25.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day to all our awesome Tennis Dads

22.01.2022 COACHING UPDATE Following the recent guidelines regarding sports training we are still able to continue with training for our afternoon squads. We have bought ...in a few of our own guidelines to ensure best measures are taken in continuing to keep us all fit & healthy. We have supplied a sanitizer hand wash for players to use upon entering & exiting the court. Please remind children of hygiene importance at this time. All students are to bring their own water bottle & sweat towel to training. The water bubbler will be out of use. Clubhouse will not be open for player congregation and we ask you all refrain from handling doors & locks...leave that to the coach! In the interest of not gathering in one area and keeping our social distances, in the event of wet weather, training will be cancelled and no indoor wet weather training will be offered. If you are unwell...please stay at home! This is last week of Term 1 training and we apologise for any inconvenience but through tough times we must all support each other and take what measures needed to stay safe. Thanks for your assistance and any further updates will be forwarded when necessary.

20.01.2022 Flash . Some great memories on our courts.

17.01.2022 Due to recent amendments in Covid19 restrictions, Gordonvale Courts are now open to members only and the junior program, but with strict precautions. Unfortunately the courts cannot be opened to the general public as yet due to lack of resources to be able have some one there constantly cleaning locks, gates, toilets etc. Thank you for your support and understanding.

17.01.2022 There have been some infamous overbearing sporting parents over the years but Rob Barty father of World Number One Ash Barty is at the opposite end of the s...pectrum. Great sportspeople are not born they are developed. And that means that an enormous amount of time and support is provided by parents. It means a lot of sacrifice and the right kind of motivation. I was honoured to have the opportunity to interview Rob on behalf of BLITZTennis today. It was a fantastic turn out and Rob was an open book, discussing Ash’s junior days, the importance of mental toughness and sports psychology, her break from tennis and how family can be impacted. The part I liked the most was how important the parents and coach relationship is. Ash had that with her first coach Jim Joyce and the juniors at Gordonvale and District Tennis Association and Edmonton Tennis Club have that in Guy Thomas. Having grown up in North Queensland, Rob loves nothing more than playing a role in fulfilling Ash’s dream to help increase participation in the sport of tennis and promotion of this great game. Ash Barty is not only a wonderful tennis player but is polite, well-spoken and a terrific role model for up and coming juniors. She’s an absolute credit to Rob and Josie. Thanks to Kylie and Rebecca from my office who assisted the amazing volunteers from Edmonton Tennis to make today’s event a success at Djarragun College.

16.01.2022 Social Distancing is tough when dealing with little guys. Coach can start to sound like an army Sgt Major. These guys are having fun though! From left: Lael, Paul, Lucca, Nate, Jas, Jade and Jolie.

05.01.2022 Tennis Qld Statement to temporarily cease all tennis activity across Queensland (27 March 2020): "With the continued escalation of the COVID-19 crisis and in consultation with the tennis community and the Government at each level, the Tennis Queensland Board of Directors has come to the decision that we need to act in the best interest of community health and safety by applying the following recommendations. Tennis Qld strongly recommends that all tennis activities cease fr...om midnight Saturday 28 March 2020 across the state of Queensland. This includes: * All tennis clubs, venues, academies and centres cease operations until further notice. * All tennis programmes and coaching be cancelled, including one-on-one coaching, until further notice. * All club, association and social play be cancelled until further notice. * All public court hire bookings cease until further notice. This has been an extremely difficult decision to make, and we know it will be equally difficult for our clubs and coaches. However, we feel that it is a time to put lives before livelihoods and therefore, for the time being, we recommend that all tennis activity cease in Queensland. This is a challenging time for everyone, please stay home and stay safe."

01.01.2022 Great to see our nets are still being used. Blitzers are back on court but lots of younger brothers and sisters have been introduced to tennis. Jada corals a hit with anyone who can't dodge her. When she exhausts those avenues you will find her on the practise wall at our courts.
