24.01.2022 Today, GV Health staff marked R U OK Day 2020. 22.01.2022 Celebrating NAIDOC Week 2020 This week is National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) Week for 2020 with celebrations to be held from 8 ...November through to 15 November. Due to COVID-19, this year’s celebratory week was delayed from the usual time each July. While the usual number of events around Shepparton and the surrounding region is exceptionally limited this year, GV Health will honour the week with a flag raising ceremony, there will be posters and balloons on display around the health service and this week’s Shepparton News feature, ‘In Touch with Our Community’ will highlight the week and the services provided to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people at GV Health through the great work of our Aboriginal Liaison Officers. This year’s NAIDOC Week theme is Always Was, Always Will Be. The theme recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each year to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life. The week is a great opportunity to support our local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. However, we should all be mindful of the need to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people each and every day. Pictured below is the 2020 National NAIDOC Poster from the National NAIDOC Committee.

19.01.2022 GV Health has seen more than a 50% drop in the number of people getting tested for COVID-19 in our community during recent weeks. While this may be due to the great work we have all been doing lately to stay home, wear a mask and wash our hands regularly, we’re concerned that it might be for other reasons. You’ve heard it all before: COVID-19 symptoms are fever, dry cough, tiredness etc. But did you know that less common symptoms can be diarrhoea, conjunctivitis and discolour...ation of the fingers/toes? If you feel unwell, in any way, please visit GV Health and get tested at GV Health's Acute Respiratory Clinic (ARC) at Graham Street, Shepparton. The ARC is open seven days per week, 10:00am - 5:30pm. #intouchwithourcommunity

09.01.2022 Update: Active Cases, Reduction in Testing Numbers & Getting Tested Active Cases: Community Cases in the Shepparton Region ~ There are no new active cases of ...people that have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Shepparton region. There is one active case of a person that has tested positive for COVID-19 in the Shepparton region. Inpatient Admissions at GV Health ~ There is one patient with COVID-19 currently admitted at GV Health. Cases in the Goulburn Valley ~ There are no people in the Benalla, Campaspe, Moira and Strathbogie regions that have tested positive for COVID-19 that are considered to be an active case. Reduction in Testing Numbers: There has been a significant reduction in the number of people that are presenting for testing at the Acute Respiratory Clinic (ARC) as detailed below: Three-week period 28 July to 17 August (inclusive) 2,131 tested for COVID-19. Three-week period 18 August to 7 September (inclusive) 1,023 tested for COVID-19. Therefore, 1,108 less people or a 52% reduction in people getting tested for COVID-19. This is of concern as it indicates people may not be as vigilant as required regarding the need to get tested for COVID-19. Even the very mildest of symptoms that are similar to cold and flu symptoms can mean you have COVID-19. Getting Tested: Anyone who is unwell with any symptoms of COVID-19, no matter how mild, (such as fever, chills, cough, sore throat, runny nose, loss of sense of smell), should get tested for COVID-19 immediately and stay at home until you receive the result. Acute Respiratory Clinic ~ Please note GV Health's Acute Respiratory Clinic (ARC) at Graham Street, Shepparton has new operating hours. The ARC is open seven days per week from 10:00am to 5:30pm.

08.01.2022 COVID-19 Update: Active Cases, Getting Tested and Increasing Elective Surgery Information regarding current active cases ~ There is one active case of a person ...from the Shepparton region that has tested positive for COVID-19. There is one patient with COVID-19 currently admitted at GV Health. The new active case reported yesterday has been removed from the active cases in the Shepparton region as they are at an interstate location having recently returned from overseas travel. There are no people in the Campaspe, Benalla, Moira and Strathbogie regions that have tested positive for COVID-19 that are considered to be an active case. Getting tested ~ Anyone who is unwell with any symptoms of COVID-19, no matter how mild (such as fever, chills, cough, sore throat, runny nose, loss of sense of smell) should get tested immediately and stay at home until you receive the result. Do not go about your normal day-to-day activities such as work or going out in the community. GV Health's Acute Respiratory Clinic (ARC) at Graham Street, Shepparton is open seven days per week from 10:00am to 5:30pm. Elective surgery to increase at GV Health ~ As of tomorrow and in line with the Victorian Government’s current public health advice, GV Health will be progressively resuming elective surgery. As part of a staged approached, 75% of usual elective surgery activity will resume from 17 September, 85% from the end of September and 100% of usual activity is planned from 23 November onwards. These increases are subject to any further changes and/or advice from relevant agencies. This is great news for our community and GV Health is looking forward to being able to increase our elective surgery capacity as we move towards COVID normal. However, I understand that the recent re-prioritising of resources due to the COVID-19 pandemic has unfortunately resulted in some people waiting for elective surgery and having their care delayed. I regret that this has had to occur and we will now be working as quickly as possible to reschedule elective surgery for these patients and it is our priority to get to people who have had extended wait times as soon as possible. I would also like to reiterate the importance of self-monitoring while waiting for elective surgery and encourage all patients to visit their GP if they notice a change and/or deterioration in their health. Patients have and will continue to be contacted to arrange necessary appointments and to schedule their operations and procedures. Any delayed surgery or procedures will be re-scheduled as soon as possible.

07.01.2022 At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 the guns fell silent across Europe, marking the end of World War 1. With this silence 62,000 Australians - nearly one third of them Victorians - had lost their lives. While the nation rejoiced that war was over, nothing could mask the heartbreak of the loss of so many young soldiers.... Today at 11am we remember and honour those that made the ultimate sacrifice for this nation and we thank the Victorians and Australians currently serving. Recently we have had Australian Defence Force personnel in Shepparton assisting as part of the COVID-19 pandemic response and we thank them for their service, assistance and support during this time. We also wish all armed forces personnel serving overseas a safe return from their posting. Lest we forget.
