25.01.2022 Hey everyone hope all is well Just wanted to let everyone know that this page will be quiet over the next few months as I make preparations for the future changes that will come into play later this year I’m not shutting down in any shape or form infact it’s the opposite so please remember even tho the page is quiet the service is still available 24:7 through Perth’s northern and southern suburbs so please don’t hesitate to call if you need assistance ... Any questions sent through to the page will still be answered

06.01.2022 Scientific name - Egernia kingii Common name - kings skink Suburb - gosnells This heavily emaciated kings skink was called through by a house owner in gosnells due to the animal looking strangely thin and he was bang on this is probably the thinnest I’ve seen this species, To the point that I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a thin female who has also had a litter of babies during her poor state which in turn would make her condition depreciate further. Worse thing with these... lizards is they have a tendency to piss all over you.... this was no exception Regardless of how the animal got in this state I’m glad I got the call and the opportunity to connect this animal with the care it needs at darling range wildlife shelter. I limit the amount of lizard posts that I do as they pose no risk to people or their pets and less awareness is generally required unlike venomous snakes but this being the 4th call for the weekend and the 2nd resulting in a animal but also with other catchers having a equal or even busier weekend it highlights further that it’s all begun and to make sure you save as many catchers numbers available to you as you can. Some are not as willing as others or may miss your call or simply can’t attend at that time so the more numbers you can have the better for you and the animal in question For me it’s back to a quiet Sunday beer. Have a good one guys!

06.01.2022 Just when I thought I would have my first august without a call since starting this relo gig the snake gods threw us a 26 day and the calls came Unfortunately the call was a injured animal from a construction site. The boys did a good job calling it through and keeping an eye on the animal as most sites wouldn’t. After removing the animal it was taken to Armadale Reptile Centre for assessment of its wounds and treatment was provided and a vet trip to Champion Lake Vet Ce...ntre was booked unfortunately xrays made it obvious the animal had a major break in the spine and the decision was made to euthanise the animal. Unfortunately this is part of what we do Hoping my next call is a simple catch and release Thanks to both centres for there efforts as always it’s hard to find people that want to help wild venomous snakes so I appreciate their help Snake sightings have become more common lately and will continue to do so as the weather becomes consistently warmer so keep my number close and remember I’m available 24:7 to attend your property or at a minimum assist with finding another catcher to help So never hesitate to call. I see many of you tagging me in community pages and forwarding information that you have received in this page your efforts don’t go unnoticed, as a page let’s save as many snakes as we can this year and have some fun along the way

04.01.2022 How’s everyone been! With The weather that we have had this week it has encouraged me to publish this post The calls have not started just yet but it’s coming and it’s close. My phone can start ringing as early august but generally I insist people start being more snake conscious in their yards as of spring and yes snakes are around all year but the chances of finding one in your yard is minimal, even if you see one they are usually lethargic allowing you ample time to r...emove yourself from the situation (during winter) Now with the calls that start in august it’s always tigers. They enjoy the cooler weather and are often seen in winter sun taking the opportunity to bask So with it being predominantly tiger snakes my busy suburbs are ones that are near wetlands or that have been developed on a wetland such as pairs waters. Southern river. Harrisdale and anywhere between Armadale and byford that’s typically my hectic suburbs for the first two months till the dugites get moving then the whole of Perth goes nuts I wasn’t able to attend as many calls as I would’ve like at the end of last season but trust me this year I’m going to be answering calls until I don’t have the strength to pick up the hook I look forward to rearranging your houses and cleaning your sheds Have a good weekend
