16.01.2022 FLYING EMBERS ARE PERFECT LITTLE FIRE STARTERS. Last December, the leaves, twigs and bark on this tree at Mangrove Mountain, just to the west of George Downes D...rive created a spectacular display of burning embers. In a strong wind these perfect little fire lighters could have travelled kilometres ahead of the main fire front to come down into our Valley. The reason why most houses and sheds burn down is due to flying embers landing on flammable parts of a building. Trees and shrubs close by can also catch on fire and spread to the structures. Even the Welcome mat at the front door can be an excellent ignition point. Take action well before you are trying to put out multiple spot fires on your property that were started by flying embers. Prepare your property using the RFS action plan by going to: https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/plan-and-p/prepare-your-property See more
