25.01.2022 Saturday pennants finally came to an end yesterday with two of our divisions playing. Third division white played off for the pennant at Gosnells and had a very good win over Bassendean in the morning game winning 100 to 53. In the afternoon game they played a strong Mosman Park side for the pennant and in a much closer game they prevailed with a 85 to 73 shot victory. Congratulations to all the players on a terrific season and welcome back to second division. Fourth division... white travelled to Byford to play off for promotion to third division and although not successful they put in a great effort and had every chance to win up until the final stages. The final score Byford 89, Gosnells 72. It was a good effort all season for this team to finish in the promotion race. May I also congratulate the club supporters at Gosnells and the members who travelled to Byford to support the men out there. Roll on next season. See more

20.01.2022 And the season has begun! Last Saturday, 5 September, heralded in the Club's Opening Day and Life Member's Afternoon Tea. The official opening was conducted by President Peter Charkiewicz and Club patron Chris Tallentire MLA. This was followed by the rolling of the first bowls on the green for the 2020/2021 season by the President, Patron and the Captains Angela Sharp and Grant Anderson. Members took over to roll the closest to the spider, who took a lot of punishment!... Skippers were chosen, followed by a pop stick draw for lead, second and third. Once on the greens for the 14 end opening game, the competition was fierce. No quarter was given and there were glimpses of what the opposition clubs can expect this season! The final results for the day were close between the top four. Ray Roper's team lost out on third by a count-back on ends. Coming in third place were Peter Haley's team of Billy Stokes, Margaret Frederickson and Nooni Nilon on + 15 shots. In second place was Grant Anderson's team of Graham Frederickson, Jayne Archibald and Gloria McDonald on + 16 shots. The winners was Harry Beets team of Cathy Hopewell, Dave Locke and Fred Laycock on +17 shots. Great effort everyone! It was wonderful to see Life Members Jean Pitter, Brian Fox, Angela Sharp, Maurice Crabb, Maureen Dalton, Gordon Bradford and Albert Pedrotti. These are the people who have dedicated themselves to the Club over many years and we recognise there amazing contribution. Sincere thanks to Ann Noble, Ray Roper, Grant Anderson and John Hoskins for running the bowls. To Chris Emery, Marg Dillon, Annette Sheridan and Jo Dunne plus the other ladies who helped in the kitchen - Great job! Sincere congrats to Margaret and Graham Frederickson who celebrated 56 years together! The season has now begun so Fly High Kookaburras! See more
20.01.2022 PRESIDENTS REPORT Hello all, On Saturday 5 September the Club held its Open Day for the coming season. I would like to thank our Club Patron and Partner Chris Tallentire, Club Partners and Life Members that were there on the day. I would also like to thank all members that were there to make this event a great success.... There was a turnout of 72 bowlers which resulted in a great game of bowls. Sorry to those bowlers that could not attend due to the limitations set by the current situation. These limits were totally out of our control. I expect by this time next year all will be back to normal. The day was concluded by a very well presented meal served to us by Christine Emery and her helpers. The meal was excellent and a great day was had by all. My thanks go to Grant, Angie, and their respective committees for organising the day. Over the past week or so, Helen Vaulters, David Vaulters and Jo Watson spent quite a bit of time giving the Trophy Board in the passageway leading to the rear emergency exit a well needed face-lift. The board and trophies are now in immaculate condition. Thanks to the all of them. I would also like to thank all members that attended the Busy Bee on Monday 7th September. A great job was done by all. On Saturday 29 August, Rob Gibbons, Merle Burn, Margaret Dillon and I attended Bowls WA Annual General Meeting held at Manning Bowling Club. Not much to report but the good news is that the Mens Thursday Bowls format will be returning to the old format with the exception of dead ends. There will be no dead ends, spot the jack, and Ladies Saturday Bowls will be returning to 18 ends. Great news for the majority of bowlers. I would like to remind all members that it is of utmost importance that every person who wishes to do anything in the Clubs kitchen, even washing up, has carried out the appropriate training and acquired the COVID-19 Hygiene Certificate. Thank you to all of our members that have produced their certificates to the Club. If there are still some members that have completed the course and have not submitted their certificate to the club, can you please do so at your earliest convenience. I know that I keep harking on, but I would like to remind all our members that Social Distancing has been out in place to protect all of us. Please everybody, pay attention to these rules. Its for your safety. I would like to wish all members whose birthday falls over the next two weeks, A Very Happy Birthday. Stay safe everybody. Peter C President.
19.01.2022 Another side of the club was unveiled on Saturday evening, 29 August, when the bogans came to town! With beanies, flannels and uggies, the crowd got into the swing of it with Bogan Bingo. Many showed their mastery of the air guitar and the bogan finger salute. Described as half game show, half party the Bingo caller calls out numbers and his budding DJ play songs from the 80s and 90s that rhyme with those numbers. Throw in some jokes, tributes and spontaneous air guitar co...mpetition for a top flight night of fun and laughter. Members and guests, who were hard to distinguish in the traditional bogan gear, raised the rafters on the old clubhouse. Congratulations to Hazel and the entertainment committee on a great night out. More to come. See more
19.01.2022 The Club recently completed the Clubs WA STRIVE program, a tiered system where clubs challenge themselves to be the best club in 2020. Clubs WAs partnership with the Road Safety Commission presents a unique opportunity to communicate road safety messages to a wide range of road users across WA. STRIVE stands for Success, Transparency, Road Safety, Integration, Values, and Engagement. While the program has a strong focus on road safety, there is an underlying message of runni...ng your club in a business-like manner. The Executive team recognised some years ago the need to move towards a business model, resulting in a resourceful and dynamic lawn bowls club that has a strong future. The program is a guide illustrating many aspects of a sustainable business. The STRIVE philosophy has been the mantra of the modern Gosnells Bowling Club. The road safety element has been implemented and integrated into the fabric of our commitment to our members and the wider community. We are geared for success, are transparent in everything we do, have strong values, and a long-term goal of integration and engagement with our community. There are three categories within the Clubs WA Road Safety Award (Small, Medium and Large): The first three clubs in each category to successfully complete level four will receive $500 Reach level four and automatically go in the running to win Clubs WA Road Safety Award The winning club in each category will win an additional $1,500 The successful clubs will be announced later this year.

