22.01.2022 HELP PROTECT THE DRIP LODGE A SUBMISSION Moolarben Stage 1 MOD 15 plans to drill a cluster of de-watering boreholes opposite The Drip, 250 m from the Goulburn River. This would permanently lower groundwater levels and potentially the water supply to The Drip. ### Key points ## for objection due 20 October, 2019 1. A de-watering bore opposite The Drip is not acceptable 2. The mine has failed to show how ‘nil impacts’ on The Drip water supply... will be achieved. 3. The draw-down of groundwater is significantly greater than predicted. This needs to be fully assessed before Mod 15 can be considered Lodge online at the NSW planning portal - link below The Mines groundwater review is inadequate. It is predicated on a 2007 approval based on questionable groundwater modelling and ignores a greater water make (x5) than predicted and significant groundwater impacts experienced at the adjacent Ulan Coal Mine. An independent groundwater report is required to fully inform this approval application. This should examine impacts of mine depressurisation on Triassic/Upper Permian aquifers; the potential for interception of groundwater supply to The Drip and Goulburn River.
