24.01.2022 Great news GCAC Members, The grounding of all flying activities will be lifted this Friday May 15th. That means, charge your batteries, mix your fuel as from Friday onwards Moss Field and all of the other clubs facilities will be open for flying. There are some conditions in place that must be adhered to. These are; You must follow all NSW Government Covid-19 laws and directives. Please see the NSW Government Website for details. No more than 10 persons at any club flying loc...ation at any time. At this stage, please don’t bring guests or visitors. We are only allowed a small number at the field, please let’s leave this for members only.Strict Social Distancing must be practiced. That means under current NSW regulations. Keep 1.5 metres apart from each other at all times. As there is a limited number of 10 members allowed at the field at any one time. Talk to each other and work out ways that everyone can get a turn at the field. If you have finished flying and there is close to 10 members already present, please consider leaving as you will free up a space for another member to attend. With a bit of cooperation between everyone, we can all get some much missed flying in. The committee will be talking over the next couple of days and also preparing Moss Field pits and pilots compound to aid members in social distancing. We will keep you all up to date. The GCAC committee met yesterday afternoon to formulate a plan regarding our sites. As soon as I receive communication from it will be posted here and on the GCAC website. Social distancing and a limit on attendees are still very much in place. See you at Moss and/or the dam/stadium.

20.01.2022 Yesterday one of our club founders and life member Mr Peter Ardill notified us about some sad news. --------- It is with sadness I pass on the news that the owner of the property at Yarramalong where our club had its first flying field Mr Denny Lee has passed away after a long illness.... GCAC used his property for from memory about 2 years before acquiring the Moss Field. After we moved to Narara the Bumble Hill Flying Club took over the lease. Denny was a well respected member of the local community and founding member of Yarramalong Bush Fire Brigade and Captain for many years. Regards, Peter L Ardill. jp,iame Life Member GCAC Inc.

Please if you can all read this. Here is looking forward to another great year at Gosford City Aeromodellers Club.

18.01.2022 Hello GCAC people. I have been a little inattentive with my FB duties I'm afraid. These photos were taken on 20191229 by Jim Burrows' sister Libby at the floatplane site at Mt Penang gardens. They are worth a look. Happy landings to all.

17.01.2022 Working Bee at Moss Field this Saturday Feb 16th. Starting around 7:30am we are going to be doing some clearing around the outer areas and a general tidy up. BBQ will be on for the busy workers.

17.01.2022 It's that time again flyers. This Sunday Feb 23rd. Madness and mayhem at Mount Penang Gardens. For the minuscule fee of $5.00; that's correct, five dollars, you can participate in the spectacle of waterborne aircraft smoothly arising from the calm waters of our GCAC lake. 0700 to 1030 is the window of opportunity, so load up your seaplane/s and report in.

16.01.2022 As you can see, this is the other method of wheeling models to the take-off area. The other way of course is to carry the aircraft.

15.01.2022 Club member Jim Burrows scratch built this Pilatus Porter. This video is a record of the build and the maiden flight.

15.01.2022 Bob Bates is a very talented and experienced flyer. Here he is taking off with his back to the aircraft. In case you were curious, he long thing in his hand is an aerial.

14.01.2022 This is the smile one gets when one flies a Russian 1.5cc diesel control-line aeroplane. I think it's the ether!

14.01.2022 GCAC - Hi Everyone, Indoor flying is on tomorrow Sunday 16th at the Niagara Park Stadium. Take Off is the usual time of 1pm, final landing at 5pm. 12.01.2022 Shane brought his huge Hawk turbine up to Moss Field this morning for taxi tests. What an awesome plane that sure impresses.

12.01.2022 I haven't posted much lately as there hasn't been any activity at Moss field I'm sad to say. It doesn't appear that there will be any flying for a goodly time in any case so perhaps we can all post some building projects here on good old Facebook. We can share photographs and descriptions so we can keep up with events. The good news is that Hank Van de Scheur has worked hard and the ... http://www.gcac.org.au website is on line again. Please post any suggestions and/or photos etc to me at [email protected] and I will pass them on to Hank. Well done that man! For starters, here's a transmitter I came across a while ago. Does the phrase 'galloping ghost' rattle a relay with anyone? More soon. Regards. Bob. AUS 5222

11.01.2022 Here's Hank with his Tiger 3 following him faithfully. I believe this is a very good idea for those of us with 'dicky knees.'