18.01.2022 Members performing at "Celebrate Diversity" event
17.01.2022 Sunday November 22 saw the running of the second "Celebrate Diversity" event, co-hosted with United in Diversity. While numbers were down on last year's inaugural event, it was still a success. The day began with the rousing drumming from the Japanese Taiko On. Their performance between A & B green sent the message out that something special was happening at the Club! Performances then moved inside where the Burundi Peace Choir were joined by Male Voice Choir on the stage. Th...e Burundi Choir are a Perth-based gospel group that was formed in a refugee camp in Tanzania, while Perth Male Voice Choir (PMVC) is a community and performance choir singing in four-part harmony. It was an uplifting performance with an extraordinary blending of differing singing styles. It was an exciting event for the Club as a large group of members took to B green to perform a selection of exercises followed by Ba Duan Jin - an indoor exercise or form of qigong for health cherished by the ancient Chinese. This followed last year's performance by Michael Ho of Forever Fitness who now runs classes twice weekly at the Club for over 40 members. All performances, except for the members' group, were repeated in the afternoon. Michael Ho and his troupe performed a new qigong routine on the stage and was then followed by Taiko On who took over the dance floor and stage! Throughout the day there was face painting, henna painting, a selection of international cuisine and a host of free give aways. Club Patron Chris Tallentire joined everyone in the afternoon and congratulated the Club and United in Diversity on the event. A huge thank you to everyone involved on the day, in particular Mamta Kochhar, Vice President of United in Diversity, Gerry Chapman, the performers and members of United in Diversity and Club members who helped. A great community event! See more

16.01.2022 Do you want to have a say on the future of lawn bowls in Australia? Then please take part in the survey on the Bowls Australia website. While it is focused on increasing the level of women and girls in bowls, it can be answered by anyone willing to contribute. Below is the message from Bowls Australia:... Bowls Australia is committed to making lawn bowls a more diverse and inclusive sport. A number of national programs have recently been introduced to try and attract more participants to our network of over 1,850 clubs across Australia. A targeted participation objective is to attract more women and girls to bowls, as they are currently under-represented in our current membership/participation profile. A National Working Party has been created to develop a detailed strategy with recommended priority areas for practical action, which is able to be implemented by BA and STAs in partnership with Sport Australia. The Working Party is aiming to provide a roadmap for BA to: Increase representation of women involved in governance and leadership roles in Bowls in Australia; Enhance accessibility, choice and pathways for women and girls to participate in sport and active recreation through bowls; Identify ways to improve the sports accessibility for all, regardless of age, culture and ability. The survey has been created to gather data and evidence and provide the Working Party with information to guide the creation of a strategy to address this important area of our sport. Take the time to do the survey and be involved in the future of our sport.
16.01.2022 Come along and enjoy these relaxing sociable events.
15.01.2022 Men's pennant practice teams for this Thursday and Saturday.
15.01.2022 A crazy fun day at the Club last Sunday for the Scroungers wind-up. There was everything there from A zombie (Doddy) to a bee (Kerry). Bert was a worry in his "naked" apron, Peter came as Glad Wrap and Jo was dazzling in true flapper style! Grant kept everyone in line as a member of the Police force, with toy gun and handcuffs. Following a BBQ breakfast, the colourful group took to B green to play out the finals.... After much hilarity and some interesting bowls, Doddy took out the finals trophy. In second place was Mark and Dean came in third. The Plate was won by Hock with Michael in second. The fun and comradeship continued in the clubrooms with the presentation of trophies and certificates for the season. The photos tell the story! The event was finished off with the traditional prawns and platters. Grant was serenaded by "Bobby and the Dazzlers (aka Rob, Jo, Kerry C and Janice) looking a little like Minnie mice! Congratulations to all and see you back on the greens next year. Sincere thanks to Jo for the photos. See more

