01.01.2022 Today is #GlobalFertilizerDay which commemorates the Haber-Bosch Process patent for synthesising ammonia, from air, in 1908. Thanks to the invention of Fritz Haber and Carl Bosch, agriculture was revolutionised and billions of people have since been saved from famine. "In the last 50 years global crop production has expanded threefold. This increase has been largely driven by yield increase per unit of land, and crop intensification resulting from multiple cropping and/or sho...rtening of fallow periods. The expansion of arable land area allocated to crops has played a less important role in production increases.