11.01.2022 Great job everyone who helped out at the working bee today. Moss Field is looking tip top.

11.01.2022 The Central Coast Model Aero Club at Mannering Park have sent us an invite to their swap meet on April 6th. All details in the flyer.

10.01.2022 On arrival at 0700 this morning I was gratified to see this bonzer little puddle of standing water on Moss field. We did a Tony Greig with a pushrod and the moisture was still evident about 60 centimetres down. A goodish shower.

09.01.2022 Hermann von Schtupp at the controls of the mighty Ugly Stik. Rain, hail, pestilence, shine and snow, Hermann is there, in full uniform and sporting his favourite pickelhaube headgear. He's fortunate he's not a balloonist!

09.01.2022 For those of you that love the smell of Jet A1 in the morning. Shane Downing and the merry band of turbine flyers are heading to Comsoa Maitland this Saturday March 2nd. All are welcome to go along, Why not throw a plane in and fly as a visitor of Comsoa for the day!

08.01.2022 Sunday morning March 1st at Mt Penang Gardens. Perfect conditions. Even the mozzies aren't up yet.

08.01.2022 These gentlemen are, from L to R. Alan, Lloyd and Graham. We figured out their average age. 86.666, yep, eighty six and some small change. Hank, another member was bored today and submitted this... Hey Bob, Your comment about our senior members completing many laps around Sol got me thinking.... Having not much to do in this heat, apart from watching the cricket. (ho hum) I'm trying to calculate how far on average they would have travelled (relatively as Mr Einstein would say) across our universe during that 86.6666 years.. So far I have got this far... The Earth's orbit around Sol is approx 940,000,000 km in a year. Lets call our senior's average age 87 to make it simple. 940,000,000 x 87 = 81,780,000,000 km. As the earth rotates once per day we need to add that distance... The earth's rotation covers approx 40,075 km per day. 40,075 x 365 = 14,627,375 per year. 14,627,375 x 87 = 1,272,581,625 km. Plus... assuming they transverse a modest average of 50 km per day across this earth, 50 x 365 x 87 = 1,587,750 km. This means that they have transversed a staggering 83,054,169,373 km within our solar system. But we also need to add to that the distance travelled during that time by the solar system as it rotates around the centre of our galaxy, the Milky Way. According to Wikipedia, our solar system travels at 828,000 km per hour. It takes between 225 and 250 million years to complete it's orbit of the galaxy. The Milky Way itself is estimated to be travelling through the universe at 2.1 million km per hours. And finally ? ... as we all know the universe is expanding all the time, so we have to add that distance as well. To calculate how far that is takes too many digits for my calculator (well, really my mind). So when you say they have done a few laps of Sol, in relative terms the distance is pretty amazing. The mind boggles. If someone wants to calculate the last bits let me know. Cheers Hank (bored with the cricket)

08.01.2022 Indoor flying on tomorrow, Sunday March 17th. Take off at 1pm and landings at 5pm. Come along with small indoor electrics and beat the rain.

08.01.2022 Four intrepid control-line flyers gathered at Moss field today and contributed 28 laps to the world total. The weather was much better this year. We didn’t require gumboots, rainwear or shelter. At all. We had fair winds too. An international report will be forthcoming.... Those involved in alphabetical order. Armitage. Paul. Super ringmaster/Fox .35. 6 flights. Burrows. Jim. Ringmaster/Enya .19. 8 flights. Frankel. Bob. Ringmaster/O.S.25LA. 7 flights. Swan. Bill. Ringmaster/K&B .25. 7 flights. Thank you gentlemen, we bettered last year’s total by three flights. And remember. ‘The main objective of aeromodelling is to have fun.’ Ringmaster Robert. See more

07.01.2022 "Australia is a very confusing place, taking up a large amount of the bottom half of the planet. It is recognisable from orbit because of many unusual features, including what at first looks like an enormous bite taken out of its southern edge; a wall of sheer cliffs which plunge into the girting sea. Geologists assure us that this is simply an accident of geomorphology, but they still call it the "Great Australian Bight", proving that not only are they covering up a more fri...Continue reading

07.01.2022 Greetings Facebookers. I have been given editorial access to this page. I will attempt to write some interesting (yawn!) posts to entertain you. Stand by, this could be fun. Bob Frankel.

