23.01.2022 Every night at 8pm, the residents of Northcote Avenue, Shepparton spill onto their lawns to clap and cheer healthcare workers putting their lives on the line to keep us safe.

22.01.2022 UPDATE ON 5 APRIL: if you like this video, and feel able, please contribute to the charity that we are donating all our revenue to, which is the World Health Or...ganization COVID-19 Solidarity Fund: https://www.facebook.com/donate/1564752357011737/. Facebook will match what you give. You can find a few more family antics at: https://www.youtube.com/c/MarshFamilySongs ORIGINAL MESSAGE ON 29 MARCH: This is the last one we are going to do on a lockdown theme, but it felt very apt. And it might be just in time to cheer up some friends and family who have had - or are about to have - birthdays, all by themselves. Decided to include a bit of the intro so that you can see what kind of madness Danielle Marsh and I would be dealing with, if we didn't occupy them with music making...Hope everyone out there is doing okay.

20.01.2022 Post 3. Part 2: Strength = Stability: The muscles required for pelvic stability. By Bradley Smith, physiotherapist. The position of the pelvis is key for keepi...ng the rest of the leg aligned and stable. But how do we keep the pelvis in position? Muscles contract and lengthen as a way to move the bones. Muscles can also work in a static position as a way to keep stability in certain areas. Looking at the pelvis from the top, the core muscles work to stabilise the pelvis in relation to the spine. The core, including the transversus abdominus maintains the pelvic position in the anterior tilt/posterior tilt direction, hitching up and down as well as rotation. Looking at the hip joint, one of the most important muscle groups for pelvic stability is the gluteals in particular, gluteus medius. The movement of the gluteus medius is to abduct the leg (take the leg away from the midline). However; when the leg is stationary, the gluteus medius works statically to maintain the pelvic position by preventing the pelvic drop on the opposite side. This is especially important in things such as single leg hops and sautés where a hitching and dropping pelvis can be indicative of limited strength in this muscle. The turnout muscles (deep hip rotators) help to maintain pelvic position in the rotational direction. If the deep rotators do not have the requisite strength, you may find the opposite side of the pelvis will rotate forwards. In this rotated position, the dancer not only has difficulty achieving full turnout but also will compromise leg alignment. The forward position of the pelvis puts the opposite femur into a slight degree of internal rotation making it more difficult to keep the hip in line with the rest of the leg. The quadriceps on the front of the femur and the hamstrings at the back of the femur have attachments onto the pelvis. The activation and strength of these muscles will further alter pelvic position. These muscles do not work in isolation, the stabilisation of the pelvis requires the core muscles and the hip muscles to work synergistically. Slight changes in forces to the pelvis will require certain muscles to contract a bit more and certain muscles to decrease their contraction to maintain the optimal position. '

12.01.2022 Core Series: Single Leg Lifts Deep core strength does not mean how many sit ups you can do or how long you can hold a plank, it is your ability to maintain a... good pelvic floor/transverse abdominus contraction whilst completing other activities. Technically, this means that your deep core muscles should be active during most of your day. So what are the benefits of having good deep core strength? You can improve your posture, reduce back pain, improve your balance and improve the quality of your body’s movements as all movements will be supported from a strong base. **Do not complete if your pelvic floor is compromised** When completing this exercise it is really important that you engage through your pelvic floor before lifting your first leg. This ensures that the appropriate muscles will work during the exercise. Start in a neutral spine position, engage your pelvic floor and lift one leg to 90/90. Lift your second leg to 90/90 and ensure that you try and flatten your stomach when you lift this leg. Lower the first leg, then lower the second leg. Complete 10 reps, 5 with one leg leading and 5 with the other leg leading.

08.01.2022 Gillian is a seven-year-old girl who cannot sit in school. She continually gets up, gets distracted, flies with thoughts, and doesn't follow lessons. Her t...eachers worry about her, punish her, scold her, reward the few times that she is attentive, but nothing, she Gillian does not know how to sit and cannot be attentive. When she comes home, her mother punishes her too. So not only does she Gillian have bad grades and punishment at school, but she also suffers from them at home. One day, Gillian's mother is called to school. The lady, sad as someone waiting for bad news, takes her hand and goes to the interview room. The teachers speak of illness, of an obvious disorder. Maybe it's hyperactivity or maybe she needs a medication. During the interview an old teacher arrives who knows the little girl. He asks all the adults, mother and colleagues, to follow him into an adjoining room from where she can still be seen. As he leaves, he tells Gillian that they will be back soon and turns on an old radio with music. As the girl is alone in the room, she immediately gets up and begins to move up and down chasing the music in the air with her feet and her heart. The teacher smiles as the colleagues and the mother look at him between confused and compassionate, as is often done with the old. So he says: "See? Gillian is not sick, Gillian is a dancer!" He recommends that her mother take her to a dance class and that her colleagues make her dance from time to time. She attends her first lesson and when she gets home she tells her mother: "Everyone is like me, no one can sit there!" In 1981, after a career as a dancer, opening her own dance academy and receiving international recognition for her art, Gillian Lynne became the choreographer of the musical "Cats." Hopefully all different children find adults capable of welcoming them for who they are and not for what they lack . Long live the differences, the little black sheep and the misunderstood. They are the ones who create beauty in this world...

01.01.2022 Over the coming weeks starts a new chapter in education. There is a huge learning curve that students, parents and school staff will be navigating together!! As... we embark on these new methods of teaching and learning, I am asking my Facebook friends to refrain from publicly scrutinizing their children’s teachers/schools for the way they are teaching or the lessons they are assigning. Please offer grace to your child’s teacher and other school personnel. I promise that educating your children is still their #1 priority. They are about to navigate uncharted waters with minimal prep time, a rapid technological learning curve, as well as very little certainty as to what exactly they are preparing for - with a number possibilities as to what next term will look like on the table. This is a crisis, not a time to be playing armchair expert. They love our kids and will be doing their absolute best! Please copy & paste if you are a teacher ... or support teachers. And fellow educators, YOU’VE GOT THIS! We believe in you xxxx (Author of original post unknown) We are all in this together!
