Many people are receiving calls saying that they have a tax debt, and if they don't pay it immediately, they will face arrest. ... Always remember, the ATO will never: - threaten you with immediate arrest, jail or deportation - request payment via iTunes, Google Play cards or other vouchers - insist you stay on the phone until payment is made - prevent you from discussing your tax affairs with us If you receive one of these calls, please report it to the ATO's scam line immediately by calling 1800 008 540.
