15.01.2022 Looking forward to greeting you all once again at our cellar door. We have added some new lines to our gourmet local products. Australian, French, Italian, Greek, English just to name a few. Over twenty cheese varieties to be found in the cheese cave / refrigerator. We have only ordered in small quantities so be early to avoid disappointment.

06.01.2022 What a cracker of a day. The grove is looking stunning, as is the billabong off the Murray that we irrigate from. Always beautiful putting out the OPEN sign in the morning. Scroll through the photos for a glimpse of the view from the road.

06.01.2022 The grove is on track for a good crop this coming season. The trees will start flowering very soon. Yes, olive trees flower, a very petite white flower. The rose gardens are also leafing up nicely having been recently pruned along with the olive trees and caper bushes. Does make for a lot of mulching.