12.01.2022 During August our Club illustrated its community spirit in two fund raising events. The running of both was affected by the COVID-19 lock-down, but it didn't dampen the enthusiasm to give that is inherent in our club culture. The ever popular IGA Purple Bra day raised a great $740. This event raises funds helping support men and women in WA face breast cancer with specialised breast care nursing, counselling and financial support. Thanks to everyone involved, in particular C...arolyn Griffiths who supplies the colourful bras! The Purple Bra day was followed by the annual soup day for Bowl over Cancer. A great turn up on the day and some delicious soups supplied by members to take the chill out of the bowlers! Before heading out the greens, Peter McKelvie did his annual shave of beard, hair and eyebrows. Over $380 was raised by Peter for the Cancer Council of WA. The total for the day was $1,400.00. A great effort! Once again thanks to Peter for his efforts in growing the face and head fuzz and having it taken off for such a worthy cause. Thanks also to John Renton for some of the happy snaps following the game. See more

Pairs played 2x4x2 on A and B green and as always the competition was tough.... The winners were Narissa Nilon and Kerry Cunynghame. Fantastic game by these two ladies. They got a nice little prize and a lovely bottle of wine presented by Angela Sharp. Well deserved girls. The runners up were Lyn Gibbs and Annette Sheridan . Congrats girls and enjoy the chockies. Thank you to all the ladies who attended a brilliant happy day. Angela Sharp shed a few tears as she gave a brief run down of her many years at the club. Angela joined in 1979 and received a life membership 2001. She was selected to play for WA, and in the over 60s team where she was awarded overall "player of the series". Angela has sat on many Committees in her 41 years at the club, but said apart from.her State selection, her biggest honour was being elected as Ladies Captain. Her very old friend Jean Pitter, our longest life member now 96 was also on hand to applaude Angela on her day. Afternoon tea followed and the season celebrated by all with much laughter. Thank you Anne Noble and her match Committe for the great day.

04.01.2022 Received from Bowls WA: Good Evening Clubs and Women’s Tuesday Pennant Contacts As described in last week’s email, I have combined 3rd Division Red and White for the rest of the season. These fixtures have taken some manipulation to come up with an even as possible 11 team 18 week home and away draw. However apart from the first 3 rounds, all fixtures were randomly drawn. The fixtures do not follow the usual home and away parameters that we are use too so it may seem unusual,... but ultimately the following things are in place: The first 3 rounds are fixtures already played scores will automatically be added from the previous colours into Bowls Link. Everybody plays each other once with some playing each other twice Four teams have one bye for the season and seven teams have two byes those who have two byes will receive additional points at the end of the season as per Pennant COP Nine teams have 8 home games and two teams have 9 home games (teams with less byes) The top team only at the end of the home and away season will play for the flag. The top four teams at the end of the home and away season will be promoted to 2nd division next season. The new fixtures are attached for your information
04.01.2022 Come and join us for our Sunday sessions.
03.01.2022 The unsettled weather yesterday, Tuesday 18 August, did not deter the bowlers who took up the challenge on the greens. 02.01.2022 PRESIDENTS REPORT 200828 Hello all,... The By-Law change notice which was placed on the Club Notice Board on August 13 as per the AGM decision, has now been removed. The By-Law change and additions have now been ratified by the Management Committee and are now current. A copy of the updated By-Laws are located in the Pennant Board area located in the Members Constitution Copy. For those of you who have been at the Club recently you may have noticed a new TV above the bar. This TV replaces the old Management Board and has all the information previously on the old board, displayed electronically. This decision was made as spare letters for this board are impossible to get hold of. I have also included the 2019-2020 Ladies and Mens Club Champions photos on this TV. Recently, a Club ex-employee, Brodie Dyer laid a complaint with the Fair Work Commission regarding unfair dismissal. This matter was dealt with at a conference held between the Club and our legal representative from Clubs NSW, Mr. Dyer and Fair Work Commission. The matter has now been finalised. I remind all our members that Social Distancing has been out in place to protect all of us. Please everybody, pay attention to these rules. Its for your safety. I would like to wish all members whose birthday falls over the next two weeks, A Very Happy Birthday. Stay safe everybody. Peter C President.
