25.01.2022 Stop Selling! I can already hear people saying "what the". Yes you read that correctly. Stop selling! Stop selling to customers and start providing more value to them. Even if they have not bought anything from you, stop selling to them. I know myself I can't stand being sold to and I come from a sales background. Gone are the days of the silver tongued sales person who could sell ice to eskimos. Nowadays there is so much more choice for customers you have to add more value ...and do things differently to stand out from the rest. One of the things I remember from my early days in my career was one of my bosses saying to me " Worry about the client and the business will thrive, worry about the money and the clients will leave"

It can take an issue from something small and benign to being completely taken out of context and irrational in a very short period of time. For all my clients I suggest they use the most time efficient way of reaching their customers, through blog posts on their website, quick messages through either text, messenger or what's app and phone calls for those situations that need to be handled more ...delicately. Don't wait for an issue to escalate before you start communicating with your client. They will appreciate the open and honesty dialogue you have with them. Far far too many small business owners try to grow to quickly and implement every system, marketing tactic and operational improvement before its necessary and end up over complicating their business and it because a heavy slow and reactive business rather than a nimble, proactive and adaptable machine. The best thing Ive done in any business Ive worked in or owned is paired things back and just run with a simple business. ... Especially when youre a sole trader or a small company, dont try to do everything. Youll do everything Im sure but will it be the best it can. I recently helped on of my clients realize this and they have now put in a structure in their business to support growth and also reduce the pressure on the business owner. I constantly ask my clients why did you get into business in the first place? Most answer to be their own boss and the financial freedom, sadly some never achieve this because they over complicate their business and dont simplify !

13.01.2022 Test and measurement of the tactics you employ is vitally important to make sure you can getting the results you and your business want. Sometimes the results can unearth other opportunities such as making a tweak to an offering or product that could be the key to your success. Too often I hear from prospective clients that they have "Tried it all" when it comings to marketing initiatives or they have heard that certain tactics didnt work for other people but when I ask for h...ard evidence they are unable to provide it to me. The first thing I see here is opportunity missed. Testing and measuring enables you to see how your programs are working and especially in the social media landscape. Most of the tools we use to test and measure on social media are free, you just have to know where to find them and how to interpret the results. Here are some of the key measures we use: Reach :- this is how many feeds your posts are reaching. Engagement :- how many customers and potential customers are engaging with your post. Likes, shares etc. Profile visits and website clicks:- how many clients and potential clients are wanting more information , your contact info or wanting to view your website. If you're not using these unfortunately you really cant judge how your posts and marketing is really performing and honestly most of your initiatives are pretty useless. Harsh I know but its the truth. These simple tools can make a world of difference. Sometimes we need to get a "belief" boost to remind us why we started in the first place and to bring us back on task. No one is immune to this. Even those of us who provide the boost to a clients belief with regards to their business and the services they provide. One of the things we work wit...h our clients is helping them overcome barriers (belief systems) around their business. I think the biggest barrier for most to overcome is the value of their product and service. Understanding and valuing your business correctly can be the difference between success and mediocre results. Letting go of old belief systems around value can be challenging but when you show someone what they are actually earning per service they are providing it can be a powerful tool to changing a behaviour. Imaging finding out that the product or service your providing results in you earning very little. Its a powerful motivator to change your behaviour.

08.01.2022 One of the biggest challenges I come across when I step into a business to help a client is the lack of clarity around their business. This doesn’t mean they don’t know what they are doing, it’s more around the fact that they are trying to do too much too soon and end up doing things less than adequately. They have the belief that they are the only one that can do the job and end up taking on too much. Their focus is so diluted that they reach a point where they start to ask... why they got into business for themselves in the first place. I came across a client recently who asked for help and when I stepped into their business I was told of how busy the business owner was. When I sat with them for a day I realized how busy they were. They were right they were busy, but it was busy for busy’s sake. Their productivity was so low because they were trying to do far too much and actually achieved very little. They had also fallen into the trap of free work. You know where they promised their family and friends some free work because they wanted to do the right thing by them and also thought they could use it as a reference. We all know what happens when we work in a zero paying economy, no one survives! After just two weeks of sitting in the business we were able to identify a lot of busy work that got put to the side and have just focused on the must do’s. We made several tasks non negotiable and suddenly the business is looking better, operating better and the business owner is actually getting more done now than they have in a long time. The business owner is also working less - the old saying work smarter, not harder Sometimes it takes getting clear on what you’re doing and just doing it. 05.01.2022 Instagram is the social network of the hour - and its easy to see why. It's a visually-oriented platform which offers many options for brands to advertise their products and services, while also building meaningful relationships with target audiences. Back in 2017, Instagram launched its multi-image, or carousel upload feature, which enables users to add up to ten photos or videos in the same post. It's since become one of the most popular post formats, providing an engaging way to tell a story through your images and videos, all within a single post.

04.01.2022 I came across this signage this morning whilst leaving my local gym. It's a great example of how language is so important when trying to convey an important message. The message could have been cut through and adherence if they just chose a little different language. I would have removed the first line "NEW RULES" and replaced it with "Keeping you and our gym safe" This already makes people think oh what's this about keeping us safe, rather than "NEW RULES" what am I being to...ld to do now. There are plenty of other things I would change in this sign just to make it less about ordering people to do something, and more about asking them to be mindful, be careful and adhere to some common sense whilst working out in the gym and keeping everyone safe and importantly keeping the gym open for everyone. I know that sometimes direct language needs to be used but to have this at the front door before members walk in or potential members walk in could put some people off or worse still most will ignore it as soon as they see the word rules, people tend to switch off. When it comes to how your brand is portrayed signage like this can go a long way to putting a sour taste about your brand.

01.01.2022 FAIL to PLAN - PLAN to FAIL Simple saying with real meaning behind it. I come across a lot of clients who honestly run their business by the seat of their pants. They enter into business to make money and be their "own" boss yet when I ask them what the ultimate goal is, the response is normally vague without any timeframe or understanding of what it takes to reach their "Goal". Same goes for your marketing, if you don't put in place a plan, you won't be consistent, your comm...unity won't engage with you and your customer base will not grow to the levels you want or need. Not to mention the fact that you will probably feel like youre working 24/7 in and on your business. If you feel like you're a little out of control, DM me and lets have a chat.