07.01.2022 Dear Members. Jaz has forwarded this message from ANSW. Kindly read it. ... Email Bulletin Number Twenty One 2019-2020 From the ANSW President - Tim Nolan. COVID19 and its impact on our Sport We have made a firm decision based on the Prime Minister and State Premiers’ decisions on Tuesday 24 March to severely restrict public movement and gatherings. These levels of restrictions may increase shortly. In consultation with the Executive of ANSW we are advising that all Clubs flying fields should now be closed until further notice. If you have to maintain the field then please keep people in attendance to an absolute minimum with all keeping a safe distance from each. If you want to talk through this I will be available for a video call to answer any questions for clubs or members at 7.30pm on Saturday evening (28 March 2020). You can access the call by clicking on the zoom link below. We implore all clubs to take this matter seriously as the majority of our members are in the high-risk categories. None of us want to lose our flying mates nor be responsible for giving the virus to someone. Take the time to finish or start some of those projects that you have been putting off. I am taking this opportunity to clean the shed and to build a Shearwater, my COVID 19 project. What will you be doing? 07.01.2022 This exquisite example of the Aeromodeller's art proudly built of aluminium, ply, balsa and hours of sweat by the inimitable Jim Burrows will be launched at Moss field tomorrow morning, weather permitting. A sight no member should miss.

07.01.2022 GCAC is Proud to Present

05.01.2022 Its 11:11 Tuesday Feb 11th. Moss is lush and green again. There is a big puddle of standing water just left of the pilot's box, otherwise not too bad.

05.01.2022 A very nice Seagull Models MXS R being refuelled by GCAC senior instructor Paul Hewitson.

05.01.2022 Nic Lucas' Curtis P6E Hawk at Gosford City Aeromodellers Club NSW Australia.

05.01.2022 Graham Abiss' Mega Ugly Stik powered by a DLE20 gasoline engine. I really like this aeroplane, it has great presence in the air and sounds great. Graham scratch-built it from a scaled-up plan I am led to believe.

04.01.2022 Sometimes even the most experienced flyer has difficulty overcoming a recalcitrant aeroplane. Jim must receive 9 out of 10 for effort.

03.01.2022 Gird your loins, pack your seaplanes in your vehicle and get yourself to Mt Penang dam and commit watery aviation with a selection of like-minded friends this Sunday March 1st. Happy splashdowns!

03.01.2022 Greetings GCAC Facebookers. Blast! Curse! Grrrrr! We're grounded! So, I reckon lots of photographs and stories here on FB will be a good remedy for cabin fever.... Exchanging modelling stuff is a plan, whether giving it away or selling it. I can envisage some furious bargaining! Just think; you can rid yourself of all that junk that has been cluttering up your shelves for aeons and buy some nice NEW junk to fill up your shelves. Ideas please. It would be better if the subject matter sticks to aeromodelling; we can access all the other chaff elsewhere. Happy posting. Bob. AUS 5222 See more

03.01.2022 I just had a thought! I don't have 'em often but this one was overlooked in my last post. What's the go with the post office? If it closes down when we are eventually locked down it will poke a big stick in our prop. My cunning plan to swap/sell our modelling junk will tip over. I checked and here is the link. https://newsroom.auspost.com.au Best regards.... Bob. AUS 5222 (purveyor of quality junk for the aeromodelling connoisseur.) See more

02.01.2022 The inaugural inflating and land-test for suitability of the GCAC vessel 'SEA RESCUE.' Many thanks to all those in attendance.

02.01.2022 On a more serious matter. Our poor old flying fields are, like most of the rest of the country, suffering from drought. With this in mind there has been a club rule created stating that 'there will be NO flying at Moss field or the dam at Mt Penang during a total fire ban (TOBAN).' Details can be found on the RFS website under 'fire danger ratings and total fire bans.' Our flying sites are in the 'greater Sydney region.'
